So we're finally getting a new Dutch route. This one being Amsterdam to Den Haag.
This route will include the Virm train allowing up to 140km/h.
We don't know yet where the route will end, but it will probably be at either or both Den Haag centraal and/or Den Haag HS.

The main IC services will be the 2100/2200/2300 running every 15 minutes between Amsterdam Centraal and ending at Den Haag Centraal (2100) and Den Haag HS (2200/2300)
These services will take around 50 minutes
Furthermore we have the 3100/3200/3500 between Den Haag and Leiden also running every 15 minutes.
these services will take around 16 minutes

For Sprinters we have the 4800/5400 between Amsterdam and Haarlem taking around 18 minutes. The 5400 also continues all the way to Zandvoort famous for beachgoers and the F1 fans which extends it's run to 30 minutes. The 4200 between Haarlem and Leiden (sometimes all the way to Den Haag) taking around 50 minutes. The 4300 between Leiden and Den Haag. 18 minutes

This route also has some freight between Amsterdam and Haarlem and towards the Harbour of Amsterdam.
Top speed on this route is 160km/h, but due to the ATB-eg limitting top speeds to 140 you will only be able to drive at that speed.

    For Layers:
AI ICMm at Amsterdam and Den Haag (they rarely run on the full route so probably only depot moves playable),
SNG this will probably be included in the base route, but still mentioning it nontheless since it does operate all sprinter services on the route together with the SLT.
DB Vectron Some minor freight services around the northern portion of the route

    Fun Facts:
In april and may the portion between Haarlem and Leiden is famous for the tulip fields including the Keukenhof near Lisse. You can also explore the picuresque dunes between Haarlem and Zandvoort. The part between Sloterdijk and Haarlem Spaarnwoude contains the first railroad in the Netherlands.

Speed limit progression from Amsterdam to Den Haag centraal
    40>60>80>130>80>60>90>130>160(140)>130>100>80>60
    Haarlem to Zandvoort
    60>50>130>40

For the depot fans, we'll likely get Binkhorst in Den Haag, Haarlem goederen in Haarlem, Haarlem werkplaats also in Haarlem and Zaanstraat in Amsterdam.
Zaanstraat and Binckhorst are partially NCBG so will have the ability to actually manually flip switches

When the Netherlands was first announced as coming to TSW, this route is the one I always wanted to see. Should be a cracker if it's the same standard as the other Dutch route. I wonder if the line via Amsterdam Schipol will be included?

They did mention Zandvoort, but no Schiphol. So I don't think so

It's kind of dissappointing that the SLT won't be included since it is the main sprinter train on this line, but SNG is common enough that it wouldn't be too unrealistic

ICMm will probably run Den Haag - Leiden in the direction of Schiphol. Maybe the DB br023 for rail tours, we have 3 of them in the Netherlands.

Amazing! I used to travel between Leiden and The Hague regularly, so I can’t wait to revisit in person ;)

And I just treated myself to a proper PC too!

Excited for this as i quite liked the first Dutch route but it got a bit repetitive. This looks a bit more lively

Glad to finally see some more Dutch content having enjoyed the initial route (the scenery was among the most detailed) and rolling stock. Hopefully with Amsterdam Centraal there will be the appropriate AI traffic such as the ICE 3M, plus not forgetting the likes of the IC Berlin services which can be represented by a Railpool Vectron etc (plus, why not have extra IC services representing the newer GoVolta services too).

    Much agreed!

Yes the potential layers for this route seem to be:

    Dutch
    VIRM
    SNG
    ICMm

    German
    ICE3M
    Vectron
    BR23

    French
TGV to possibly represent Eurostar(former Thalys) services in the way they did for Koln-Aachen

Key missing train is arguably more modern stock for the IC services like the ICNG. Hopefully that could come later if we keep getting more Dutch content.

The section between Amsterdam Centraal and Sloterdijk has the potential to be very intense and a concern for performance depending on how much they choose to model in game with the two levels of tracks around Sloterdijk.

I've been waiting for the next NL route since they released the first one.

I expected it would have been released somewhere in the TSW6 period, but in any case I'm happy to know it is coming.

Not likely. From Amsterdam, the route running through the tulip fields in the "Bollenstreek" (Lisse, Hillegom etc.), is a much more interesting drive from DTG's point of view. The Schiphol route is a lot more urban and not as pretty :)

I'm just happy that Haarlem - Zandvoort is included, as that is one odd railroad by Dutch standards, running through dunes and terminating in one of the smalles high traffic stations you'll ever see (Zandvoort). Haarlem is a beautiful station building as well.

