It’s funny how DTG actually fixed this. Maybe DTG took his thread seriously.

Er... No, it was a false alarm. I think that they haven't fixed it. Yet...

A year in a 101 room isn't bad. Plenty of time to master those lap brakes and gearbox.

According to some vague scribblings I found in an old re-charging pod......The Company didn't really have much choice.... with respect to the "DB BR 155". This "MUST FIX BUG" has now been fixed on RSN on PS4 - but possibly in a way that could make it break quite easily again on any new routes, or possibly modified existing routes - say... if they didn't fix the loco, but just made a quick-fix to the RSN tunnels.

But... and I can only just make out the writing here*.... the Class 47 is different. The numerous faults with the Class 47 aren't quite so clear cut, blatant or DLC crippling. Console users could seriously be considered to be simply unlucky on this one, if the maker is cynical enough. Apparently. According to these notes. Oooh - I think I might grab that spare RS-232 cable while I am here... I am sure nobody will miss it.

Wait a second..... oh - I think these words might mean something.... it's some sort of code... doesn't make sense... the words say: ALCUIN CAPITAL PARTNERS....does that mean anything to anyone....? Above it are the words "This is the magic phrase to use, if all is not well with the Class 47 by 1st June 2020. ALCUIN holds The Key to it all. It also says: "Go to ALCUIN and spill some beanz on their ground - and many flowers will grow. Let the cat out of the bag."

Looks like gibberish to me. Although I like the bit about cats - nobody should store cats in bags - that's contrary to the Cat-herding Code Rule 12.4(B)(ii). You can get your cat-keeping permits revoked for bagging cats....!

Aaah... ooh... aaah..... oh bother.... It says here NOT to mention the phrase ALCUIN CAPITAL PARTNERS until it is absolutely necessary.... Oooops....!!!

    -------
*(yellow crayon, on brushed aluminium can be difficult to read... and clean off... oooh - I needed a nice bit of aluminium - I might make a hat with it)

It was fixed with other bugs if I recall. I suspect it was always going to be fixed, I get the impression they issues fixes in a block not one at a time.

I'm sure Alcuin Capital Partners would love to know everyone's opinion of the company they have invested in but I can't help but think that ACP are the ones driving DTG into churning out the recent, poor value (in my opinion) DLC to improve the yield on their investment.

Wow sounds like the type of person to call the police if their McDonald’s fries aren’t salty enough. Threatening “legal action” and causing all this unnecessary drama is so childish.

Except McDonald's would rectify the problem immediately and without fuss. They wouldn't ignore you and keep you waiting for well over a year wondering if you will ever get that salt on your cold fries.

Aaah - Maybe these people can influence decisions to fix things...? Wait...wait a second... I have an incoming message.... :

    ------------------
"I love The Company. I love The Company. Please stop. No more pictures of train wrecks.... please... No... No....! Not Network Rail's Timetable Planning Strategy... No.... take it away..... Oh... They stopped.... Phweew... Ah.... Plastic.. Plastic... Are You There...? Plastic... The others need to know this.... about ALCUIN.... It's a double-edged sword... Not one with edges on both sides... one with an edge on the handle.. Be careful.....! It can go two ways....

    1. If Alcuin set out a Strategic Direction in 2016, to push Products to multiple mass-market platforms in a sustainable way, with a "long term" development... then they would be disturbed to hear about things like still not understanding console markets or how trophies work, extremely poor retention rates, mis-marketing DLC on Japanese provider networks (say - not including the Baby Bullet), mis-branding on American sites with phrases like "Train Simulator World" and unresolved console-specific bugs that decimate good will. If that's the case, then maybe "a word in their shell-like" might have an impact.... They might even demand that The Company takes action, like hiring a specialist manager that understands console-users as priority number one...:

    https://dovetailgames.com/vacancies/community-manager-trains

    BUT...

    2. If Alcuin have pushed for a "Smash and Grab" - with intense short-term market penetration, rapid capital return and then withdrawal and collapse... then you're scr*wed..... but you don't lose anything by finding this out now for sure."
    ------------------

So.... Surely they are the Good Guys - Option 1....? These are the same guys that helped bring Krispy Kreme to the masses....! And The Blood Angels. Anyone that supports the idea of Angelic Marines with Big Guns in miniature has to be working to the good. How about Blood Angel Marines made out of dough, with hundreds and thousands spread on top... Sounds delish...! Krispy Kreme Games Workshop merger anyone...?

