Isn’t there a whole community thread with a spreadsheet of most if not all of the current and past unfixed bugs?

Probably be best to check IMG_0814.jpeg

Are you referring to my thread, linked in my signature? I'm afraid it's nowhere near "most" of the unfixed bugs, but if more people submit information on bugs to the thread then it's easier for me to increase the number of bugs documented on it.

That's what I said in a thread some weeks back, I really Think DTG's goal is just to make easy money without putting in the effort and considering their customers

You know Bryer this is something I have thought about. We are seeing plenty of 3rd parties starting to create content which should reduce the pressure on DTG, who can then go and mostly just work on getting the core to work well and efficient and squashing bugs. I mostly played the game on console until I bought a new PC last year which is a high end system that can run TSW7 maxed out on epic settings which is a step above consoles. Ultimately I believe if TSW was efficient they probably could still even have gen 8 versions yet here we are struggling on gen 9! I worry if the situation gets too bad it would end up in a situation where TSW would need to be rebuilt from the ground up to avoid all the problems it has

Here is I think a clue:

QA combined with localization. comes to fewer employees than bloody marketing. That figure I think is very revealing. One wonders how many dev-hours went into the annual Trainzapalooza sales pitch, dev-hours that didn't go into QA.

I bet there are more than 100+ issues fixed internally that never got to be inside a build released to the players.
There are also many reported issues that were never fixed.

After playing the pre-release TSW7 build this weekend I can 100% assure you that most of the bugs present in the build were well known by DTG before release. It is not a problem of QA not finding the issues. The problem is that the product gets released anyway.

They got a huge launch day patch coming tomorrow and another patch coming in a week or two, between those two a lot of stuff should be fixed. outside of the bugs its a great release and probably one of the best releases in years as far as content, QOL and features go. I think you should wait until the end of the month after most of the issues are fixed and buy the deluxe. That's what I am going to do.

Smaller studios in Europe have a better work ethic and are much more efficient. European teams can make difficult decisions easier.
From my experience in various industries, British teams are notoriously inefficient, expensive and pander too much. Situations such as the quality of certain releases from ATS / Rivet are less likely to happen and they would've been dropped instantly no questions asked.
The market is cut throat and customer expectations are high - too much money is wasted. The publisher needs to demand more and not settle for mediocrity

For a developer a bug is only really a showstopper if it's game breaking, and while the bugs in TSW can be annoying, that isn't the case here (well, apart from the blurred textures on consoles, perhaps). Platform holders won't go after DTG for this kind of thing. I remember when working in LQA for a high-profile Ubisoft strategy game there was a big celebration during a dev team meeting because the game was able to go gold with 'just 100 bugs remaining'.

I believe SCS are based in Poland and they put out quality DLC for the truck sims at a fraction of the price of a route DLC for TSW. Part of that is obviously due to higher player numbers and therefore sales - let’s face it, who’s not going to buy Iceland so we don’t need to bother with Pro Mods. And of course the much anticipated Coaches add on which, if it releases in the next few months, will be the software purchase of the year. Where SCS do fall down, surprisingly, is on the marketing side. Like DTG they do have a penchant for announcing new stuff far too in advance. They are already actively previewing the Ireland add on for ETS2 which probably won’t be here before this time next year.

The SimRail people, also based in Poland, have no corporate or marketing overhead. All their staff are fully involved with delivering the actual product and its content.

This was my take 4 or 5 years ago. Since then I’ve learned that a LOT of stuff just doesn’t get fixed - trust gradually eroded to the point that one stupid little “final straw” (the 805 cab bug reportedly being fixed by AABS but still not being issued as a patch months later) makes me not want to buy anything else.

It’s not that I don’t like the game any more, it’s because there’s no trust that paying full whack for something is worth it - the 805 worked fine for a while, then these damn squares appeared and still haven’t been fixed - I paid full whack for it and they broke it subsequently - why should I make that mistake again?

I’m still playing the game and still have a list of DLC that I’d like to buy - I’m just waiting for the right price. I dare say that’s still counted as a win in their business model. Fair enough, if it works for them too then I guess we both still “win”.

Just seems like a shame, I would (used to) happily pay full whack and get the DLC when it comes out. But not any more.

I have a feeling you are a beta tester. You can never accept anything that involves the slating of the game (for good reason). Stop degrading others from having their opinion, you're not in the 1980's anymore.

Sometimes a democracy can help improve things, though it seems a bit far fetched with DTG at the wheel.

