It's hardly a scam as you can see what you are getting. Some just like to use buzz words like that in the wrong context.

Maybe because the Beta Team was disbanded after the WCMLs leaks and DTG have been relying on "Ambassadors" and "PlayTester Sessions" to fill the void. Jan even said on the LiveStream that there was a playtest back in December 2025 of Tadami.

Maybe that's it then. I would have thought someone would have noticed.

I find it is the one thing stopping me driving older stock as the lack of suspension is very noticeable.

Personally I think they should strive to retrofit it to older trains. Someone in the community managed to.

    Hello there,

To be clear, the beta team remains active and continues to operate as usual.

But to avoid false conclusions about my comment in which I mentioned taking part in a playtest earlier this summer:
Said playtest is a regular meeting for the wider marketing group. It gives colleagues who may not often have time to play our games during their day-to-day work an opportunity to sit down, experience the game and share their thoughts and insights. It serves a different purpose from the beta and QA teams and is not intended to replace or affect their processes.
As we have many departments, it’s worth keeping in mind that we may use the same terms in different contexts. For the marketing team, “playtest” simply refers to setting aside time during the workday to focus on the game and discuss our experience with it.

    All the best,
    Jan

Given it’s taken them four years to do a relatively simple rural route, I wouldn’t hold your breath! And their Tokyo route in TSC had (has) massive performance issues in places, down to a stuttering crawl at some of the more built up and busiest locations. The grail for me would be something like the Yamanote Line or New Tokkaido, but sadly I just don’t think UW would be up to that challenge.

It’s funny because I’ve found myself getting more and more into Bus Sims these days and much less TSW. Fernbus isn’t the greatest of bus sims but the New England expansion DLC looks pretty decent. And then there’s also the upcoming London DLC for “the bus” too. Haven’t even downloaded the free starter pack for TSW this year neither…. I’ll just buy these routes on a good sale. No rush waiting for sales neither. Happens when it happens. :)

I'm about to check the preview stream, I just wanted to see what people were thinking here first, if it would even be worth my time to check.
All of this doesn't sound too good... NO SUSPENSION IN A TSW7 ROUTE RELEASE is diabolical. That is hilarious. There's just no standards for what gets released.

Personally I can't even drive trains that lack suspension anymore... Not entirely relevant to the thread but I wish someone would add it to the 710.

I don't think performance will be such a big issue this time around because it's a single track route with not a great deal going on to drag down the framerates. What might be an issue though is the way in which trees constantly shape-shift on X|S. Tadami has an awful lot of them and things might get a bit ugly in denser areas.....especially on a sunny day in winter.
I'd have hoped by now that we'd have been given the option to completely disable lighting & shadow effects because they've never looked particularly great on consoles (those short draw distances and flickering shadows look really poor) and not having them should also improve both looks and performance.

There were positives, but as is often the case, the negatives, of which there are a few are the only things talked about.

It isn't a bad looking route by any stretch of the imagination.

Sorry, but what was the genuinely positive aspect, other than the fact that it’s a new country?

The design—aside perhaps from the masses of identical trees (well...)—is lackluster, as is the implementation of the vehicle (except for the spinning fans).

I’d like to say it wasn't that bad, but all in all, it is truly disappointing—especially given the long development time.

That may sound harsh, but I would say the same thing if it were great.

Everything has become too expensive these days for me to pay full price for a pretty mediocre DLC.

Especially compared to the three good new core tracks.

I thought the route on the whole looked nicely made and looked interesting in the most part. The stations were nicely detailed. Just my opinion.

For me the negative points mean I won't be buying it certainly not at full price but I don't think it's a compete write off.

Really, the only thing that’s missing (that wasn’t a new feature long after this route was scoped out) is the suspension. Announcements and conductor mode were added to TSW quite late on in this route’s history. The goalposts moving like this during development won’t have resulted in those features being added as they change the scope of the route considerably for the amount of work that needs doing. The route style itself was set out in the screenshots posted in May 2024 (well received by many at the time) and the route looks like that now, It wasn’t going to change. The fact that it’s taken a small team so long to make the whole thing means it looks dated. Not all developers have that ultra-detailed look that a few of the third party developers have introduced during the time of the development of Tadami.

The train does have average sounds (like many TSW trains do) and the detail isn’t as high for the train and route as some of the other third parties manage but it looked well made and pretty. It’s obviously not a TSW7 route, the release date was for TSW6 and only performance issues delayed it, but it will have been like so many third party routes a year or so out of date for features anyway. It’s worse for UW because they are such slow developers. There’s very little understanding about that in the response. When they decided to make this route, there was no conductor mode or announcements in TSW. I don’t think suspension was a thing either but that’s quite a big one they perhaps could have incorporated. They aren’t slow because they are adding loads of detail, they are slow because there’s not many of them doing it and they’ve made everything from scratch as they go.

