This is a problem I have been having for a while now, and it is very annoying. Why does this happen and how can I prevent it?

    It's easy, don't overspeed.

Seriously though, brake earlier. You're going too fast for the braking curve. Do no more than 50 past a single yellow, aim for 20mph passing an AWS magnet before a red. Those grids in between the rails are TPWS loops and measure your speed approaching adverse signals and some permanent speed reductions.

Hi Samuel best way to approach it is to think of them as speed traps or speed cameras if signal clear not a problem it’s only on approach to red signals best way as soon as you know you on approach is to slam brakes on the slower the better will ensure your within the tolerance so as not to trip TPWS cattle grids hope this helps

Put the power handle then reverser into neutral. Press the TPWS override button.

Then put the reverser into forward/reverse and you should be able to move.

If you are using max brakes, you are definitely misjudging it. Brake earlier and gentler! I rarely have to go beyond B2 on a British passenger train, and have no trouble keeping to time.
