Looka nice. But weren't the suspension improvents for the rest of the TSW4 routes also supposed to come with the winter patch?

 

In regards to the mini HUD - do the settings for this save. Its getting tiresome having to change my settings every time I load the game.

 

About the 'open beta' for the Formation Designer - to me it reads like as if it's a restricted access to the beta - is that the case - and if yes, is it limited to a specific amount of people or can anyone join? I'm just confused if the beta is available to anyone on Steam on release next week or if it's only available through Steam's beta testing feature (either publicly or privately)

 

So the formation designer will be in beta for steam users. Will formation designer be available down the line for console users as well? Or will it be a PC only thing like the editor?

 

Better not be as it is a promised game feature.

 

I’d love to hear what the more senior folks at DTG think about how their development is going.

Kind of embarrassing that you’re struggling so much with getting launch features out of the gate 4 months on. Launch has come & gone, now the winter update has come & gone. Now we have an ‘open beta’ that is actually closed off to the majority of the userbase. Where are the goalposts moving to next?

JT came along with their first TSW DLC & have blown DTG’s TSW4 offerings out the water.

Considering that we have a couple of routes barely announced & less than 8/9 months before the next inevitable gymnastics of a new title, I’d say TSW4 hasn’t gone too well overall - certainly not anything that TSW 3 likely couldn’t of delivered, and DTG could of held their insatiable appetite for cash back by a year. Maybe then they could have delivered a half decent title update.

You guys were barely able to deliver a 2 yearly update & you genuinely thought there was some sort of capability to squish it down to 1 year?

This ordeal reminds me of that Skyhook Jane fiasco, what an utter circus this is turning into.

 

Nice update. Thanks for that. It looks so much better. Especially with the new lighting and much better vegetation, it gives so much more atmosphere. The “grass distance” has also been increased so that it looks more natural. Am satisfied.

 

With or without opt-in (I mean using Steam's beta testing feature where users can select public beta branches)?

 

Starting to fear another over promised, under delivered situation here. I should be surprised, but I’m not.

 

Just played the route looks great well done

 

It does look good and there's some interesting services with the new Timetable, but it won't let you spawn on foot with the new Timetable active. There's only a couple bits of static stock about, so if you want to drive anything you either have to use to two useable stock DMU at Minehead and a Loco at Williton or use the Free Roam and add a service for yourself. It's rather annoying cos I really like spawning on foot and being able to choose what I'd like to do.

So it seems then that Formation designer is still a long way yet. Shame as it seems another core feature for a TSW title isn't available for a long time after initial release. I've gotta be honest, when it comes for the inevitable TSW5 reveal, if the core features for TSW4 aren't readily available or still broken, I won't be purchasing it.

 

Still complete radio silence from Matt or JD. Who takes a 6 week holiday at this time of year when their game isn't exactly acing it? The WSR pack is appreciated as it's been done in spare time as a labour of love. But it's still marred by the apparent suspension of any further work on steam traction in the game - whether fixing core physics and operational issues or adding new content. It would be nice to hear from the EP the thinking behind this including the assertion that PFR sold so poorly no further steam routes are on the horizon.

 

I just hoppen in as free passenger in a 4F turning in the triangle at Norton Fitzwarren. And i saw two GWR HST:s passing. Looks great. And I'm keen ontrying the beta Formation Designeer.

If features that were due to be in TSW4 and don't appear complete in TSW4 but are in TSW5 (and TSW5 only) then those of us who bought TSW4 should be entitled to a very heavy discount for TSW5!

New WSR looks great! It will be one of the 1st things to check once I get to upgrade to TSW4+ some day.

 

the only thing i noticed that locomotives drive backwards from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard
seems a bit silly with that turntable around there

Anyone finding the 4F has issues in this iteration?

Tried to start one of the pseudo freight services from Minehead but could not get the loco brakes to release, kept jumping back to 20% applied. Small ejector fully open and even with the large ejector open, which shouldn’t affect the steam brake, as soon as I let go of the release key, the brakes immediately reapplied. Gave up in the end and went back to doing something in Run 8.

 

Did you sound the whistle twice to have the 8F release the brakes at the back? I had no issues with the goods train.

 

I hope they will also patch some major bugs like the broken PZB lights of the BR 103, but I think that this won’t be the case.

True. It does rely on you remembering a somewhat niche feature of the PFR banking setup.