Some people seem to think this should look like the best of the best because of the time it’s taken but the time it’s taken is precisely the reason it looks and feels dated. The new lighting adding in the darker shadows didn’t help how it looked in the stream either (and takes TSW back to the inky blackness on the ground at certain times of the day, an issue last seen in TSW2 routes). UW can’t be blamed for that.

I think expectation and time has led to the response to what is essentially a TSW4 or 5 era route that is slightly above average quality for that time. It’s not the huge disaster it’s being made out to be. It’s just taken a long time to come and looks exactly like it would have if a bigger team had finished it in a year and it came out during TSW5. Some, not all, of TSW has moved on a bit which is a big shame for UW.

Now all that really stands in its way is performance in the real world, which may turn out to be an issue still but we’ll see. I won’t be buying it because I don’t have TSW7 yet and I can only afford to buy in sales these days but I quite liked the route I saw in the live stream. Hopefully they can add in suspension but I won’t hold my breath. Blimey, even TSG’s expert range can’t manage that.

I agree that people tend to focus more on the negatives, but the inescapable fact is that - with the exception of general bugs and glitches - there shouldn't be any level of negativity whatsoever in a route that's had more than enough time to ensure a smooth launch. Not only that but every single version of TSW is advertised with unique core features (in order to distinguish it from previous games and give the franchise an overall sense of progression), so it should be a given that said features are included in all addons because after all, they were advertised as being there!
If they're not present or it becomes a lottery as to whether or not they ever will be then people are more than justified to put a greater degree of emphasis on that fact because in their eyes, pretty trees and impressive looking bridges are far less important than [missing] features that offer a greater sense of realism to what they're playing.

Above everything else though, if you ignore/overlook those negatives and simply accept the fact that TSW will never be perfect then it never will be perfect!

after watching and re-watching the entire stream three times, here is my honest analysis:
visually and in terms of textures, the route looks really good, and the cab textures are nice
for me, the biggest downsides are the lack of suspension and the bizarre engine sounds... I admit I was expecting a diesel engine growl, not the sound of a clunker
even so, I’m going to buy it because, for me, it’s a milestone for TSW and I’ve been eagerly awaiting it (and for so long) though I do hope the sounds get improved and the suspension gets added

I never said negatives should be overlooked. I have myself posted about four times about the negatives and why I won't buy it.

But there is such a thing as balance. Someone reading some of these posts might come to the conclusion that the route is awful and a disaster. It isn't. Some people won't be bothered by the lack of suspension or the sounds. Some will put pretty trees and impressive bridges as a priority over suspension.

Personally however, I feel if you are going to mention the bad points then you should mention the good points, if you feel there are any.

One or two who jumped in feet first hadn't even watched the stream at the time!

I'm sympathetic to the devs as it's their first project for TSW, but they seem to have massively overshot their intended release date, and failed to use the extra time to ensure Tadami meets the standards of TSW when it releases.

Sorry, but imo no announcements and especially no suspension for a TSW7 train is just not good enough.

If there's a post-launch patch adding these things, I'm very willing to reconsider.

Regarding the breaking on the units, is this the same as the San Jose line f40ph where if you leave the break handle on the brakes keep applying harder

    Appreciate that, Vern! :)
I share a lot of the same sentiment as the community, really. What a shame core features seem to be an afterthought here after all these years of development, with more than enough time to implement newer things. :(

ETS2 gets a bus expension soon, and I would invest more in SCS Software myself then support TML Studios, it's an awful studio and their product pages on Steam shows i'm not the only person that feels like that.

The comparison is valid though. If running train has a better passenger system and looks way better than a tsw dlc whilst being made by 1 person, why can't a multi million dollar company that employs over 100 people do the same or make a similar product?

Exactly. Who cares if Running Train is a fictional route? It’s bloody superb. Person you quoted is simply gaslighting anyone who criticises Tadami. In fact, even the older “Train Crew” looks and sounds better than Tadami.

It doesn't really matter if Running Train uses a fictional route, it shows what is possible. DTG should already have a TSW version released using UE5, the more they keep releasing for UE4 the harder it gets to switch. I doubt there is a easy (cheap) solution to convert a route from UE4 to 5.

Indeed, it's not like most buildings in a TSW route are identical as the real life routes. Most building assets are pretty basic models/textures. Same for Tadami, the amount of square simple assets is amazing, and it's a shame tbh.

