Was a bit worried when I heard Matt say there wouldn't be support for keyboard (and mouse) on consoles for TSW5 - I've used a bluetooth keyboard on my console since TSW days. Thankfully, doors, lights, views, etc can all still be controlled with keyboard - that extra flexibility just makes the experience much more relaxing and fits with my muscle memory just fine.
I was misunderstood I think. There have been zero changes to keyboard/mouse support, but it remains an officially "unsupported" feature. Whatever it did before, it should continue to do. Let us know if not, if we broke something we'll fix it. Matt.
Yep, glad this 'unofficial' function is still part of TSW, especially for those routes where you get a teeny amount of set-up time for the train.
I really hope that keyboard mouse get “official” support on consoles soon. Many games do it these days, it’s just a matter of keeping the keyboard/mouse functionality that’s already in the PC version anyway. I think console users that actually use keyboard and mouse is a minority but for those of us that have them it’s great. Particularly keyboard. Mouse I’d say is less important but would still be very nice for some of the finer controls like the MFD screens and the new map. As it stands I’m happy my keyboard still works on PlayStation. It’s super handy just for the ctrl-enter/shift-enter for safety systems and also the keys to jump between cabs. Also like being able to turn on FPS counter. For anyone wondering keyboard works on PlayStation but no mouse. Keyboard AND mouse work on Xbox but the mouse function is a little wonky (some switches and levers don’t work with mouse).
Yeah on foot starts are underrated. You can give yourself more time to set up the train, and I also do other little things for immersion purposes like a walk through inspection of the train.
