Train Sim World 3 Woodhead Line In August 1968

    Route Description:

    The Woodhead line is a 41.5 mile route from Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield Victoria. The line was originally built by the great central railway as part of the GCML. The route was electrified in 1953 to the 1500v DC overhead system. Passenger services ceased in late 1970 and was fully closed in 1981.

    The route in TSW:

    The route would include the main Manchester to Sheffield section and also includes the Wath yard and tinsley yard branches and also includes the Glossop branch

    Round the clock running:

    (Difficulty level 1)

    Drive a BR class 506 from Manchester Piccadilly to Glossop then Glossop to Sheffield Victoria

    Trans pennine

    (Difficulty level 4)

    Drive a pair of class 77's from Wath marshalling yard to Tinsley Marshalling yard via Penistone. However, unforseen weather conditions on the line between Penistone and Manchester Piccadilly now mean that that the line is closed between Penistone and Manchester Piccadilly. Because of this, you will have to wait to get into Penistone and then be stuck behind a late running class 506 service. Once past the delays, you will need to get to your destination on time and once at Tinsley Marshalling yard, you will need to to uncouple the two 77's , park them and then shunt the first 16 wagons using the class 13 shunters.

    Blasted Breakdown

    (Difficulty level 3)

    With one of the 77's on a coal train failed at Penistone, a class 76 has been called to help to get the train back to Tinsley. Drive this train to Tinsley but you have to be on time as a class 40 will take the train to Shirebrook ten minutes after the train was meant to be there.

    Perfect Passenger

    (Difficulty level 2)

    Drive a class 76 on a passenger service from Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield Victoria calling at all stations.

    Reliant Railtour

    (Difficulty level 3)

    Drive this railtour from reddish depot to Wath marshalling yard. The train is hauled by a class 77 and the coaching stock is 2 class 506 units.

    Layers:

    All NTP stock , DLOTGW stock (except for the class 52) can be used on timetable services and the stock can be used as ai at Manchester Piccadilly or Wath and Tinsley

    Yes definately would love this, both TSC versions were very enjoyable, although the original one didn't have the 506 or the Glossop line.

    Such a unique route and the scenery would be very effective in TSW.

    I agree with you and there is an alternative paint scheme for Class 77 it's the Nederlandse Spoorwegen Serie 1500 which is actually inside the Manchester Science Museum E27001 Ariadne. Which makes the ownership of Woodhead line required for cross-border retro Germany to the Netherlands routes examples are Hengelo Bad Bentheim Osnabrück Bremen Hbf Duisburg/Bochum Oberhausen Emmerich am Rhein Arnhem Utrecht routes. That way you can simply drive up the existing Bremen Oldenburg DB Baureihe 110.3 then wait inside Bad Bentheim Emmerich am Rhein for Class 77 in the alternative Dutch Railways NS 1500 paint for your service.
    However you are going to have a problem with Tinsley Marshalling Yard is that it needs a Hump Physics package since it works like Barstow Cajon Pass.

    Awesome suggestion. However, the Class 76 and 77 were often used for freight and passenger work respectively and not as mentioned in the scenarios section of the original post.

    Good shout, would be a nice bit of history. Could layer in the Class 37 and Class 40.

    The class 37 in TSW are in rail freight and they did not exist in 1968 so they would have to make it in BR green or BR blue
