Quick question, why is the whistle exactly the same on both locos if 2 separate recording sessions were done on both locos respectively?
For the whistle I think they only used the 8F's recording. Also I've said it several times but the whistle sounds absolutely dreadful, something must have been wrong with the one they recorded it from. I've heard Jubilees in real life and they do NOT sound like that. The one in TSW2 sounds like a dying cat.
Yeah it's because there was a lot of condensation on the whistle holes and that is why it makes it sound like that. I just feel they could have used 2 different types to show a difference between the 2.
Well what do I know? I only grew up in Manchester in the 60s and it sounds like a Stanier whistle to me. It was recorded from the real thing for goodness sake.
That's fair enough, just saying a differentiation between the 2 locomotives wouldn't have gone amiss.
Well it does sort of sound like a Stanier whistle, just one that was a bit poorly. I would have preferred if if they recorded it off a loco that had one that sounded a bit better. As the video I shared shows, the one on Bahamas sounds much nicer. That could have been used for the Jubilees while the one still in the game could have been exclusive to the 8Fs.
