As I said " for the most part "

Funny you should mention that. It occurred to me too as I was posting, as did the wheel.

Calculators, computers. It's interesting that the very first calculators and computers were mostly used for military purposes, artillery aiming etc.

I myself am too old to have used a calculator in school. A slide rule yes.

The story isn't over, but at this stage, things are leaning more towards the good than the bad.
Proof of this is that humanity still exists and there hasn't been a nuclear apocalypse.
We'll see what happens next, but as far as we're concerned here, yes, it's pretty certain that AI will be used to do bad things. :(

Still waiting for the ability to have a chat with the passengers on the train. Or when I'm on a NY platform be able to shout "hey, I'm walking here" and get into a brawl with one of the passengers. Only AI can achieve this.

The game having that ability feels like it would at one point end up having an NPC stare you straight in the face and going "I know who you are."

    That makes sense.

I bemoaned how useless AI is in a post a few days ago. To be clear, like many other online tools, it has its uses but it should never be used without the supervision of an adult. Voiceovers, maybe randomised events and posters, maybe even the creation of traction sounds. But otherwise, I can't ever see it being good enough to undertake large jobs. It will always need a human to check what its done and because of that AI doesn't provide what business types would call a "viable value proposition" for every aspect of DLC development (rough translation "replacing humans"). See the heavily AI generated UI in Football Manager 26 to see what happens when a games developer tries to lean too heavily into using AI.

I should do courses on "Management Speak".

Now add the VR element too that. Nice way to get some Cardio in for the day.

You jest, but I can confirm that a VR hack and slash roguelite sword fighting game can in fact be quite a worthwhile alternative that I sometimes substitute for one of my weights or bike sessions. Go at it hard for a few full runs and you'll be pretty out of breath and sweaty by the end. I usually call it quits after the second time I need to wipe down the lenses.

It's quite some time a go that as a native Dutch speaker I looked at the various poster. I could not find anything wrong with them, even thought I would probably not have chosen the themes for these posters like this. In general I prefer this above the white poster boards you can see at other routes.

I agree (native Dutch speaker here too). At most, they are (not too great) jokes. For example this one.

Meaning: "your go-to source for unhealthy food". Which is a bit funny. And also probably true :)

    Think about this...

DTG use a scatter gun tool for tree and foliage placement. It takes 2 minutes to use and does what the name suggests. This is why trees get placed too close to tracks, clip train cabs and get stuck in catenary.

See all that missing OHLE on routes?
That's because it's automatically placed, often not snapped correctly, and not manually checked after placement.

So if DTG can cut corners with AI generated content, do you really think they won't use it?

Of all the food I have bought in or around train stations, at least 90% could qualify as 'unhealthy' :) favourites being the Burger King in Groningen and Smullers in Leeuwarden :)