If the route terminates at Den Haag Centraal (it could very well end at Den Haag Holland Spoor station of course), that would be cool too, as that is a nice station to drive in and out from.

And now that Amsterdam Centraal is in the game, which I assume is a rather large task to reproduce, it opens up possibilities for the line towards Utrecht Centraal, and the opposite way (Zaandam > Den Helder).

And if the new German high speed route sells well, perhaps we'll even see HSL Zuid from Amsterdam to Rotterdam with Eurostar and ICNG, and speeds up to 300 kph under ETCS with automated voltage change-overs.

Most excited for this route! The first Dutch route and trains were done incredibly well. Would like to see the SLT added, maybe as a DLC.

ICMm services are very limited on this route unfortunately. It will be mostly depot movements (unless, of course, if they set the route in the past, which is possible, as they're calling the VIRM the "VIRM" and not "VIRMm").

ICE3M services don't run on this route, and would be limited to some AI stock at Amsterdam Centraal (BR406) if the route is set in the past (BR406 has been taken out of service for close to two years now, and replaced with BR408). There used to be the ICE Service Center in Leidschendam, but again only if the route is set in the past, as the 408's are not serviced in the Netherlands anymore).

Oh DTG! If you decide to set the route in the past, and include ICE 3M layers, please include the NS version of the ICE 3M! It's only a logo change, as the rest of the livery was kept in line the German units for brand recognition.

At the moment, the BR408 does receives service at Amsterdam Watergraafsmeer. BR406 is out of service since may 2025, but for the visuals its better to have a 406, than nothing at Amsterdam CS. The new route/DLC is also used for detours, when the highspeed is out of order, Eurostar and Thalys ar seen by very often in Leiden.

Also a lot of testrides from Haarlem mainworkshop to Den haag HS are taking place, during these test rides the also test the Emergency brakes on the mainline to measure the time to stop for each train after repair or revision.

Quite amazing to finally see a 2nd Dutch route, and one with more potential that Zwolle - Groningen. Looking forward to this route, although admittedly I'm not that familiar with the route IRL. I know Amsterdam though, so it'd be epic to see that in game.

For sure this is more interesting! Its dense and its a very beautiful line. I hope so they will add the Tulip feelds with all the colour explosion that you can see. Very good time to release this route around march april you can enjoy direct in all its glory :D

Sadly Watergraafsmeer is out of bounds for this route I reckon (it's at the other side of Amsterdam Centraal, and would require a lot of scenery building to include it, including the rail bordges on that side of the station).

Perhaps they'll cheat and let us drive the ICE to Haarlem Werkplaats instead :) That's also a good one for ICMm by the way, as they're serviced there in real life.

What are the odds on the last bullet point on the take a ticket slide actually saying VIRM + DDZ? My thinking is that the SNG couldn't be recycled for this route, so there must be a different stopper. The VIRM doesn't always reach Zandvoort..

Sounds like backdating or a bit of creative license may be needed to make the most of layers.

About 62.5 km for the main line, assuming it will be from Amsterdam Centraal via Haarlem to either Den Haag Centraal or Den Haag HS (equal distance for those two), plus 7.5 km for the branch line to Zandvoort, so 70 km (43.5 mi) in total.

For ICE services there is still some potential they could have a diverted train run (very rare but does happen sometimes via this route). And ofcourse depot moves to Westhaven and Westelijk eiland (track 22-26 on the A side of the station) If they include a recolour of the DB vectron in NS colours they could even add some NJ services with runaround at Westhaven. My guess is that they will be included at the very least as AI since they also did something similair before with Dresden Riesa where the ICE 3 took place for the ICE T before it got added.

SLT is most common on this route, but SNG isn't a rare sight either. I wouldn't be supprised if they just recycled the SNG from Zwolle Groningen

ICMm gets shunted quite regularly to Zaanstraat. Haarlem Werkplaats is mostly for extensive reworks, quick maintenance and storage usually occurs at Zaanstraat.

Yes, that's currently, but it used to be SGMm and also DDZ. DTG is also known for not letting you obtain the exact same loco on a different route unless the loco itself is in some ways different from the earlier release. That's why I was thinking, there would be a different stopper.

