Hi All, I play ride4, witcher3 and tsw3 only on my s series in 1440p/60fps. I wonder how much series x improve the experience with tsw3? On series s I experience fps drop to 30 on dense routes, usually it keeps 50fps though. I wonder what video setting are U using guys on xbox/x? Is that so much better to play tsw3 on x?
No improvements to be had by jumping to a series x. TSW3 is a mess on all platforms at the moment including PC. If you have TSW2, stick to that version. It runs so much better.
Can’t say is there is an improvement between a xss and xsx but the game plus great on my xsx. don’t listen to the haters they are full of LOVE. This game is not … repeat NOT … a mess on Xbox series x. It plays exactly like tsw2 did. I have the graphic setting to 4K
this game is not “a mess” “ unplayable” nor “a waste of money” op how does tsw3 play on Xbox series x ? Just like tsw2 did. Is there impossible golds? Yes bugs ? Yes no more than mostly any other game. Does it crash sometime? Yes every once in awhile and not as much the last couple weeks. Is there things dtg can do to improve? Yes and they are working on it. the game loads runs and plays fine. Merry Christmas [tactical edits by Protagonist to remove the inflammatory comments]
[snip] it's the opinion of many many players on this forum across all platforms. With video evidence to prove it all. [snip] you clearly look past all the glaring issues to what end? For others to fall into the trap of spending their money and feeling cheated? [snip] [tactical edits by Protagonist to remove inflammatory elements]
I havent read the comments above but from what i recall the series s has the same memory as the xbox one i think you will run into the same memory issues on alot of routes they never fixed vs the X that has double the memory. graphics wise i think its about the same.
this is my consideration, I feel it would be worth swapping if constant 60fps on 4k is the effect... Does the x have such power? My priority is physic, realistic simulation and performance.
I don’t track the fps but I have the setting on 4K. I just now finished a 48 mile run to Stratford international it stuttered once in a tunnel about 3.5 miles from the end. That was it. I rarely notice anything of note
I play on Series S. You can choose between 4K and HD modes, whereas on Series X it's forced 4K. However, from what I have heard/read/gathered, 4K on Series X has better framerates than even HD on Series S. I also seem to remember that on London Commuter, when it first came out, Series S experienced more crashes than Series X. Although, Series S is now stable in this regard. So, obviously the experience on Series X is better, but I am satisfied with my Series S so far. I would not upgrade solely for TSW.
Thx for all replies colleagues, eventually I swapped to series X, after few first services on 4k res. all pre-tsw3 routes keep constant 60fps (max), new tsw3 routes keep mediana 50fps... not bed at all, visually its a huge improvement from HD. Finnaly my Ride4 and Motogp22 looks great as well
For anyone considering making this switch: Series X has all the same bugs as series S except for the frequent out of memory errors on certain routes. If you want to be mostly rid of those, it's a worthwhile switch. Its standard graphics mode runs at up to 4k60 (Though with frequent dips below that on many routes), but basically keeps to a similar experience to the Series S' 1080p60 mode, with the graphical fidelity of the Series S' 4k30 mode. I still play TSW2 for the smoother experience and things like being able to play certain services that are not present on TSW3 due to bugs. Be aware your first few runs on any route will probably have heavy UE4 shader compilation stuttering just as with any UE4 game, because it will be a fresh install on the new console, and just as you are no doubt familiar with each time a route is patched.
I'm thinking on making the switch from xbox one to series x thanks for making it way easier. Now I hope they listen to me when I say this but nepclassof84 and strikeeagle78 can you just can your squabble as it has become irrelevant to this thread its become a nuisance. Also children maybe be reading so no swearing.
Absolutely recommended. More than a year ago I switched from Xbox One to Series X - and I find it a million times better! For example, with London Commuter, this particular route on Xbox One would, a lot of the time, have an 'Out of Memory' error; I managed to complete around 90 services on Xbox One though. However, for London Commuter on Series X, I've now finished more than 515 services on London Commuter, have never received an 'Out of Memory' error - although around 3-4 times the game had closed back to the Xbox home screen. Elsewhere, apart from two similar back to the Xbox home screen issues on Dresden Chemnitz, never had any other major issues with TSW routes on Series X. So I do recommend the Series X.
