There are many remarks about sound on here with obvious examples being the class 385 and 150 sounding very inaccurate, i would add a few more examples that i think need work: GWR HST sounds pretty good but the traction motors are inaudible while in real life recordings you can clearly hear the traction motors winding up after about 20mph. 403 ICE again it sounds fairly accurate except the sound right on departure where you hear a more musical tone on the real life units. Class 40 UK again it is very good from outside the cab especially, cab could do with a little more volume and missing traction motor noise. Class 37 UK traction motors at least you can hear them but the noise sounds like it is on a loop and you can hear it cut off briefly every 10 secs or so. Class 323 sounds quiet in the interior otherwise pretty good Class 395 sounds quiet in the interior Class 801 on LNER sounds pretty much inaudible after 65mph while in real life it can be heard upto around 100mph.
GWE HST for sure, also need to be able to open the cab doors in motion as these were never interlocked IRL. Most of the older stuff is pretty decent, it’s the newer train DLC where sounds seem to have gone askew, mainly due to poor mixing and relative volume levels. My top two candidates would be the Class 700 and the Class 801 to receive a sound buff. For the German scene, would be nice if the Dosto cab cars could get a bit more creak, rattle and groan like the N-car cab car. Long forgotten now but the original 1442 on RT is near dead silent in the cab. If that got sorted then I might actually buy and keep the route. Most of the Rivet stuff still needs sound fixes. The infamous Class 150 of course, but the 484 on IOW 2022 sounds abominable to me and the 1938 stock, while it did get some audio love, still has no traction motor run down noise when braking.
The 1972 Stock needs a proper sound rework, currently it sounds nothing like the real thing. This is because the Bakerloo Line DLC was developed during the Covid-19 lockdown period which meant DTG were unable to do any recording or in-cab sessions, and as a result of this it uses sounds from Train Sim Classics Class 455 DLC from Thompson Interactive, old sounds which are over ten years old and not even from the correct train, let alone the same family of rolling stock. Sadly I doubt DTG will go out and do a recording session, which is a shame because the 1972 Stock has very distinctive sounds irl, and probably won't be in service for much longer.
+1 i do think that it really could do with a sound update, DTG have updated many train sounds but haven't done anything to the Bakerloo line presumably because the train only runs on one line only, maybe they could rework on the sounds hopefully.
Hi, I noticed that in the Siemens Vectron game, the low tone horn is a "natural Fa" and in reality it is a "natural sol" I just hope fix the low tone of the vectron horn because it's really unrealistic and annoying Ciao, ho notato che nel gioco Siemens Vectron, il tono basso della tromba è un "Fa naturale" e nella realtà è un "sol naturale" Spero solo che sistemiate il tono basso della tromba della vectron perché è davvero irrealistico e fastidioso
Cab sounds are good but if you hear the motors from the motor carriage you hear a faint sound while in reality they are very audible.
The 385 should have pretty much the same sounds and physics as the 801 tbh, with minor changes. The 700 as well, it doesn't necessarily sound "bad" but the sounds are sourced from a 350 rather than an actual 700 (the DC sounds anyway)
Eh, not my fav type of thread as I usually tend not to care too much as long as the thing sounds "like a train" enough, being just a civilian IRL, heh. But I do admit I played the DB BR 155 recently on RSN and as electric as it is, it cannot absolutely sound like nothing at all IRL now can it?
Pretty much. From the start though its bare desiro motors looping with no pitch change like irl. And then a dramatic switch after 30mph which is less dramatic irl. Imo 700s on DC sound like a mix of AC and DC compared to a 450 it is different.
I still can't believe I'm the only person who cares that the ECW 377 still has the old sounds. It's the one reason why I never drive that route anymore and I'm still incredibly bitter that DTG never bothered to fix it even though they said they would. I've given up trying to ask for it now. They're clearly not interested in it at this point.
Me too, it’s a 5 minute job to have the BML 377 layer into ECW and they can’t even be bothered with that…
Independent upon the sounds of the engine and other unit specific noises, most of all units running for passenger services and especially for commuter or rapid transit lines, require an update of passenger announcements once DTG found the way to implement said feature into the core. Matt said they're working on it. I hope that as much lines get an update as possible and that it won't be a feature for upcoming routes only.
Easy answer : all of the Dosto rolling stock in Game. They sound absolutely dreadful especially compared to their real life counterpart. Myself living in Dresden and riding these thing on the S-Bahn regularly, i have quite a good comparison. Dostos Cab Cars are also very unsimilar to another where one has some ambient noise while the others are dead silent. I felt Rosenheim-Salzburg was the perfect time for this, given we haven't had Dostos in a Route DLC for quite some time.
I'd just be happy with steam whistles being able to warble personally But I know it'll never happen with DTG. Devil you know
Yes, one of my hobbyhorses. Make Dosto driving actually a pleasant experience, not a chore to endure getting through Journey mode.
Sherman hill. Some engines make almost no audible engine sound, and no ambient sounds, like wheel squeal or clack.
I quite enjoy driving the Dostos. The only problem I have with them is the cab being very very quiet. Almost no ambient sound at all.
This train is full broke (A. It is rebuilt from zero B. (As it is currently, the locomotive is ignored/Skyhook give up
As just posted in another thread. the DB BR 103 on LFR. The traction fan sound needs to be nerfed and even spool down once moving, so we can hear the traction motors.
The only one that really bugs me at the moment is Rivets Class 385. The braking on it sounds like finger nails being scrapped down a blackboard. The sound mix in general is appalling. Unfortunately I think a sound update is becoming more off the cards as time goes by...
