Loco Avanti West Coast Class 805 Add-on Feedback Thread

Sorry wanted to post this asap before going out so haven't read the full thread yet. But...
Driving the last 805 of the day in the Timetable out of Euston (so the issue is definitely active around the 18:30 as the peak service winds-down), I noticed a Dispatcher issue at Harrow & Wealdstone where a second train had been cleared into the reversing signal but there was already a train sitting on it. So you have a tube train half in the Down platform and the rest of it straddling the points. Meanwhile an LO unit had tucked itself in behind so we had a complete blockage on the "Electric Lines" Down line and no Elephant & Castle-bound Bakerloo Line service.

I stayed in free roam and wanting to act in the spirit of simulation I donned my Incident Management High Vis and traveled "passenger" back to Harrow & Wealdstone. I deleted a few incoming trains in the reversing siding as they never got a signal to leave and by 20:00 the LO and LU service was starting to recover and all of the signals and trains were acting as they should, though by removing trains I thoroughly confused the platform PIS there.

Note to DTG, I had a lot of fun trying to get the service back. If Incident Management can ever be added to TSW in Timetable mode, it would be amazing.

 

The loco has audio farts. When you drive between 40km/h and 50km/h these weird audio farts appear.

 

The PIS, CDU destination / info display and announcements are all over the show on the scenarios. Deffo needs looking at. Just needs the dev team to play through the scenarios and check them. Not sure if the announcement issue is core related though. Also on the Turnback to Watford scenario it TPWS stops you just as you come into Watford for no reason with audio of a spad warning. Only way I could recover was a physics reset in the menu. It then continues to play the spad audio warning and never stops.

 

I wonder what DTG will call that bug this year, last year it was a "core" issue, which basically accounted for anything they couldn't be bothered to fix because they'd like us to think that "core" was someone else's problem.....

 

Thoroughly enjoy driving the 805 up and down the WCML, easily the best iteration of a Class 8xx yet!

One question though, the colour of the TSW 805 seems to be a bit more green than it's prototypical counterpart. Is there a possibility of this being updated to the more bluish colour that the Avanti Everos have IRL?

I only drive on WCMLS, because Birmingham - Crewe is still quite problematic on the console and the blurring is practically permanent there ........ but I have to say that within TT 2025, class 805 is also slightly blurred in terms of exterior textures, especially noticeable on the black frame around the driver's side window. And I don't even have all layers active, practically even when I turned them off, the situation was practically the same ........ then I tried to insert the 805 set into the original 2024 timetable, and there the situation was much better ......... I would be interested in what is so specific or hidden about TT2025 that it has a problem with it.

 

Has anything been mentioned on discord about a patch/update. I still cant load into a job starting at euston just crashes straight away. This is on xbox series x

 

I am enjoying driving the 805 and the timetables seem really good so far. However, I am struggling to accept that I have to walk to the rear cab and turn on the taillights manually when the front cab tells me that remotes tails are active. I just can't see how this can be prototypical behaviour in a modern train in 2025/26. Am I missing something or is this a bug?

 

Really small quibble but the headlight switch seems incredibly sensitive on Xbox. Move the stick slightly and it goes halfway round making it difficult to select the correct setting.

 

Unsure whether mentioned but Class 350 isn't refreshed, intentionally or unintentionally, especially on Birmingham - Crewe ie no battery buttons to push or AC / DC albeit buttons their.

Though easier just to drive with simple set up.

Class 805

Intentionally or unintentionally you can drive in Diesel mode even with OHLE. Tried on playable Crewe depot to Crewe service.

 

alert-agency2 The presence of OHLE has no bearing on whether the 805 can drive in diesel. Totally dependent on what the driver does in his cab. Now if you decide to drive, let's say, Crewe to Stafford in diesel mode, the game will constantly pester you to raise the pan.

 

I second that I done Birmingham to Crewe in diesel and every time I touched the power handle kept telling me to switch to electric mode.

 

maybe it's the voltage of power generator? since it is diesel electric?

anyway, to reiterate, for those cases when for some of you not both pantos come up when you press Panto Up, you can raise any panto via the right screen at Panto Selection subscreen

 

I open the 805 doors at intial station, and that is it, doors will not close. Refund time I guess.

 

If you arrive early and shut the doors they still closes but show as still open.

 

Wouldn't have thought they would risk onboard generators feeding 25kv. Would guess they output at whatever voltage the traction motors are running on.

