It's incredibly dumb that I'm forced to do a tutorial on how to drive the 801 when I've already driven 100s of miles in one. Is this new for TSW4? If so, why? To be fair though this may have always been the case and I'm only now noticing. It used to be the first thing I'd play but I feel like I don't need them anymore.
This isn't new, but since TSW3 you only have to do Tutorials and Scenarios once and they also count towards Journey mode.
I second that. In order to count journey as completed, you have to complete pointless useless annoying tutorials* for trains you've already driven for hundreds, if not thousands of miles. And you have to do them over and over again as DTG uses the same trains on many routes. Newest case: do a tutorial for Class 66 - one of the oldest trains in the game. * "Apply a small amoung of brake." Really? Why not a huge amount? I'm a generous person, I wanna apply a staggering amount. "Coasting is a method...." I know, heard it like a 1000 times. "Keeping to speed limits is important." Duh! Revelation of a century. How many times have you heard these phrases? Me at least a 100 times.
I think it's ok, it seems a lot of new players just jump into the game and are expecting everything to work without a little cab preparation. Like "Doors won't unlock" post on Steam. Of course an option "Exclude Training from Journey" could also be a thing, but probably would need a change to the completion objectives for a journey. I think it's the intended purpose of Journey mode to get you into the game as a beginner, and getting more experienced later. I don't use Journey mode, just randomly play what I want.
I would be happy if they stopped switching the track stop colours back on every time you do one of these. I guess the theory is that Journey represents a pseudo career mode for that route/traction but definitely should be optional or vary it up a bit. And setting the Tutorial at the Training Centre does not familiarise you with signalling or safety systems. The good thing is, I have bought new DLC where the layered traction such as Class 66 or German ICE is already ticked off, if you’ve done the training on another route. Had that with PFR where the Jubilee and 8F where already marked off as done.
On ECML, I have the 66 tutorial ticked off, but no medal. On SEHS it's the other way around I believe - got a medal, but not ticked. Or maybe I ain't got nothing on SEHS.
if you're on PC, install God Mode mod (https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/c3-train-sim-world/c75-utilities/i2703-tsw-god-mode-alpha-033) One of the command option it has (I don't remember the exact location in the menus, it is most likely somewhere under dbg/objectives), is to Complete the whole scenario. This is what I personally use. The moment I see I'm being loaded into a training session, I just press the command and the whole scenario completes. You will not get a medal, but I don't care about those tbh.
I CANNOT stress this enough. Such a minor thing but is one of, if not, the biggest bug bearer for me.
