just a thought i had earlier, tsw is over 6 years old now and we still don’t have a u-bahn. i’m aware of the challenges but there’s so many to choose from. my preference would be berlin with the iconic yellow trains, but even though we don’t have that yet it seems strange that there isn’t one in tsw at all
Bakerloo line is technically a U Bahn route. Just in Britain xD. Seriously though I would LOVE to see some German U Bahn routes. Berlin especially. I’m a bit hopeful because Hamburg U Bahn and I think it’s Frankfurt ?? Have been done in TSC so hopefully one day we MIGHT see it in TSW. . Also I’m unsure if most people want U Bahn type routes as I’ve heard from some people on here they are too boring and don’t like all the stopping. That could be a downer….
not everyone will like every route. we’ve had lots of high speed and long distance routes in the past few years, so i think it’s time for something different
I would love to see one of my local Berlin subway lines be represented in TSW, but it's more likely to be made by a 3rd party than by DTG, honestly.
Thankfully SubwaySim 2 is coming soon on consoles as well. We’ll be able to drive in Berlin and Hamburg. I don’t think we can hope on DTG or any other third party dev for a u bahn DLC but who knows.
It looks pretty good as does the Hamburg Route they did before that. Actually it’s been a while since I checked up on SubwaySim. I’ll have to see if there’s anything new.
A U-Bahn would actually be quite interesting and entertaining. The only reason I don't drive Bakerloo more in TSW is because it distorts the AP and creates a false flag for your "favourite" route and train. Even something along the lines of what we have in TSC for Berlin, though admittedly they are S-Bahn, would be different.
possibly a project tsg could look at doing. i’d trust them to do it better than any other third party
Maik already said he won’t do the Berlin U Bahn as I asked him ages ago…. Other U Bahn Routes though I’m not sure. Hopefully TSG could do one for us. Just Trains did the Hamburg U Bahn for TSC I think. So maybe they can do it for TSW but I think they only want to focus on UK routes at the moment if I remember correctly.
Just trains is just the publisher of the Ubahn products. They just publish it for Alterr and me. Same for Ubahn and Sbahn Frankfurt.
can’t say i’ve heard about that, is the original any good? all i know about subway sim is that it’s set in hamburg
interesting, i didn’t know JT had done anything outside of england. just out of curiosity, which german u bahn would you like to see most?
It originally launched in pretty miserable state, but in summer it got "megaupdate" which basically remade the game from ground up from (claimed by developers) around 70%. By now, it's pretty much the best game on market if you like U/S-Bahn type of gameplay, few remaining weak points (physics could be slightly improved and there could be wider pool of sounds in some situations) are well identified and on roadmap. Basically the reason why to make "Subwaysim 2" instead of having Berlin as DLC is to get fresh start with reviews, as those from original release are not representative of the current product. Hamburg will be included in SS2 as well, once again with massive revamp and respawning of the world.
Trying to do a U-Bahn Berlin is like trying to break into Fort Knox these days. Was easier when TML was doing their World of Subways things years ago. No idea how it is with other U-Bahn in Germany. I personally are not that interested into any U-Bahn. I don't even like to take one IRL. I would rather use a bus, tram or S-Bahn instead. What i personally really would like to try is to make a tram line of Berlin in TSW. But no idea if that is working at all and there is no time to try it.
U bahn probably is terrible with light baking too hence there hasn't been much of it. Tram sounds like something interesting, being in Vienna a lot and knowing Chemnitz and Kassel ingame have trams that enter the stations there is a possibility. especially because german trams sometimes act like light rail trains like the Badner bahn in Austria for example. I think a couple routes also exist in TSC as well. The street running trains from the two RhB routes are also something I found to be an interesting change from the 2 track mainline routes we get a lot.
Thanks for the insight Maik. Guess pretty much a universal issue now with security and vandalism concerns. We know from Matt P that NYC Subway refuse to play ball and I suspect other systems take the same view. We haven’t even seen any more London tube or sub surface Underground so maybe even that is off the menu too. Certainly agree re trams though seems unlikely while DTG are promoting CTS. Also a few logistical problems to overcome such as line of sight running, much more intensive interaction with traffic and pedestrians plus on many systems you would need an OMSI 2 style system for the driver to collect fares and issue tickets. Could be good though. I leave you to keep whispering in Matt’s ear!