 

That screen seems to be view only on Xbox X

 

Turns out the timetables are delivered with basically ALL layers disabled except the 805 and 350, hence the deserted routes. Another side effect of the lack of optimisation meaning DTG have to find solutions like this in attempt to avoid waves of mass refund

Edit: seems the DLC disables all layers for all timetables on all routes

I was enjoying this add-on on series X except for it crashing to dashboard when trying to do one of the scenarios and the occasions where the brakes will fully apply without any of the safety systems going off (no lit indicator on the dashboard) and the PCB set in the off position.

 

On PS4 they were only allowed to have something like 50 DLC items active so once it was over that they bought and installed items and couldn't use them. On PS5 they were only allowed 64GB of DLC content and the same happened once they installed DLC that took them over 64GB (it's why we have the content manager) and now the Stuttgart route is missing half of the timetable services that it appears is down to something Sony have set up with the console, yet another limit that Sony's own advertising slogan says 'Play has none of!"

 

At least xbox we have as many dlcs as we want. PlayStation that bit crapy tho.

Its just a case of the same base model being reused.

The 802 uses the 801 model, the 805 uses the 802 model.

Much like the Pacer, which whilst it's the same model it announces every station on Shap as Salwick which is leftover from BPO. Just a case of a similar issue.

I presume they used the same base model anyway, rather than recreating each one from scratch.

 

Well this quickly turned into another shambles of a release. I managed to play some services on release day but now every time I select a service I get the following error message on Xbox Series X

Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource. Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering the resolution and/or closing other applications that are running.

 

One of the things I’ve done which I think helps is to go to the manage game (Xbox x) and clear reserved space every time before loading. Also playing in HD vs 4K.

shouldn’t need to do any of that. However; at present that’s the only way I think you can stabilise the game.

 

Route Blackpool Branches - Preston Blackpool - On Foot and Spawned the 805
Departing from Preston to Blackpool - To mimic Blackpool - Lime St, VT run.
Mode - Diesel Engines.
Fault - Driver assist constantly telling me to raise the panotgraph for power, even when no overhead wires are there.
Depating the return journey back to Preston same issue.

Also tried on WCML Preston to Carlise. On Foot and spawned the 805.
Scenario no Electric from Oxenholme to Penrith, storm damage, haha.
Used Diesel engines. Everytime I notch up or down, same warning.
Once back on Electricity from Penrith to Carlisle, all good again.

 

DTG Alex DTG Harry DTG Jamie Hi guys dont mean go on but the xbox situation is getting worse for this loco. Every job i have tried to load up starting from Euston it just gets out of memory crash.

 

Overall I'm fairly happy with this add-on, coming from someone who values realistic audio pretty high for these DLCs. Below are some points to consider that I've gathered from playing and reading about the DLC:

Good:

• Sounds are excellent, both internal and external.
• Improved suspension is good, but could be toned down a bit.
• The cab looks great in the dark.
• The DLC fits in well with existing and future DLCs, leading to good replayability and varied AI traffic.
• Timetables are realisticly busy.

Neutral:

• Textures - It's fine overall, but there are a couple of low resolution parts of the livery such as the Avanti West Coast logo on the sides.
• No plans for adding the Class 90 - It's a shame that it won't share timetables, but I get why.

Bad:

• Lack of cruise control.
• No beeping when pressing the vigilance.
• Collisions for the cab door when opened and driver seat.
• No guard buzzing when doors are closed.
• At least one service (1A20 - Chester to London Euston on WCMLS) starts with the pantograph down.
• Some yards are too empty.
• Cargoline packs are underutilized.
• Only two of the five coaches have passenger HVAC sounds.
• In cab announcements are playing when they are turned off.

 

So I've just purchased the 805 DLC and I've immediately noticed one thing. There are still missing services on WCML South despite a promise of a significant uplift for a full timetable.

Avanti Class 390 are missing lots of Liverpool Lime Street and Birmingham Services, the Class 350's have some missing Birmingham services and the Crewe services are non existent.

I don't own the Birmingham to Crew DLC as of yet which should layer the 350/2 and 3, though am I missing something that I need for these missing services? I'm assuming the upcoming Trent Valley Route should fill the Crewe services with the Class 350/4 and the 807 for the rest of the Liverpool and Birmingham services?

Can someone correct me here.

I would've appreciated if the Class 390 and the 350/1 should substitute over the missing services for the full timetable experience

 

if it is a single unit (5car), then just press Panto Up button, on the right side console... if it is a double unit (10car), then try that also, if it raises a pantograph on only one unit, you can raise a pantograph on the other by clicking on right screen, the arrow, Panto Selection, and select rearmost panto, click confirm (you need one panto per unit for full power/acceleration)... I know it sucks but I guess they wanted raising of pantograph as part of initial setup...