So, I reiterate... Stop complaining about us wanting better from the game. Not every comment do you need to reply with your '50p'.

Then I would read some of my posts and brush up on your comprehension skills!

I haven't even bought the new version.

I was wondering why someone who has spent a long time slating the game who had pre ordered, then refunded on seeing live streams and seen all the complaints then repurchased it and then is now moaning about spending £58 on it. Why would you do it, if it is slop, why spend the money?

I haven't spent the money and yet according to you, I am some kind of beta tester! I have no connection with DTG, I didn't even get on the beta testing programme when I did apply! I wouldn't have time now even if it was available to me.

I would suggest it is you who can't seem to cope with others having an opposing point of view.

Yeah same (except PS5). I'll buy it when it works. We need to vote with our wallets to some extent or before you know it'll be TSW8 and "we're still very strongly looking into the performance issues, but now here's dispatcher mode and the iconic Portsmouth direct line"

After watching a few reviews of this newest iteration I decided to give a long break from this game, I took instead black Flag assassin resync and few others games on sale. See you on tsw 8 or 9....

A game shouldn't be sold as retail ready if it's not ready on the premium versions unlock date. That is early access and should come with a caveat of "not retail content" when buying it.

The release day patch will be a rushed hot mess of fixes that haven't been tested properly, which is what this exact post is trying to prove. DTG should have pushed the release date of the early unlock and release date back to when the game was ready.

    Enjoy the hot mess.

I feel it's worth stressing what the 'early access' period actually means in this context, as I've seen a few posts on this thread and elsewhere getting it confused.

DTG have marketed this as 'early access', but at least as far as Steam is concerned, this is an 'advance access' release.

Early access games are those which are in active development. They have a large disclaimer on their Steam store page saying they're not finished and may contain issues. Whereas, advance access games are completed products which purchasers of premium editions can get their hands on a few days sooner, as a marketing incentive. Train Sim World 7 is in advance access on Steam, not early access, so it's reasonable to expect you'd be getting your hands on a finished product even before the official launch date.

On consoles, this is nonetheless still called 'early access' (I believe 'Game Previews' are the XBOX equivalent of Steam's early access), but it remains the same that it should be a finished, retail-ready product which deluxe/special edition buyers have access to. Pre-ordering one of the premium editions should not amount to paying to be a beta tester. That's not what this release is supposed to be.

I certainly don't think it's unfair to judge a game based on what its publisher thought was acceptable to release into advance access (and, importantly, accept money for!), regardless of what patches come down the line.

I think you jumped in at the wrong part of theorganist's conversation because he was just following up on a previous comment about how some people - despite being fully aware of the pitfalls - still purchase TSW.....and then feel the need to complain about what they have done.
On this occasion I'm 100% in agreement with his initial comments because as far as I'm concerned, if you preorder ANYTHING or knowingly purchase a game with issues then it's a problem of your own making..

    It's a crying shame really.

When DTG cook, they can cook but TSW is really in a poor state. Blurry textures, terrible AI passengers that effectively make conductor mode pointless, Z fighting issues, out of memory crashes on Xbox, rushed releases riddled with bugs. Issue after issue. I don't expect a bug free game but my goodness. Mind you these routes are not cheap either. Though I will say it's good that Xbox is frequent sales at long last.

I don't understand why after so many years we still have broken AI passengers. I don't understand why players are being told that when these routes are "tested" that there are no blurry textures or performance issues only for said DLC to be released with broken textures and performance issues on current gen consoles. I don't understand why DTG say they want to learn from their mistakes only to repeat them over and over

The fact that the console preview of TSW 7 still had the same issues that plagued TSW 6 did not suprise me. I saw that video review that was posted and frankly the issues are beyond embarrassing. I don't know what's it gonna take for DTG to change but frankly I can't be bothered to get any dlc for tsw7. I didn't get any DLC for TSW 6. I got the dexluxe edition of TSW 6 when it came out last year. I'll get the free starter pack only

I hope this game will get better. I really do because I still do get enjoyment out of some of the routes I own

It looks like the one of the most important patches - the performance fixes for the German route - won't be until next week (at least).

I learnt my lesson with the TSW5 launch, in particular the mess that WCMLS was in. I got the free starter pack for 6 and bought the special edition much later in a sale, by which time the game on PC was more stable.

I'll do the same again this time, especially as the things I'll benefit most from - enhanced lighting and epic settings - are in core.

