I’ve owned this route for at least a year(?) and I think this was a good route. And then later this year I saw most of the backlash going on with that route So im not sure why people hated it so much, but I was fine with it
Well some will have wanted to see Philadelphia and others, I would assume most others were concerned with the amount of issues present on the route at some point, particularly at launch. -No Ai Tailights/Passenger lights - safety system issues -Re used scenery from TSW1 with same issues still present such as platform clipping at NY penn -Cab car has no livery designer functionality -timetable lacked traffic from LIRR. -no freight Among other things, quite a few things to hit at even the good stuff what went into making the route, a big route such as this one had some expectations what weren’t all met and other issues was mistakes or overlooks of some pretty usual stuff.
I like that we finally got NJT stuff in the game, i like to drive the ALP on the route, sadly the scenery isn't the best like mentioned above, and AI missing, we could have seen a busy NYP there! Sadly no NJT/Amtrak action on LIRR2.0 either
I don't hate NY - Trenton, it just has some bugs that need fixing (despite being reported ad nauseam). Overall it's a decent route if you can look past the bugs.
The revised timetable was a big improvement but there are still some deficits including the inability to integrate freight services, platform clipping, AI alerters and other AI issues plus the poor rendition of New York which also affects other routes like Harlem and LIRR.
very true I forgot about that issue, shame they never did what they did with San Francisco for the skyline, that I thought worked very well and was much closer to the player on that route.
At launch it had a lot of problems. The timetable was bare bones, and there were a ton of glitches. Eventually these got fixed, but there are still a couple of issues with the route. But despite that, I still really enjoy it, and it’s honestly an overhated route in my opinion.
I like the route, I think it’s pretty good between Trenton and Newark Airport (the section they actually build from scratch), it’s just a big shame pretty much nothing was changed in the old section. And the ALP 46 is also really well done, a good train let down by poor reception to its route
Don't get me wrong. I still play and enjoy NYT regularly, but it would really enhance that enjoyment if I saw a realistic New York skyline in the background and a CSX freight train plodding along on an adjacent track.
They're the ones who put it out. Ultimately freight got cancelled because of the complexities of the timetabling and cab signalling issues involved.
The route was riddled with problems when it came out. The section between NY Penn and Newark airport was copied from the original nec route which makes that part look inaccurate. The timetable at the time of release was not realistic but even though they added a realistic timetable, there have been issues with trains getting stuck at broken singals. I've also seen instances of ai trains leaving stations with their doors opened. Penn Station can also get laggy. Also the NJ Transit trains don't have their lights on so if you are riding as a passenger and enter the tunnels, the train is dark. It got the hate it deserved. The route should've never released the way it did and I honestly still think it is one of the worst routes DTG ever made.
after some fixes and updates, it is IMO a great route, would even welcome a couple more miles ... and maybe some diesel action as well
I think "hate" is a strong word. I would call it more of a *yawn*. It's very boring. The usual missed opportunities to make it more interesting.
TSW is rife with missed opportunities. I could talk for hours about what might have been. In fact I think I will. Settle back for an hour or two. Do you remember...............
...back in my day we had to walk to school, uphill both ways, in two feet of snow, with no shoes... lol
