The New Haven Line dlc is definitely not getting patches. Lol. They brought out galore of patches for Thomas the Tank Engine and that came out after the New Haven Line. That should tell you where their priority was at the whole time, making the New Haven Line dlc. From the videos, reviews, and large amount of different bugs that was reported by people of this dlc, there are no patches coming. It's staying just like that. BUT that's the US content for you lol
It clearly says I'm on PC if you care to read it correctly. And this is for the announcements outside on the stations not what you are referring to inside the cab. Thank you.
East Coastway - sorry should have made it obvious. They work fine on the Great Western remaster so I assume it's not down to my TSW audio settings.
I can't explain why the raindrops only appear on the loco when stationary, however I have the same issue of the windscreen being completely dry when returning to the cab camera on as far as I know, every loco/unit, it is more of a core issue. Basically the rain is generated in a "bubble" around the player/camera, if you switch camera to the rear of a long train and back again, the bubble has moved out and back so will now start raining anew. I can only speculate but I believe this was done so as to improve performance as the rain effects (not including the wet ballast) would only be needed to generate in a smaller area than the whole route.
Nope no station announcements....been a while since ive played it but i also get no "TPWS and AWS is operational" on the 377...but also..more concerningly...the 3rd rail is completely out of sync with the sleepers...so the 3rd rail insulators now sit between the sleepers not on the sleepers as they should
Thought they would sorted this sound popping out by now its terrible on some locos sounds like me speakers are gonna blow out.
I think at this point DTG really need to draw a line under TSW, if they break more things than they fix with each patch!
Unless DTG plans on building a bespoke game engine for a TSW successor it will have a very similar set of issues to TSW, especially if they go for UE5 which still has UEs traversal stutter issues. A lot of noise is made about UE5 but it is still fundamentally the wrong game engine for the use that DTG would be using it for.
Last summer, during the MR presentation, DTG itself explicitly mentioned UE5's potential for its most important future projects, extolling its enormous technical quality. Now, however, all of that may have been swept away by an avalanche of enormous dimensions.
Sorry to keep banging on about outside station announcements not working on PC but just fired up ps5 pro and there not working on this platform. Can anyone else here confirme this. I know its something not that important but adds to the game. When I play other routes like the Riviera line it's crystal clear on the platform.
Yes, I don't recall ever hearing station announcements on the East Coastway, or on-board announcements on the class 377 - the class 313 does have some on-board announcements. This was all pre-patch (but post remaster) - I just retried spawning on foot and this my experience with the patch confirmed this: Spawned on foot at 09:55 at Brighton on the original timetable and waited until to 10:01 to Ore departed (a couple of trains arrived during this time). No announcements at all. Same but with the 313 timetable and same result, no announcements Spawned on foot at 10:15 at Moulesecoumb and caught the 10:17 towards Seaford. No station announcements at Mousescombe or Falmer that I could hear. There was an on-board announcement 'we are approaching Falmer' or something along those lines but no other on-board announcements (eg no 'this is the train to ... and the next station is ...). Quit just after leaving Falmer. I don't know what is expected (the store page says station announcements but not on-board announcements for the East Coastway). This is all on Steam (PC).
Okie dokie, I can see a few folks having this issue so I'm going to check in to see what might be happening with announcements. Apologies, folks! If anyone isn't having this issue, can you let me know? Wondering if there's something clashing with it.
I just spend 20 mins walking around Brighton station. And I heard a ton of platform announcements. This on xbox series x.
That is so strange. Have spent 30 mins at Brighton station and absolutely nothing and nothing at any other stations I am on PC and PlayStation pro.
