TSx didn't move to consoles because the core was built on DirectX9 and is still fundamentally based on that engine, and no consoles are compatible
Also.. good luck with using stuff like AP locos and units with a game pad. What about all the 3rd party DLC? How's that gonna work with a console?
This is shows no knowledge of software development or business acuity. The foundational game engine is on technology that is not support by consoles so would be a total rewrite of not only the engine but all the DLC..... OH Wait!!! They did and the new product is called TSW2. So I guess they are not as lazy as you suggest.

tbf, although you replied to the wrong person, your post is still answering the question. (So I clicked like anyway). TSW exists at least partly to provide a train simulator for the console market.