Workshop Zaanstraat is used as an extension for Haarlem and for warranty maintenance for some newer train series. In Haarlem you can aspect the whole fleet.

You and I know a very different DTG,. We're talking about the same company that has rereleased the dosto so many times it is hard to count. The usual for a non-core route is only 1 new train. Zwolle groningen was the first DTG route since tsw 2 or something like that to have more than 1 new train. Because even they realized that having the icm run sprinter services would be very unusual.

Assuming the route is set in a recent time period i'm very excited to see how Den Haag CS and Amsterdam Sloterdijk will turn out. As for route coverage it seems pretty much impossible to exclude either Den Haag HS or Den Haag CS seeing how close they both are to eachathor and to the Laan van NOI station.

We'll just need an additional SLT for a Zandvoort F1 scenario.

Would be a very nice bonus, but highly unlikely. Its about 40km extra in a very high density area between Sloterdijk and Schiphol and besides Amsterdam Lelylaan they'd also have to build 5 extra station for the Amsterdam Metro wich runs parralel to the trains.

Today, DDZ mostly runs IC services, and is not a common sight on this route anymore (nowadays it's more common in the south and the east of the Netherlands, and you'll see it sooner on Zwolle - Groningen than on Amsterdam - The Hague).

Stopping services between Amsterdam - The Hague and Amsterdam (/Sloterdijk/Haarlem) - Zandvoort are ran by SNG and SLT exclusively since 2019.

SLT would be a more logical choice to release as a DLC for this route, but DDZ would be a more logical choice for Zwolle - Groningen.

My guess is that the route is set somewhere after 2020.

    1. They'll be able to include SNG, and not have to model new stopper stock for this route (SGM/SGMm or DDZ).
    2. They'll be able to include scenario's having to do with Formula1 at Zandvoort (albeit with SNGs instead of SLTs, but oh well)
    3. They can build the RandstadRail high platforms at Den Haag Centraal, and use the ground level platforms for national rail services like it is today
    4. They'll be able to do the latest refurb of VIRM (VIRMm) (even though they specifically called the unit "VIRM" in the presentation).

Very happy to see this coming. It's a fun route. Impressive that they'll take on the urban scenery in Amsterdam.

VIRM is my favorite train of any in the world (based on what it looks like anyway).

Too bad Madurodam isn't closer to the station or it could be a foot-exploration destination with little mini-VIRMs running.

Hondekop is a great train. Retired in the 90s I believe though. VIRM, ICNG and SNG are the ones I'm most interested in.

And does the Class 186 run on this route? I know it runs to Schiphol (or did within the past few years) and iirc possibly to Den Haag. I think it's a handsome looking locomotive in NS livery.

I'd like to see both VIRM liveries included as the Tri-Rail double deckers are going to have. I prefer the older (original?) livery to the new one.

The BR 186 has retired service for NS since last year and only would have appeared as AI in Amsterdam and Den Haag if it was set in the past. For passenger services NMBS still uses it between Rotterdam and Brussel. But for freight it is still a common sight. although the 189 and 6400 might run more on this route. So if we got it it would probably fit better on something like Port of Rotterdam to Emmerich or Venlo.

There are actually 3 different liveries. 5 if you account for the grey nose being ever so slightly decreased, but I wouldn't count that as a seperate livery. The oldest has a continuous blue stripe along the top, the second to oldest has the blue stripe going along the bottom and coming back to the middle at the doors, and the newest has a blue roof and giant white NS logos

I am glad they are making a second Dutch route. I like the first one, it seems well made and I enjoy driving both trains, but after a couple of runs it doesn't keep you gripped. Probably not enough to do on it and the scenery is quite repetitive, obviously a feature of the route. This route does look like it will be more immersive.

I think just having Amsterdam as the focal point will sell it. Though I only visited once, briefly, couldn’t find a hotel as everything was booked solid and might well have ended up in Den Haag where I managed to get a room above a pub! Prior to flying back the next day (one seven hour crossing on the Princess Beatrix was enough for me!).

Really looking forward to this one! It’s so very different compared to Zwolle - Groningen. And love that the Zandvoort branch is included. It would be really nice if they include both the 4 and 6 car variant, and also both recent liveries to bring some diversity. But my hope is a bit cautious as it’s not just the outside that’s different for the liveries, the inside is quite different as well, but one can hope!

Yes agreed, such a well known location.

It isn't somewhere I have visited at all (yet). It is on my ever growing bucket list, just need to get a passport!
