Popped up in my head while I am playing Midland Mainline, I love the route and Luca and the Skyhook team have done a stunning job on the route. Really high standard it is at! Would love Skyhook to do a Longer route especially for the HST! This game is missing an hour- 1hour 20/30 minute HST route. We barely have a longer enough route for the HST to be set in to have it at its full potential! Love the gameplay packs Skyhook are doing but would love a route from them again!
I don't play MML often, but I like it when I do. Route ain't bad, neither are the trains. They've also introduced their Cargo Line packs which increase the traffic.
Don’t quote me on this and apologies if I’m way off, but sure I saw some posts ages ago suggesting at least some of their “route” people had left and formed Athena, so that could explain it. Again this is from the recesses of my memory, so could be way off the mark.
I’m not sure about new routes, but on the February roadmap they said they are working on “service updates..” “On the list being planned for release with Dovetail are updates to Cane Creek, Horseshoe Curve, Cargo Line Vol.1 Petroleum and Vol.2 Aggregates, the ScotRail Class 158 and Midland Main Line.” Only thing they state for updates to all routes is “track shadow improvements” so other service updates being planned are anyone’s guess.
They are great and Skyhook helping TSW with the amount of traffic! Gotta think where this game would be without these third parties.
Following the overhaul MML is now a pleasant little route for a half hour drive, but they could really do to dust off the working copy and start extending it in any of several directions. Sheffield the obvious choice, but you could head south towards Wellingborough or Bedford, east to Lincoln or Skegness or west towards Crewe from Derby. If they were to start route construction again makes sense to build on what you already have, than start from scratch on an entirely new project.
I think it would be cool to see Litchurch Lane Works added/improved and a special timetable (or at least static rolling stock) for Railway 200 based on the Greatest Gathering, though I don't expect it
Personally I'm looking forward to Guard mode coming to MML, as someone who has travelled on the stopping services from Leicester to Nottingham hundreds of times that's one I'd actually enjoy being a guard for. I also hope we see more AI traffic at Nottingham and Derby, with 158s going off in all directions