It's worth saying though that games are often a buggy mess on release. I well remember WoW's Mists of Pandaria launch, and the crowds of players trying and failing to click on that one NPC that started an early quest.

I think for me as well as the enhanced lighting, the ability to start with safety systems on and the new automated conductor will be worth the upgrade.

My point was that it doesn't matter if they have 100 or 1000 bugs fixed internally if they never include them in a game patch that we can download and play.

You've got to uninstall all of your DLC through 6, then reinstall all of it again for 7. I have a ton of DLC, so I usually start the process before bed and let it go overnight.

I typically just do a clean uninstall of the previous edition with the DLC, since I don't need a stack of TSW editions on my console.

Go into the menu that shows all of your installed games and highlight 7, hit the start button and it should bring up a menu that says "manage game and addons" or similar. Once there it will show the base game, and if you scroll down a list of available content with empty check boxes next to each. You can either check individual content, or go to the right and hit the button that says install all.

I'm going off memory right now, but when I get home for lunch I can get some visual examples for you.

I think you have to re "purchase" them first, you do on Playstation anyway. Go to the TSW7 store page and then addons and everything you previously bought will be a free purchase.

Your memory is powerful....that is correct.
Use your power wisely though because when you get to my age it'll be: "firstly, make sure the game is installed"...and then your mind will go blank. I've been looking for my slippers for the past 2 years:)

Usually not on Xbox, but I think there was an issue last year when 6 was launched where that was how you had to install certain DLC because of an issue with the entitlements. You actually had to go the Microsoft store page, and not necessarily re-purchase, but select download from there rather than the method I described. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if that issue popped up again this year, though lol.

Lol I'm a geriatric Millennial with gray hair, my memory's not too far behind. I'm lucky if I can remember what my wife made for dinner two nights ago.

Lol I just turned 35, so I'm on the older end of the Millennial generation (back when Cartoon Network was good and AIM was how you talked to strangers on the internet.)

I'm not full-gray yet, but the silvers are starting to become abundant and more obvious; my wife calls them my "wisdom sparkles." It's deff hereditary, though. My dad went gray in his late 30's/early 40's, and I'm basically a carbon copy of him, so at least I know what to expect, haha.

You speak for yourself. I'd rather have the "ambitious" version of this game than the most conservatively designed and limited feature set. I think you have incredibly unrealistic expectations of what is possible with the market size for this game and how complex it is to develop something like this.

They should just block your forum account and delete posts like this. This is insulting. It's stupid. Really not even worth addressing except to say I can totally see why they would want to lock down the forums rather than platform nonsense like this.

i do agree that some people have unrealistic expectations, but at the same time dtg really don’t help themselves. lots of content, particularly third party stuff has set a standard and the actual developer of the game aren’t meeting it. the op is right about pricing as well; in my opinion, £58 for three routes and 3 locos is a very good deal, but the core bundle is about the only time each year where the asking price is really worth it. i still buy lots of routes despite the price, because i enjoy them. i think the fact that everything costs more nowadays means that we naturally don’t feel as if we’ve got our money’s worth. either way, the price of lots of dlc doesn’t reflect the approach that’s taken towards many of them post release

The expectations are only unrealistic because DTG are a known quantity. We can't fall into the "well this is the best they can do" mindset, we need to push them for more whenever you expect more.

Sure, with due respect to people earnestly trying to make a good game that pushes the limits of what's out there.

Who the heck is this guy? You want an ambitious title? You got that with TSW, but what you also get with TSW is a hot mess year in, year out as they rush their releases. If they just stepped back and went to a 2 year release cycle, or just stopped a schedule at all and went to a when it's ready we'll release it type mentality, people wouldn't complain as much.

I have absolutely no idea what planet you're living on, but the player base for TSW is considerable on both Steam and consoles, if having a working product that isn't full of bugs is an unrealistic expectation, I suppose I better go and commit suicide quietly in the bath.

I'm fully aware of how complex this product is, and how wrong DTG have got it over the years, been here since the start of TSW, and if you go and take a little look over here you will see that I have always been critical of the bug filled mess.

You clearly have no real idea of the DTG business model and the way they have been abusing the community for the last 4 versions of TSW by refusing to fix glaring bugs, that they have PROMISED to resolve and then failed to explain why they haven't.

As a little case study for you The Real Casey Jones, go and forum search "passenger models and behaviour", you'll see that a certain member of the DTG development team has been promising a fix/update for the issues since TSW 3.
