Hi DTG Team and community,As Train Sim World progresses into the modern era, our safety systems should too. While we have excellent simulations of PZB, LZB, and KVB, the game is severely missing a core implementation of ETCS Level 2 (European Train Control System).Instead of just adding it as a one-off feature for a single route, DTG should develop a standardized, robust ETCS signaling framework within the core engine of TSW. Why developing ETCS is a crucial investment for DTG:Future-Proofing Modern Routes: More and more European lines are switching completely to digital cab-signaling without physical trackside signals. Having a working ETCS framework opens the door for spectacular modern routes in Germany (like the new Wendlingen–Ulm high-speed line), Switzerland, Austria, and Italy.Unique Gameplay Experience: Driving purely by looking at the DMI (Driver-Machine Interface) display inside the cab, following precise digital braking curves, creates an entirely new, highly focused, and immersive simulation feel.Massive Community Demand: Hardcore simulation fans have been asking for proper ETCS behavior for years. Introducing it would showcase TSW as a true next-gen railway simulator.Developing a proper ETCS dispatcher and core logic would be a massive milestone for the franchise. It’s an investment that pays off for years to come with every new modern European DLC released. What are your thoughts on bringing ETCS into the core game?
we definitely need a good ETCS in this game, as it is literally the future or railways (Czechs are among the best in putting levels 1 and 2 into regular mainline operations, OBB is putting it on most higher speed lines)... both the part that works with national safety stuff and the one for higher speeds and supervision
In relation to the size of its network, Switzerland has the world’s largest and most advanced nationwide deployment of the European Train Control System (ETCS). The entire standard-gauge network is equipped with ETCS almost without exception, making Switzerland an absolute pioneer and frontrunner in Europe. Leading countries in ETCS roll-out Switzerland: Almost 100 per cent of the standard-gauge network (approx. 3,000 kilometres) is equipped with ETCS (mainly Level 1 Limited Supervision, with key sections at Level 2) Luxembourg: Completed the full conversion of its entire national rail network to ETCS Level 1 at a very early stage (2017). Belgium: Will also have its entire rail network fully equipped with ETCS by the end of 2025. Major networks (absolute roll-out in kilometres): Countries such as Spain, Italy and Germany are equipping large numbers of kilometres (often high-speed corridors) in certain sections, but are lagging significantly behind in terms of relative coverage across the entire network. Italy, however, has adopted a plan to achieve comprehensive coverage by 2036.
I would also say percentage-wise, Czech Republic must be among the best, also they have been phasing out older vehicles that are not suitable for ETCS conversion, either scrapping or selling them
like this one, ZSSK class 350 aka "Gorila", capable of 160 kph, but for some reason cant be converted to ETCS: but from class 361, previously capable of "only" 140 kph, some have been converted to 361.xx, 160 kph and ETCS equipped, not sure of which version:
