Had this one come to my attention earlier. It looks quite interesting but I know from past experience with strategy games it can take a long time to get cities and transport networks looking like those in the preview. I nearly always end up running out of money.

The reviews so dar on Steam also indicate in full on mode you are micromanaging literally everything down to the small component parts for buildings and vehicles.

If anyone has tried and and wants to share their views, would be appreciated.

I’ve watched quite a bit of colonel failure (DTG Protagonist) have a go of that game, it looked fun but it’s a PC only game rather than series x for me :(

It has a very steep learning curve and triggers your OCD everytime it can. But the end result is very satisfying.

Think it like TF2's transport management, Cities:Skylines' City building and CoI's Resource Management comes together in a single package !

I like the Soviet themed UI but the optimizations and QoL features can do some work.

The complexity doesn't feels like being complex for the sake of it, rather it comes a full circle ( from my POV atleast ). That being said, play with a few systems disabled in case it feels overwhelming at first.

As a general advise for the economy, there are 2 approaches for all industries.

    1. Bottom-Up - Start by manufacturing simple products and build your empire 1 piece at a time.

    2. Top-Down - Build the big fancy product first; get the production moving and then sort out the logistics and inventory and such later on. ( with researchs on - this approach isn't something you can start immediately )

And in any case, if you build something that doesn't cut down on imports or expands your exports / internal goals immediately, then it is something you should've kept for later. Better take a note for the next time :)

Just keep trying and see if you find it fun...

It's a very very good game, but it requires a lot more thought than other city sims. I played the hell out of it when I first got it a couple of years ago and burned out on it but I feel the itch to play again.

The devs are great, new stuff is being added at an amazing rate and if you like the shabby concrete aesthetic (I do) then there's not a lot else like it.
A couple of other YouTube channels worth looking at to see how it is played are PartyElite and ExactChaos.

Well I finally gave in and bought this but struggling to make much headway.

The tutorials go so far then bug out with buildings that won't place down on the nominated spot.

Unless you go to the Beta branch there is no campaign and only a handful of maps where you seem to be starting with a blank canvas. Getting things like power supply set up is not very intuitive and even setting up construction sites requires a huge amount of micro management. I can see the potential but got to say Transport Fever 2 is much more accessible.

Colonel Failure is great, definitely gell with his sense of humour.

Having switched to the beta stream which gives you the campaign I’m doing much better now. The first campaign is essentially a series of linked tutorials with a bit of free thinking in between. Got a small town growing, the farm is seeded and my coal mine complex has a rail link to export the black stuff to neighbouring states.

Next step is to investigate custom map creation, have seen a couple of guides on Steam re getting a png of greyscale DEM data imported similar to how it’s done in TF2.

I can only hope it will be ported to console one day, been really after it for a while, I would have to hope for a good port aswell (some pc games what do port can be quite disastrously different and buggy when they reach console)
