Well if its it's anything like the UP geep, that may be an issue. Because its bad

The gp9 is the star. As of late all routes have one new peice of drivable stock so the gp38 hasnt got my hopes up personally

Id love for it to be nice, id happily eat my words.

But until its out (route) its all speculative

That said the CN switched back to the AAR control stand earlier than other road, which make the excuse a bit more valid. Basically starting from the SD70 and the C44-9W, all new locomotives use the stand instead of the desk (the SD50F and the SD60F used the desk, but they sold all of those AFAIK)

According to someone in my family who is working as a locomotive engineer, the few time they get a a desk it's not a locomotive owned by the CN, but one that was loaned to the CN, with the exception of a few dash 8 that the CN bought used

I imagine something like this Go train could be additional DLC for this route later on: (purely speculation, of course)

I don't know how many passenger stations there are between Oakville and Hamilton to make it worth while.

That will all depend if they can a license from GO train, and if they decide to turn a strictly freight route into mixed freight and passenger.

Absolutely, it depends on these and lots of other things and may never happen. Sometimes it's fun to speculate what could happen, though.

If they do so it will only be a small portion of the route. The Lakeshore line is much longer than anything they have put out for TSW to date. GO Transit does not run a partial route along Lakeshore West that does not go all the way to Toronto. Somehow I don't see them ever doing a route longer than 70kms. If they do, it might be some country route where there are very few buildings to include. I wish they would put in a GO Transit line.

The Ideal way to build about 80-90km of route is from Hamilton to Niagara Falls (USA border station). There are very few buildings, 99% of the route is covered by trees but we can admire the iconic Welland Channel bridge, the Niagara escarpment, and the Whirpool Bridge (that will be a smart technical solution, cause the Falls are about 1 miles far from the Whirpool Bridge (we cant see the Falls from the bridge), thats an additional advantage for DGT team and for our GPU). And I think that will be a dream for a large part of railfan from all around the world. Maybe a day...

If dev's find the way how to combine or extend routes GO Transit could be a great.
    Imagine:
Train Sim World®: Canadian National Oakville Subdivision: Oakville - Toronto Route Extension Add-On
with GO Transit (MP40PH-3C) and some of CN workhorse (SD75I or ES/ET/C44)

    Instant buy for me!

People talking of large yards might wish to consider the issues caused to FPS by having stock populate those types of large yards and spaces in previous DLC. Hopefully this wont be an issue but caution might be prudent.

Big railroad yards are performance heavy (especially electrificated like HAGEN), but on other hand if devs are facing such challenge, they are forced to explore and implement better techniques to handle this.

The actual passenger services are mentioned in the article about the route.
So, I would be bold enough to assume that passenger services will be a future add on, much like BR Heavy Haul is the freight add on to Trans Pennine.

Exactly, this is how DTG have traditionally addressed the issue in TSW. It then ends up making the world feel empty.

A yard like Hamilton is very busy and probably has 400-600 freight cars at any one time, there's no way that those numbers will be replicated in TSW. Even with just 10 cars on each track, that'll still be over 200 freight cars, which on PC will probably be alright, but consoles may struggle.

A side note: There's a lot of grade crossings in the industrial area, I'm hoping they have brought back working grade crossings as they had in CSX Heavy Haul.

It won't be the working grade crossings because they're not new.

If the route has a new feature, surely that's a selling point? Why don't DTG tell us what it is to try and entice us into preording it???

The only "SUPER cool thing" that would guarantee a pre-order from me, is if they'd sneaky sneakily built all the way to Toronto Union and there was another passenger train in the bundle that they'd not mentioned yet. But we'll have to wait... [until 2025, for that].

Um, except for the Class 33. That one slipped through the net, without its attendant manual, almost as if there was no check like the following:

Criterion 213: A manual must be produced for each DLC and published on Steam, even if none of the console players will ever be pointed towards it.

The Class 33 has no manual.

But you can buy this single loco DLC for about £16.74, in some parts of the world.

Is there a regular service that runs that route? If so, it would be nice for them to release that. Also, I do like routes with built up areas. I've seen too many long routes in TS2020 where it's just driving through nearly nothing.. especially those created by users in the Workshop.

Then again we are all just dreaming that DTG will ever release a longer route for TSW. I am looking forward to the industrial zones in Hamilton on the upcoming Oakville Subdivision route.

    Toronto-railway-system-map.png

Here the full Lakeshore west route map, from Toronto to Niagara Falls (Ontario). I think Go Transit services run from Toronto to Niagara Falls (Ontario). Some Via Rail/Amtrak services (Maple Leaf for sure, and maybe the Maple Leaf its the only one) run also through Canadian-Usa border across the Whirpool Bridge to Niagara Falls (USA station/side) and continue the service via Buffalo until New York Penn. About freight services, I dont know if they run between Hamilton and Niagara Falls (ON) along the Lakeshore west line. Hamilton is just at mid distance between Toronto and Niagara Falls.

List of GO Transit stops: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_GO_Transit_stations

Aaaaah. I had a premonition on this.... I reckon that they might put in some sort of working dock crane.

That's not based on any prior knowledge, or knowledge about the real railyards, etc.... but I was thinking about the working (container?) crane that you can see in the distance, somewhere on TVL...

