    Hi All

I'm trying to finish the Mastery Challenges for all of the DLC I own.

Just started on WSR and got to Tier 2, where I find that 'Take Me Home, Country Roads' wants you to drive 100 miles / 160 km. That's more than five 18-mile Minehead-BL (or vv) journeys, each taking around 90 minutes.

This seems a bit excessive to me, compared to any other mastery challenges. Even Cane Creek, another 25mph railway, only wanted you to do 50 miles!

Still, I want my badge so off I go.....!

Yes, it is a lot, but I think it is the best mastery reward as well ...

Woah, maybe do one run per day and you get there by end of July?

I'll certainly feel I'll have earned it!
I tend to be able to play only once or twice a week at the moment (real life gets in the way!), but yeah I'm going to try and do one run per session until I've done it.

Very grindy, especially compared to say Boston where the challenges just drop into your lap

You could always drive over the speed limit just to complete this challenge.

Do some of the light engine move runs, atleast you won't have to stop at the stations

You don't have to massively exceed the speed limits, maybe do 30 or 35 and just ignore the lower ones for level crossings.

Unlike TSC you never lose points for speeding, you just get a reduced amount or none if you are significantly over the limit.

You can always go back and do the service again if you want in order to get the gold medal.

Thats the reason why I try to do all the mastery tier 1's first, before doing any scenario, journey or service run. So that if tier 2 hits me with a big milage, I'll complete it easily by just playing the scenarios.

Keep that in mind for future purchases, that saves you from the situation you're in now!

But miles driven are not counted when you overspeed.

I think they are counted. To get the mastery, I used a class 47 at 100 mph. 2-3 runs in one hour, job done.

Mastery wasn’t added to WSR until years after it was released

Well folks, I've now done my 100 miles and got the Mastery! Did it mostly in the 101, which I find great for controlling speed on the gradients.

I did it mostly with scenarios for the 2 steam locos. Took quite a bit of time but I’ve found it much more enjoyable that way and the reward is certainly worth the effort.

    LOL

The WSR scenery came right out of a Rosamunde Pilcher novel and you buzz it at 100mph. Shame on you! :D