Ooooh.... I wonder... I am thinking of expanding my cat-based company. Maybe I should get in touch with these Alcuin guys... I have a very firm proposal for them, which will put a new cat in every abode in the Western World.

and what if they dont? it still wont be a normal reaction to call the police or threaten legal action. im not saying that DTG’s business practices are good or bad. im saying that this whole thing is childish. is there really any legal basis behind all this? the fact that it was posted on the forum as opposed to a formal letter/email to DTG already says a lot. and that list of people that they will contact: why are they contacting microsoft? or epic games? how are they relevant?

I guess it's a sign of frustration. The feeling that you, as a paying customer, are not being listened to or taken seriously and refuse to be treated like a doormat. Having a spine. That sort of thing.

I understand that. I myself and im sure lots of you have a whole laundry list of problems/bugs/changes that i/we think need to be fixed/added. Its the (questionably serious) threatening of legal action that doesnt sit right with me. im not specifically against that person taking legal action (though I still have doubts on whether there is a chance of winning the case).

To ease your mind... nobody is threatening any sort of legal action at all.

The 155 is fixed (for now - assuming it doesn't get unfixed anytime soon). Amount spent on legal fees = $0.

Just the 47 to go. It's not a laundry list - it's critical MUST FIX bug territory on consoles, which if they happened on PC, would have been fixed immediately. Over a year ago. For the Class 47 - sometime in the next sixteen days would be acceptable - or, indeed, to quote Edwardius..... "lucky"..

Apparently formal action will commence for the Class 47, if it becomes necessary. And... to be clear... this means first re-submitting a bug report via the normal channels.... then maybe writing a letter to The Company (with recorded mail if the email isn't dealt with)... etc.... It could be a long slow process, and others, such as Sony, Microsoft, Epic (the maker of UE) and various others might well be asked for their opinions on what can be "reasonably expected" - formally. None of that needs to happen, if the 47 gets fixed.

It would just be a base-lining exercise.

By the way - none of this is some sort of sudden whimsy.... these are issues that have been reported, ignored, reported, ignored, reported, ignored, reported, ignored, reported, ignored,... for over a year.

All of this could have been avoided if someone chose to test the Class 47 on the platforms it was to be sold on, rather than relying on "luck" for the port from Dev PC to consoles to be successful.

They did rectify the problem there was a fix, which also fixed other issues. And there wasn't a fuss, from them anyway, the fuss was on here! They certainly don't help themselves with communication but they were obviously aware of it!

It is probably far easier to fix a problem with MacDonalds fries than a piece of software! It is easy to sit on your sofa and say fix this now, maybe it isn't as simple for the developer as you like to think!

I'd didn't say there was a fuss from DTG. They are the epitome of unfussed it seems.

The 47 has not been fixed.

Synthetic has asked me to ask you if you would be willing to give your personal permission for the faults with the Class 47 on PS4 and XBox to be reported through The Company's bug reporting portal. Would you be okay with that?

So - if the Class 47 is not fixed by 31st May 2020, is it okay with you - if the bugs then get reported to the maker? If this isn't okay with you, can you please give your reasons? Synthetic doesn't want to do anything that would upset you - because Synthetic believes that you are a truly wonderful person.

Did you not wrote this few hours ago.
Anyway - I will be off now. I never signed up to be a messaging exchange centre. I have things to do, cats to herd, feed and pamper.
You complain about dovetail but you are 100 times worse than them. you never do as you say.
You seem to have one goal only and that is to tease people and to be blocked.

Well.... you learn something new every day....! You sound like you know a great deal about this "fixing bugs in a block" process. As for me - all I know about is cats. Ask me a question about cats, and I am your droid.

Anyhoo... I happened to notice that there are a large number of very distressed people on other threads that are complaining about bugs they have discovered in the new LIRR M3 unit, recently advertised by the Department of TRUTH.