I usually turn on master key and reverser, open doors, so passengers stuff can get over, and then I do the rest of the setup

I actually kinda like this unit, a bit more than 802, which is also dual mode, but I think weaker than this... havent tried 805 on Riviera Line in Free roam, that would be a true test of its diesel capabilities (like, 802 in its longer form needs a brake hold start on notch 2 to get started, sometimes you need notch 3 to even get moving, and on the steepest gradient it loses speed even on notch 4)

 

As regards the WCMLS timetable, there is a massive issue at Harrow and Wealdstone which means as soon as things run late it gets dogknotted.

On my Down DC run, I was stopped to the south of H&W. On investigation an Up DC service which should have departed 20 minutes previously was still stood in the Up platform. In the meantime a set of 1972 stock was in the turn back siding, but with a following Bakerloo turn back also trying to get in. I deleted the DC service and the 1972 on the turn back blocks. This allowed the second 1972 to get in clear, however another Bakerloo service ahead of me terminated and was immediately cleared to enter the siding despite it being occupied. So there is something going on with the signalling logic, i.e. as in being majorly wrong as the shunt signal on the Down DC platform should not be clearing if the siding is occupied.

Obviously the workaround is to keep deleting trains until the situation resolves itself but DTG/Rivet need to sort this out. Will also post this in the WCMLS feedback thread.

 

My 805 just went silent after a high speed run. Entered Wolverhampton, the train was silent while in the other cab, I could here the background noice. It was also working fine after departing Crewe but for some reason, the cab sound went silent. The rolling sounds kept working but it’s when you are standing still, you can’t hear a thing in the cab. Again this is after an high speed run.

 

hello I was doing this timetable service the class 805 on the WCML S milton keynes to london euston and I noticed that when the train was passing over track joints at high speeds the train audio cuts off intermittently along with the HVAC sound and only the track joint sound plays for that instant , its like the audio is stuttering

this was my first run on the WCMLS with the 805 so I dont know whether this bug has already been reported or not , thanks.
I did not notice it on the WCML B2C route I think but I have to double check.

 

How to recover from panalty brake?

 

Reset aws and give a minute and should be off i could be wrong.

 

And yet there's still more issues surrounding release for xbox

 

Definitely an issue taking over 805's in service at MKC on the Up.
Having worked 1R25 from Crewe to Stafford on B2C, I found the same train in the Timetable (and Journey mode) for WCMLS.
On boarding all pantographs on the 2 x 5 car formation were down. Hitting the pan up button only raised the front pantograph on the leading set, it should also raise the pan on the rear. I'm now going to have to faff about walking to the back of the train and energise the cab there briefly, just to get both sets powering (I hope).

Edit:
As soon as I keyed in the rear set, the pan went up but it is a bit nonsensical you would be taking over a train at MKC which wasn't ready to roll.

the same train then proceeded to have no less than three stuck doors (though they appeared) to be closed, before I could get the Lock Doors message to vanish and the signal clear - which for a train at MKC on the Up Fast should be pulled off anyway. Far too many door faults both in terms of the frequency and number.

 

here is my solution:

if it raises only lets say front panto, go to Panto selection, click on rearmost panto, click confirm and then you can hit home button on that screen to see whatever... this should work... if you arent sure, there is also Traction status screen which should show also if traction motors are active

 

Thanks, I'll use that method in future until/if the process for taking over the train is fixed.

Not sure if it’s a glitch but why is the scoring system different on the different timetables? Eg
Birmingham to Crewe route
Voyager
1O12 10:20 Manchester to Bournemouth

original timetable
8,100 points for platinum
5,050 points for gold
3,900 points for silver
2,750 points for bronze

new timetable
4,800 points for platinum
3,200 points for gold
2,600 points for silver
2,000 points for gold

 

I don't think someone is feeling to well.... happened on a conductor run on seat 48 the middle coach (so number 3).

Also, the interior doors are not closing automatically. I have to close them by hand.

I noticed on WCMLS a full DC line run on the new TT only scored around 8k points. IMHO though, that is better and more balanced with the longer non stop runs which give around the same. If only someone could nerf Bakerloo so a full run from H&W to E&C no longer gives 20+k AP and instantly promotes it to your favourite route and train.

IMHO AP in TSW should be the same as TSC where the maximum score for any run is 1000 points. You then have to hit your targets to achieve that or if you start with the full amount lose it for late running etc. though not be the extent most scenarios in TSC do, where you soon end up at -15k just for being a couple of minutes late at each stop!

 

Sorry if a stupid question but is it you can only 110 between crewe and Stafford. But you can go 125 between Wolverhampton and Stafford. I know its do with the curves but there are some straights tho.