If there is a consensus that a product isn't worth the money, or the negatives outweighing the positives then I don't see the issue. I watched that stream and I thought it just isn't worth the money. I could name a few positives but the negatives simply outweigh the positives and I certainly wouldn't recommend buying this route either

There are those who have low expectations and would gladly pay for products with missing features or that are low quality but it shouldn't be surprising that players are calling it how they see it. In this case, in a mostly negative light especially given the price. If the product overall was good quality, then there wouldn't be so much negative comments. That's the fault of the developer. If negative comments hurt sales, or deters some from buying it, then so be it.

Looking on the TSW4 store page on Steam, almost every route released during its time was £29.99. Only a couple of exceptions (Maintalbahn, Suffragette line) were £24.99.

The delay was likely to try and shift more copies of TSW7. That this route was found to be unplayable hours before its TSW6 release, but in this state it's good enough to release for TSW7 is very convenient. Unless somebody wants to tell us what the game-breaking issue/s that led to this being pulled was/were. In the event that it was genuine fixes of broken content should you not approach Union Workshop about fixing other problems in TSW at large? A four week turnaround from unplayable to release ready is very impressive.

There isn't a consensus. Some of those commenting hadn't even seen the stream.

I would hope no one would buy a route based on some barracking on here anyway. I certainly wouldn't. Always best to see for yourself.

Here’s a genuine quote from this thread from March 2025 (TSW5 was the current game at the time).
I just thought that might cheer people up.

If you watch the live stream of this track, you’ll notice that it’s going to run very poorly on consoles.
And the same goes for PC gamers who don’t exactly have a 4080 or a 5080 graphics card.

Matt has a 13th or 14th generation Intel CPU, plus an RTX 4080, and uses Epic settings in his stream, along with the ‘Smooth’ feature; on this track, his graphics card was utilised at up to 96% at times, even though it’s a single-track section.

I agree, these are all valid points why it is in a state that it is. But the one thing I'm missing in all of that is - why should the customer care?
Because in the end, I don't really care about the struggles of the developer (which, speaking from 20years of dev experience, are often self-inflicted), I care about the value I get for my money (especially in this day and age, where everything is getting insanely more expensive). It is priced at regular route price, so I will judge it as a regular route that is arriving in TSW 7.

Yes, development is long, but the devs, should be the first to realize this, and realize that the platform they are developing for will move on, and incorporate new feature, and they needs to be prepared to implement them, if they want their product to be competive. Especially if we're not realy talking about TSW 7 features, but about TSW 6 and late TSW 5 features. Like suspension and passenger announcement. And when Liberec - Stare Paka - similarly made by a small team, new region, can have them in March, half year after TSW 6 release (and If I remember correctly, alterning the suspension code in a big way, becasue they didn't liked how it behaved on their trains..). Then I would expect them in a Late September TSW 7 release.
When you had releases like Liberec- Stara Paka, or Medway Valley, or lower priced London Overground, it is hard to play the 'it took us too long' card.

And, in the end, Matt hismelf, as an executive producer of this platform, didn't do this route much service either. I know it is a third party, and that DTG cannot micro-manage every studio.. But on one hand - these are not Just Trains, or TSG with a proven record, and on the other, this is a high profile, highly anticipated, multiple times delayed, release - new studio, new, very desired, region.. I would expect little bit more of overview of what's the state of the route, and what major feature it does or does not have. Not embarassingly stare on a train wheel, only to find out the whole model is rigid and there is no suspension, or needing to write a note to figure if TSRs are implemented. What preparations were done for that stream, when they cannot even answer the most obvious questions people will ask? Do they really not have atleast a basic checklist for these things? And was it realy a presentation of a product to potentional customers, or the first hand-on experience by the executive producer?

I was really looking for this route, and I love UW work in TSC... but I will most likely hold out for a sale.

Based on the comments Ive seen here and elsewhere, there is mostly a negative reception. I agree that people should take a look for themselves but it brings me back to my original point that if the product that was shown on stream was of a good quality, there wouldn't be so many negative comments. That's not barraking.

Looking at feedback on these forums and elsewhere does help those in deciding what routes they should or should not buy.

Initially it was negative but several people have stated that the route doesn't look bad.

What message does it send when people wade in when they haven't even seen the stream? Most often in these situations after the initial comments of how awful the product is, you start getting, well actually it isn't as bad as made out.

It happened after the initial TSW7 stream and has happened many times going back to the early railsim days.

And I'm saying this as someone who won't be buying it as I don't think it's good enough not to have suspension and not have other features standard in TSW7. Plus some of the tunnel lighting looked poor. But I am level headed enough, I hope, to see there are many good points about the route and if some of these things which bother me are addressed then I'd be happy to buy it. But obviously for some that isn't enough which is fine.
