The York to Scarborough Line is a railway line that runs for approximately 40 miles between the city of York and the coastal town of Scarborough. It is operated mainly by TransPennine Express, who operate an hourly service through to York, occasionally going as far as Leeds and beyond. Northern also serve the line, albeit only as far as Seamer, where they diverge towards Hull. Service patterns: TransPennine Express - 1 train per hour between Scarborough and York, some of which continue to Leeds and/or beyond. Northern: 1 train per hour between Scarborough and Seamer, then diverging on to the Yorkshire Coast Line towards Hull Stations: Scarborough Grade II listed 42 miles from York 5 platforms Terminus of the York-Scarborough Line and the Yorkshire Coast Line Longest station seat in the world at 139 metres Served by TransPennine Express and Northern Seamer 3 miles from Scarborough and 39 miles from York 2 platforms Junction for the York-Scarborough Line and Yorkshire Coast Line Served by TransPennine Express and Northern Malton Grade II listed Serves the towns of Malton and Norton-on-Derwent Served by TransPennine Express 1 platform York Grade II* listed Serves the city of York Served by LNER, CrossCountry, TransPennine Express, Northern, Grand Central* and CrossCountry* Key station on the East Coast Main Line *These will not feature as it would be pointless creating the required trains for the AI only services at the station, unless suitable routes are created in the future. LNER 801s can layer from ECML. Rolling stock: Class 185 DMU - not yet in TSW. Would be the new train for this route, and can provide a layer on ECML, Glossop Line and the upcoming ATS route (all AI only). Class 170 DMU - already in TSW. Can be converted from the ScotRail variant, although little work needed as some of Northern's 170s came from ScotRail. As for why I'm advocating for this route: It introduces a new operator (TransPennine Express) and new train (Class 185) which, while there's not much freight or difference in service patterns, can be used on other busier and more interesting routes in the future. This suggestion is basically to introduce TransPennine Express and their Class 185 DMUs into TSW. The replayability of this route is therefore limited, although I see it as a good stepping stone. This route also introduces York, which opens up the line from York to Leeds and from York to Newcastle, as well as a potential ECML expansion to York (and any others I missed). Did I miss something out? Please tell me.
if we ever got York to Scarborough, I would like to see it set up to Dec 2023 as then we could have the TPE 68 + Mk5a sets
I kind of agree, although I chose the 185 primarily because it can layer on to the routes I mentioned. Which routes, apart from this one, were the TPE 68s used on? Also to note, this is only one suggestion I had in mind specifically for the 185, I am planning more.
From what I know, the Nova 3 (TPE 68s + Mk5a sets) were only used on York to Scarborough & Manchester Picc to Scarborough services.. TBH, if/when we get the 68, it'd be nice to have them as either a DLC for Fife Circle (not done by Rivet) or as a/the main train for a Chiltern Mainline route
York to Doncaster and scarborough Class 221/220 CrossCountry Class800/801 Azuma Class 802/185 Transpennine express Class 802 Hull trains Class 803 Lumo Class 180 Grand Central Class 150/155/158/170/195 Northern Class 66/70 In freightliner Potential interior to York rail museum These are all just suggestions.( I don't live in the area just have been to york which is why I like this bit of the route)
That would be a great idea for a route because I've been there for a holiday before but I love to see that in a game for players to play