Now, if they actually did a working trans-shipment crane or dockside loader on OSD.... then that might be interesting...? It's not hard to do, in UE....

That would be super cool, especially if it works well. Like containers don't just magically disappear etc.

Sure... and we could build our own route from Toronto to Niagra Falls. When did you say the editor will be released? :D

EDIT1: Mind you, if the Czech developer guy is on form with his mods you'll be able to do this without the editor (use baby bullet on this route). Reskinning you can do already without the editor.

EDIT2: Of course, what I said in EDIT1 doesn't apply if you're playing on a console. For some reason I tend to forget some people play this on console, I think because TS1 never was.

Ah... soo.. the rolling stock is: 3-Bay Covered Hopper, Bi-Level Autorack Car, DOT-117 Tank Car.. and....73ft Center Beam Car.

I think the Center Beam Car isn't a flat for box containers, etc., but a side loading, heavily reinforced wagon, split in two longitudinally (with an inverted "T" shaped steel frame along the length...?). You don't get them in the UK (I think), except maybe for something like a track panel carrier....? Not sure though. Anyway - maybe a side-loader like that would work at a dock-side...? I have no idea.

EDITED TO ADD: I don't really know what I am talking about by the way, all I did was search for images of "Center Beam Car"... LOL.

    Something like this:

But to get the gold medals on the new route, you have to pull a train just like this:

And I mean exactly... like a wagon for wagon carbon copy of someone's DNA...

    From a Sattlite's eye-view (from Google Maps, obviously): CNOS.png
Positively for sure, no cranes near tracks. Otherwise, there would be an Intermodal yard with some reskinned Well Cars and containers from Heavy Haul to it. But it's defiantly gonna have an industrial harbor for sure, for a switching route.

Edit note: and the Centerbeam Flatcar is mostly designed to carry Lumbers from both sides from tipping over.

Not exactly. As animalkosmik puts it earlier, it's all about the numbers. Yes, some may look the same as the same type of rolling stock, but the numbers identify them differently from one to another.

Anyone seeking some switching practice in anticipation of this new route should try session F06-1 Manifest Switching -- Cutting Cars on the NEC:New York route. It requires patience and stick-to-itivity, but point-seekers should love it. I made a mistake here and there, but gained 22,490 points while doing so. I just may go back and run it again, using a different engine (I have that all-American-locos-on-all-American-routes mod installed.) Sure beats hanging around here.

Aaah... um, I was mostly making a joke about the length of the train in the video...after three minutes have passed you really wonder if it will ever stop... As an aside, I think most of the wagons in the video are going to be represented on this new DLC.

I see now. Then I will put this; that's what manifest trains are like (a.k.a Long Distance/Heavy Haulers for the Mainline). I didn't really see that as a joke, until now. So apologies.

I just watched the video again, and although I am not a counting specialist, I made that to be x175 fairly heavy wagons....

I really do hope that we will be able to get to run something like that, with the Class 47...

Did watch the second video you posted. And your right, 175 Cars total. Which is disappointing that since CSX HH, I have not seen a mainline train that's longer than the average consist. Which in the US is roughly 100 to 200 Cars per train (and the HH is less than that, unfortunately). And the closest someone did realistically was from NEC NY with over 200 Cars in the Free Roam scenario.
But, well have to see whatever is the NEW feature that is implemented on CNOS next week then. On the Dev-Stream that is.

It just means you can sit in the secondman's seat. I don't think it means conductor gameplay but I could be wrong. In fact, in routes where there are passenger services it says instead "riding along as a passenger and watching the world go by." (from MSB Steam page)

Meanwhile in OMSI 2 although bugged in places due to OMSI itself - Manly has 50 routes, lots of gameplay hours and all custom objects. It may not be TSW quality but the fun factor is key.

I check TSW and I am still not sure why every release is so short - for 25 quid, when I pay for a bus on OMSI I can use it on any map, with TS2020 I can use the train on any route. Cheeze

Hough Abought Ough Snough Plough.....? ............Crikey that was hard to type..

    I mean.....>>>>

How Aboot A Snow Plow....?.............. (which is in more suitably very North American-speak...)

Maybe they've worked out how to have a bit of snow block a line, and be cleared by a snow plough.....(a bit like the hopper emptying coal/aggregrate animation on other routes, but without the hopper, maybe....).....? Just a complete guess......!

I'd hope that by SUPER COOL feature, they actually mean a physical asset, like a crane or snow plough.. But you could be right - maybe they have added somethng that everyone has always been wanting.... a brand new CN employee uniform for the avatar....!

Yes: that, too -- mainly thanks to 5mph limit in most of the yards. The NYC yard limit is considerably higher ... now you've got me wondering what it will be in the new route. Not that it matters all that much: I've gotten to enjoy slow-motion Amtrak switching, come to think about it.

I was starting to build hope that the new SUPER COOL feature for OSD was going to be that they had tested it before publishing it....

Well..... the guys at DTG either have a strong sense of humour, or they really love tempting fate.... Even after giving unfortunately prophetic titles to the buggy ECR scenarios, one of the new OSD scenarios is to be called "Break It Down".... and that's on top of one of the Baby Bullet scenarios being called "Bay Area Breakdown"......

    Crikey-orama...!