As a side note, I am looking at picking up an elgato soon, most likely when I next get paid, so as I possess both current gen XBox consoles I ought to be able to record identically staged comparison videos side by side on the two if anyone would like to see particular ones.
Speaking of Elgato, I am not using mine because it doesn't allow me to play 4K@120Hz on my HDMI 2.1 monitor. When you inline the capture device, it only allows 4K@60Hz to pass through. For 120Hz, I would have to drop my monitor to 1440p. See more info here. If your current monitor or TV is 4K@60Hz, then you can use the current capture cards.
I play on 27" 1440p monitors at my desk, so it's fine for me. Running at 165hz on the inputs from my laptop docks, 120 on the input from my XBoxes. My desk has 3 monitors, each hooked up to a different laptop, and two of them also hooked up to my Series X and Series S, so I can easily switch between which three out of the five devices I want running at once. (Soon to be six once my new Ayaneo and its dock arrive)
I've got an Series S after my One X decide to play up. Never looked back. Yes it's constricted cause it doesn't have the same as the Series X. But if you're looking for an cheap Gen 9. Series S.
Or Keep TSW2 and TSW like I've had and just swap the routes over. The Out Of Memory bug doesn't happen
series S served me well, but on 65' TV difference between HD and 4k in this game is insane, I can finally read the dashboard, signs, etc. beside this XsS is great machine (60 fps at HD easily)
Just tried getting a series x today none in stock at any store where I live but went o jb hi fi and they said they might be releasing a different version of the series x with a new chassis due to overheating issue though they don't know when they'll annocence it. Which is why you can't get any other than the global component shortages. Also they said it would more likely be priced the same as the current series x.
Microsoft have repeatedly stated they have no plans for any hardware revisions, as the design of the X was basically optimised as far as it could go. Thermally it's spot on, and overheating issues are basically unheard of. Sony gave themselves a bit more wiggle room with that chassis design to revise the cooling inside the PS5, which they have already done, but the Series X hasn't needed it. Only overheats I have ever experienced are caused by bad software design like uncapped FPS in menus causing it to go full pelt to try and deliver ten thousand fps on the pause screen. The S was designed for two reasons, one as a cheaper unit with more options to get a mid-gen refresh to its hardware, and two, as an alternative to there being a later "slim" model for the Series X, since they worked out there was not going to be a way to do any of the usual ways of doing that with the X. Have you tried buying one direct from MS? They've been available constantly in their store for about the last 9 months any time I have looked. Plus you get a very large amount of reward points when buying them direct so could probably pay for a year of live or similar..
I play TSW 2 on HD with 1440p settings on the Xbox settings/TV (series S) . I've got a question. Is TSW3 worth it right now? I can get standard edition now + Birmingham cross city for the price of one DLC. But if it stutters (to much), I will wait. Saw some clips with micro stuttering which would annoy me. Those were mostly on PC so if it runs like TSW2 I will probably get it.
Unfortunately the stuttering is across all platforms for TSW3 routes. TSW2 routes running on TSW3 seem to run as they did before.
It runs a lot like tsw2. The micro stuttering I’ve seen on some of the new routes can be noticed are infrequent and only very mildly (1 out of 10) annoying to me.
One thing worth noting is that many of the TSW2 content is buggy in TSW3. Permanent red lights, random crashes, achievements not unlocking, lots of lighting issues. Here's an example: I'm driving a 146 on DRA right now, and none of the loco lights work (headlights, tail lights, marker lights). I know that on TSW2 they worked, and if you turn the switch on the wall behind the driver to Headlights, you can even see a little of the track ahead. But in TSW3, the loco is completely dark.
Well I had already some lighting issues with the Br185 in TSW2. That went on when I also set instrument lights on. But with this 3 replies I got, I'll probably wait. Because I'm enjoying TSW2 still at this moment and would be really annoyed if new bugs and crashes appear.
4k and the ability to play TSW2020 & TSW 2 on disk format then go for Series X. I have been using mine for the past 2 years now and still have not suffered major TSW issues. except for Riesa Dresden failure to gave HRR SKA layers