Thank you for all this detail you have given us. I'm glad I'm not the only one with no station announcements. On board they all work but not outside at the stations
Maybe on paper UE5 ticks all the boxes, however there are still (almost) no UE5 games doing it well. Most games do have performance issues, low resolution and other technical problems. Lumen and Nanite are to resource heavy, especially on console, disabling those features give better performance but what is then the advantage over UE4 for existing games, as porting over is not that easy. Even for the Thomas game they chose to use UE4 and not UE5. Split fiction for example uses UE5, but without Lumen and Nanite, and this is one of the few examples of a UE5 games doing well on all platforms (yes even Switch 2). So in this case they actually used the UE4 feature set, what makes the game performing well. But the question remains, will a game like TSW on UE5 (with only a UE4 feature set) perform well on UE5, as this game has already issues on UE4.
Two things TSW will NEVER have: 1- Multiplayer; 2- A UE5 porting. Guaranteed! If anything based on UE5 ever comes out (and it's about time, since the current TSW is unwatchable when running in cloudy weather or anything less than full sunlight), it will be something completely new, which would mean (for those interested) starting from scratch. As for the performance of UE5 games, I'm waiting for "Running Train" to be released to get a sense of the optimization work done with this engine. It could be a masterpiece, but it could also be a colossal piece of garbage.
Not doubting you but these specific examples haven't given much time for the announcements to fire. Bare in mind that there aren't that many announcements made at Brighton, on ECW it seems that the only station announcements are made 3 mins before the train departs. Nothing for arrivals. it has always been like this. I've just spawned in at 09:55 to check and the first announcement I got was for the 10:03 to Portsmouth on platform 2.
Is that on PC, xbox or Play Station? As reported here and in other threads I've heard no announcements on the platforms at any station. I've waited at least 30 mins at both Brighton and Eastbourne. On train announcements are heard as are on platform announcements on the Great Western remaster. (PC running Win 11) I don't recall seeing posts from any PC users who have heard the announcements on the station platforms.
Thanks for that. For some reason I don't have a 2018 timetable, just East Coastway 2020 and East Coastway 2020 (Class 313)
True. The work that would be needed to modify all the internal coding and make suitable changes to every piece of DLC would be a massive job, we are not talking months, we are talking years. Every DLC would then need re-certification for consoles. More likely is that TSW continues with UE 4.26, or even a shift to 4.27 for the next 5 years then a new game using UE6 might be a viable option. BUT it would be a NEW game starting from scratch.
Thanks, that explains why I don't have the 2018 TT! Hopefully the announcements should work in both the 2020 TTs and now we've got DTG's interest in the topic we may see a fix.
Ok, have just tested at the same time in the original timetable and the same service (Portsmouth Harbour from platform 2 - 10:04) did not have any announcements. DTG Harry it appears that this "no announcements" bug is limited to the non-171 pack timetables. I have announcements in the 2018 timetable, but not the (original) 313 timetable.
Most games on UE5 are a mess, so in that regard it's not really about time to switch to UE5. I also don't see it happen, the current TSW will be ported over to UE5, as even upgrading to a more recent UE4 version never happened. Somehow I can understand this, as every route needs the update/upgrade. Running Train looks very good on screenshots and youtube vids, however I've seen more then enough fantastic screenshots and vids about games on UE5, but in the end the games itself didn't look as good as what was shown before. The performance looks not that good, FHD without DLSS or FSR gives only 40FPS, but I don't know on what card this is:
TSW can look much closer to this if the devs will start making complex ground textures with nice gradients and shapes. Because now on 90% of the route they just smash the fill on a flat surface. And of course, working with materials so that all this does not glow like nuclear waste. Look at Snowrunner - how a game with fairly simple graphics can look realistic thanks to blended ground texturing and landscape curvature. At least the tracks with ballast are long overdue for renewal - eh, DTG? Just look at this post https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/lirr-commuter-feedback-thread.81073/page-16#post-1114823 Is this a school diorama or an attempt to recreate a piece of the world in a modern game? LIRR is a very good example of poor landscaping. Where the IRL train goes in a deepening, in DTG's verion suddenly the train is on an embankment and vice versa. And the trees! Everything needs to be covered with trees, especially where there aren't any IRL, to hide the low-quality landscapes. Honestly, DTG, I'd rather see low-quality landscapes than an endless wall of trees.
