I'm still finding my way around TS, had a look at the Workshop tab and am a little confused. The big list of scenarios - are these associated just with the routes I have, or part of a master library of all available? Also, perusing a few dosen, there doesn't seem to be a single one I can drive - they all require add ons, stating that, even thought I actually have the requirements specified, and inviting me to buy what I already have. Can someone please help out a bewildered newbie! Cheers.
I My response on Steam The big list of scenarios - are these associated just with the routes I have, or part of a master library of all available? They cover scenarios for all (most) of the routes sold by DTG via Steam, ie a master library. Also, perusing a few dosen, there doesn't seem to be a single one I can drive - they all require add ons, stating that, even thought I actually have the requirements. Many do require addons but the descriptions of what is needed may not be entirely accurate. If you believe that you have the required DLC and the player train is not involved then pressing F2 when the scenario loads means that it might be able to still be run albeit without some AI assets.
The Browse screen is in essence a Shop. By default it's filtered to scenarios that require items that you own already (any combination, no additional items). By pressing Subscribe you can download them and then find them on the Subscribed sub-tab (button). I'm not sure but I recall the gray items are the ones you actually have.
If you look at the one you selected it is for The Woodhead Route It says the Woodhead Route is required and the European Loco and Asset Pack - that is where the 37 comes from
Does it cause problems if you subscribe from within TS? I subscribed to a Class 08 shunting one, and it seemed to disappear from the list.
Also sometimes the best way to play workshop content is to to route under the Standard Tab and find there and play it from there.
Workshop stuff only gives problems. I used before but it made the game to crash and unable to start so I deleted all workshop stuff I had so now not using any workshop stuff at all and now have no problems. Had to reinstall the game to be able to to play it. And now have no problems at all.
It shouldn't, you can drive it either from the next (Subscribed) tab-button or as Michael mentioned above, find it on the appropriate tab-tab based on scenario type. I noticed back in 2016 that upon subscribing to multiple scenarios (outside the game), the game would fail to extract them properly. Not sure whether from the 2nd or the 3rd, but it would have more and more mistakes in the XML, occasionally the BIN as well. At best, it's just a funny title, but it can cause anything. Taking some RBJets series is quite clumsy due to it. I made it a habit to check for the integrity of the workshop scenario visually using Notepad before I play it. If I find issues, I just delete the folder, go to the Workshop / Subscribed tab, it will reextract and being only one, it's good. (Unless you have some scenarios for routes you don't have, so they get deleted and reextracted over and over.)
On the few occasions I have downloaded a Workshop route or scenario I never use the Workshop Tab in the Game. I start by looking at the Workshop in the Steam Client and when I'm happy I subscribe to it. I then start TS2021 and go the route or scenario and play it. Using the Workshop Tab in the game just seems to cause problems Peter
It depends how you have it filtered. On the drop down menu on the left, you can set it to "add-ons owned" or "add-ons all". If you select the former, you will only be shown scenarios that you already own the assets to run. The same with "add-ons Custom owned" which lets you not only display only scenarios you can actually run, but lets you filter by individual routes... or even individual locos. The new Workshop tab is actually very good.
