Something like Power Wash Simulator manages it by being slop that isn't a simulator.

Asian train simulators on consoles already exist. You appear to not know much about the market.

 

Comparable to TSW and on console? The debate was what would be "competition to TSW."

 

Power washer simulator is bloody ace, it even has a train in it , So definitely not slop, and definitely a simulator because it's the water physics it's simulating, not the visual appearance of reality......

I tried a couple of the Ongakukan games and literally all you are doing is driving the video clip. So always the same time of day and weather. Same trains passing at the same location and if you’re not matching the speed at which the clip was shot, looks odd as do slow motion people on adjacent roads or platforms, with their faces blotted out. They are also very expensive and each route consumes an inordinate amount of HD space.

Best Japanese driving games were the old Densha de Go particularly on the PlayStation. But they are mostly long gone now and due to regional coding you either had to buy a Japanese PS1 or 2 to run them on, or perform surgery on your western PS and use a tool and disc in order to play the game - even with a legitimate copy bought through an import specialist.

Then there was BVE but I lost touch with the original version which for the west at least was kind of superseded by OpenBVE. But it was all freeware and while there were some excellent routes such as Joetsu Border or the superb work of Mr Goku, there was also a fair amount of tat with basic track and stations laid on flat terrain.

Rather expensive though, might be some used copies hanging around on evilbay. Importantly, no region lock, but also no English localisation of course

It’s annoying, when they were trying to sell it to us there were multiple posts per day. Now after it’s been out a while and still has multiple issues, nothing at all. I regret buying this DLC at least I waited for a sale.

 

I do and I don’t regret it. I am happy to have the additional MK1 coaches in BR blue, but I think that is as far as it goes for me!

 

I held off buying this because of the issues reported with scenarios at launch. I'll happily buy it if and when those are looked at, otherwise it'll only be an 80%+ discount purchase for me.

 

Bought on day one, honestly I only did it for the mk1s, sadly I don’t think they layer onto any br era route or at least I’ve haven’t seen them

 

You could argue by now, DTG should have done their own set of blue/grey reskins so we don’t have to rely on otherwise poor quality content to get them.

 

Honestly I think if DTG did it, it would be worse they aren’t exactly known for quality when it comes to rolling stock.

Well the original Mark One models were DTG’s work AFAIK and they did a very reasonable job. If they didn’t want to do it as a complimentary pack, then they could have done a Mark One timetable pack for NTP, which most of us would have gone for.

 

Pretty much been a fire & forget release, however in saying that, glad I bought them for the MK1's even though they don't layer in anywhere

 

The modelling is fine, but the lack of variants and liveries is a big issue. I've said before that there should have been AP-style megapacks for the Mark 1, 2, and 3.

 

I do find it very peculiar that the ATS have not been on the forum since May time? Any updates would be much appreciated... It does seem the team were consistently in the roadmaps, and on here, and since the release theres been pretty much radio silence.

If there's one thing to learn as a developer who participates on the forum, is that total radio silence/ being visibly inactive on the forum can sometimes give the wrong impression. I'd like to hear more about ATS future products that they talked about during the stream for the Mk1 and 47... And more information about their intentions as digital custodians of the Class 45 and Class 40.

Yeah the same fraud of Jane from the MML disaster, I’m impressed how people and DTG fell for it again…

 

I'll try giving them the benefit of the doubt for now as they have been given the Class 40 and Class 45 to act as 'digital custodians' over, and I'd imagine that the agreement was under the condition they build upon them.

If this has changed, I think it's in the best interest of DTG notify the community when ever is practically convenient to do so just so no unrealistic expectations are held by players and for transparency. But it's early days at the moment, and perhaps we'll hear some more about Athena as part of DT Direct on the 26th.

 

Athena’s Jane last visited the forum on the 30th April and Mike last visited on 14th April. They could have viewed the forum after those times if they weren’t logged in, or if they have different personal accounts as well as their ATH ones. Either way, they aren’t saying anything here. They have lost the gift of the gab it seems.

It’s a shame this DLC is so bad as it stands. Given the state of it I can’t get excited that they have the Class 40 and 45 in their hands. They said they had those before the Class 47 and its scenarios released in such a bad state so they weren’t given them because they had done a good job here because they haven’t. It’s more terrifying than anything else that they have these locos. They could surprise me by bringing this pack up to scratch and then doing wonders with the other locos but I don’t have any confidence that they can. I’d rather be hearing JT had plans for those locos because they did wonderful things with the Class 47 in their routes and didn’t wreck it in the process of doing a reskin.

ECML Railtour pack is still off limits for me.

 

Much of the content from DTG gets used by other developers, the 47 being the obvious comparison point, but other engines like the DB BR 111 & Class 66 come to mind as well. I wouldn't say any packs by third-parties that have those engines are "custodians" for those engines on the whole, just for their particular DLC that feature it. Especially when NTP & Heavy Freight are still rather relevant given all the timetables that use engines and content from them.

 

As soon as I heard who was making it, it was an easy pass here as well.

 

Class 40 and 45 should have been given to JT as custodians. They are far more likely to pamper them and maybe even produce a route (like NWC) that would show them off. Very poor decision by DTG.

 

The whole situation is pretty dire if the producers of the pack have disappeared. Will anyone actually try and produce a decent mk1 blue grey pack or is this it? And the 40 and 47 need some tlc to bring them up to recent standards

 

As I say I think it's best we give them the benefit of the doubt for the moment... Well I would until at least December. We also don't know if any of their products will be revealed in the DT Direct announcements...

If we were to get any new Mk1s I'd be looking in JTs direction... I hope some of the unnecessary criticism from the Mk2Fs doesn't put them off mind.

 

Makes no sense to bring Jane back in the franchise after what happened. What was the idea about that? Are DTG trying to destroy there reputation?

I'm not to aware of the drama that went on behind the scenes which have led to a negative perception of Jane so apologies if I seem out of the picture.

Go through this thread keep in mind that after the promised update from Jane was a disaster Adam took over and it still took 6 months to fix it up to standards.

I doubt that Athena have any exclusive rights over the 45 and 40. JT probably have the rights to their versions of the Class 47, 101 and 08, but DTG still has their own version most likely.
