The consoles have full keyboard support, as far as I'm aware all the keyboard commands for Train Sim World work just fine on consoles, so why are we not allowed to see what those commands are? It was mentioned in the launch stream that DTG were going to look into whether they could add the new TSW4 keyboard mapping function to consoles, but in reality there isn't even an option to view what the standard keyboard controls are. I did think maybe they would be in the new manual, but nope, the last time they appeared in the manual was TSW2020. Luckily a forum member posted a handy 2 page PDF a couple of years ago, so as long as no new keybinds have been implemented since then those of us who use these forums will be able to muddle through, despite DTGs disappointing approach to accessibility on consoles. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/tsw-2-key-bindings-keyboard-list-organized.44965/
I'm looking at what we can do to get the keyboard stuff unhidden on consoles, no reason for it to be hidden tbh so doing what i can there to resolve that. No plans for mouse support yet but mostly just because its not been looked at yet. Matt.
I did too until we got haptic feedback. Well, it’d still be useful for livery designer and stuff. I usually run controller and keep the keyboard plugged in; the shortcuts are too useful to not have.
Thanks Matt, I'm very grateful the keyboard works at all on console, I've never once managed to be on time with a PZB Acknowledge with just the controller, even if I did need to switch to a bigger keyboard as the one I was using didn't have a Page Down button.
This would be great, Matt. My fingers aren't that flexible and fast anymore due to an illness (Morbus Dupuytren), and it is very helpful if I can use a key instead of moving the crosshair to a switch with the controller's stick. It would be very helpful for me to be able to define my own keyboard settings, which I can use on the small keyboard/ chatboard I use as an addition to the controller.
Never had that problem since TSW2020. All the default keys on PC work for consoles with keyboards since TSW2 for me on PS5.
That’s odd. I can confirm my keyboard has no issues as I also use it on TS Classic. [ & ] both work fine to apply and release brakes on locomotives with different braking systems, but for some reason the train brake using ; on Xbox with USB keyboard for me has zero reaction
This was an issue on PS4 with TSW2020 but since then I've not seen that issue crop up. Don't play on Xbox so can't comment on that. Hopefully once they expose the keyboard settings you will be able to set a keybind that works.
Same here, very annoying bug and really ruins the point of using a keyboard unless you're driving a modern EMU with a combined TBC.
Go to have that fixed because it's going to be a problem on German and Austrian Routes due to Consoles lacking PZB AFB sifa dedicated keys. Therefore when you play them keyboard needed
All three pzb functions are directly accessible on the controller, just to be clear. But yes I understand the importance of the keyboard too
Sorry if this is a dumb question then, but what is the control for PZB Acknowledge on PlayStation? Square + Left D-Pad is PZB Override, Square + Right D-Pad is PZB Release, but PZB Acknowledge isn't shown on the Controller Layout and no combination of buttons I press pushes that switch for me. Ideally it would be mapped to Square + Up D-Pad but nothing is mapped there according to the settings and pressing those buttons does nothing.
Thanks, my first attempts at PZB involved frantically pressing circle but at that point I was probably needing to release, then once I had that sussed I got stopped for not pressing acknowledge and couldn't find that mentioned in the controller settings so reached for my keyboard instead. I must admit PZB confused the hell out of me when I first tried it a few years ago, I guess that's a positive of the new scoring system, as it's encouraged me to give it another go and while I may be just as confused, I have an incentive to learn it properly now.
Hey DTG Matt any update on when console players will be able to use keyboard mapping functionality? thank you!!!
Please look into this Matt. It would improve my experience and many other players experiences. The controller feels very clunky sometimes, even with high sensitivity. Selecting a command on a train feels awkward too.
