Hi everyone, I was just playing Southeastern High Speed again and noticed how I gained more than 8000 experience points on just a thirty minute run. Meanwhile, when I played the new Boston commuter on a scenario that took more than an hour to complete with all stops, I get like half of that and didn't even level up. Is this a bug with the Boston route are do routes in TSW5 just give fewer XP?
Probably a bug. Boston Sprinter is younger than Southeastern High Speed (I think), so not sure why the latter gave you more points. The points system is kinda bugged anyway in general.
I believe Southeastern High Speed is on the old scoring system. Anything TSW4 onwards has a different scoring system, giving you less AP for stops but more for running correctly under the speed limit with all the safety systems on, allowing you to earn platinum medals.
The old scoring system was way out of balance. A commuter route with a lot of stops would give you a lot more points than a freight run or a high speed passenger train, as it was skewed towards stops in stead of distance covered. On Bakerloo line for example you can easily amass huge amounts of XP. The new scoring system is better balanced (if you drive with safety systems on). All routes from TSW 4 and 5 have the new system. Some older routes as well, mostly with remasters or TOD4 upgrades.
The scoring system itself isn't bugged. Only the required scores for gold are wrong (impossible to achieve) on some services.