I was wondering... maybe... if you could pop over there, and let them know that their issues will probably be fixed, maybe, in about 12 months, but, of course.... you know.... in a block (like the DB BR 155), as part of the normal routine, then I am sure that this will cut down their feelings of angst and woe and bring a great deal of joy and LOVE to their hearts (or fluid oil pumps, depending on the genome/design).

If the Class 47 fix is imminent, then the wait for that has only been 18 months. So you could give the poor LIRR M3 people a great deal of solace and perhaps some hope, by letting them know that their wait time could be as little as 12-18 months.

ĖAfter the Br 204 release (which wasnt perfect), Rivet Games took a good way to communicate with us, the customers who are willing to pay not little money for tsw dlc's. If you buy something whats defenetly broken/not complete, you cannot be ok with it. Yeah mistakes can happen, maybe its hard to test every aspect but i cannot accept that DTG just denies to 1. Communicate these problems and 2. Seems to not be bothered to fix these failures. A Loco with a complete misbehaving power-output is a big one in my eyes, as it makes it 'unusable' at leat on the NTP. They missing to upgrade older Routes, fix things that they even promissed. It feels a bit like we , the console players, are here to bring in the big cash (never seen such offers as on the PC) but we are not worthy enough to be cared for.... The most shocking for me personaly are the People who defending these Politics, as they are are simply not ok.

Im not a Game Developer, i have absolutely no idea how to create such a Game and in the end of the Day i would just like to sit down and take a ride on tsw. There are still some good Routes, great locos and often a great atmosphere, Routes getting better details, performance mostly went better. So there are not all things bad.

I just cannot understand why they dont take a look back, because i have the feel even small changes (like the PIS on the DB Br143 f.e.) would have a big impact, instead they giving us more DLCs to buy.

I for myself decided NOT to purchase any further DLCs, at least as long as they will not fix old, doable problems.

If i missed some Communication from DTG about this, please let me know.

Further on, this is NOT meant as hate or anything, i just want( as hopefully all of you ) a good quality Train Sim to play. Thats all.

Well, they've got a few days to get that Class 47 patch across to console users, before we reach the point of no return. And they've had 18 months so far - you have to draw a line somewhere.

We are all ready to start the more formal process, if that is what is needed - and anyway, it would be really good to get feedback from the other companies involved in getting the content to us - to see if everyone's expectations are being met... you know?

Is it? Is it really extreme to submit a bug report....? If it is extreme to do this.... then why does this advice exist:

    https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/welcome-to-the-known-issues-bug-reports-section.5310/

That link gives the impression that users should "feel free to submit a bug report. " Why would they advise this, if such an initial formal action was regarded as extreme? Instead of "extreme" - did you really mean to use the phrase "completely routine"....? It is easy to mistake the two concepts, to be fair.

It's not extreme to a submit a big report, but just read through it.

I have sneakily managed to intercept a diary/schedule for June... and there's a small piece of paper fixed to the entry for 1st June 2020 that says "This can now wait until the Class 20 is released. But if the Class 20 arrives before the Class 47 is fixed on PS4 and XBox, then put on some sun-glasses and press the large red button".

    Whatever that means....?

Someone's in a good mood. If PlasticPal wants to reply saying that then they will.

My understanding is that nobody is going to sue anyone.

There might be an exchange of correspondence. There could then be clarification sought from Sony and Microsoft about things like QA timelines for "must fix" bugs and their expectations for parity of quality on cross-platform titles, etc. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. Nobody suggested anything about an announcement being made on 1st June - these things take time to process.

The DB BR 155 has now been fixed (sort of), and Matt P has explicitly indicated online that the patch for the Class 47 was being tested on 30th May. The next scheduled date for a general patch to be delivered will be in preparation for the Class 20 in the week commencing 15th June. So it seems fair to wait until then.... but only until then... before anything is taken forward to press the Class 47 issue until it is fixed.

    That is my understanding... anyway.

Ahoy there...! I was just wandering down the road with my Scrabble set under my arm, when I bumped into an old friend of mine. This knocked my Scrabble set onto the floor, causing a terrible mess.....

...anyway... the word on the street..... is that the Class 47 has been fixed, and that a patch will be rolled out to PS4 and XBox within the next week or so.... ;-)

Well that's very good news. I look forward to finally moving some TEAs with it.
