I think it's either the Fosters Helpline or the number you ring when you've lost a cork off your hat. ;) :D

    (I'll get my coat).

I think you'll find your map is outdated, we actually detached ourselves from the Republic or Ireland and floated off into the Atlantic. Leave means leave, after all.

I wondered why my London to Paris flight took 10 hours recently. I do wish they'd dropped the UK's anchor in a warmer climate.

The Reading Writing Hotline, a government service for adult literacy/numeracy assitance that ran an _extremely_ pervasive and iconic advertising campaign in the 90s and 00s that just about everyone knows off by heart (despite only ~4000 calls to the hotline every year, although apparently our literacy rates are declining).

Another one would be the also-iconic Lube Mobile (mobile car servicing) ads from the same time period, which ended with a kid reading out the phone number with a distinct lisp (13 30 32 as firteen firty firty two) No ohs/zeros there however.

No longer part of the EU, but you're still on the same tectonic plate. The geography hasn't changed. ;)

Does this mean TSW bugs are like Starbug, made out of the same stuff as the little doll that always survives plane crashes?

I suspect the more north the toc is based the more likely o is to be used.

antidotally the first few time I heard it I thought I was being asked to sort the problem, in a northern tone it sounds more like see it say sort it (you lazy bar steward) then that they’ll get it sorted

OldVern is right regarding it being pronounced "zero" when used by railway personnel, just as you'd phonetically sound out "O" as "Oscar". This is due to needing to relay information as accurately as possible i.e. reporting an emergency to a signaller and letting them know your nearest signal post or structure number.
Example from a Handbook I was given when doing PTS.
    upload_2025-11-1_20-24-46.png

It doesn't so much apply to public announcements. It also isn't even TOC specific. On a Great Northern Class 379, Matt will say "Zero" but on a Class 700 he says "Oh".

I honestly think it's just down to the VA themselves. Regardless, neither usage is technically wrong and on WMR and LNWR it is pronounced as "Oh".

    (10:46) Timestamps don't work :(
