Think this thread is just as much anticipated as the Official DTG patch.

WIP. Concrete walls at Stratford International are now a lot lighter looking, brightening up the overall gloomy feel the station had by default.

I may change these default textures are they are fairly low res..

Hey, any chance of a ballast re texture? Very strange looking, amazing work so far! Looking forward to the release.

AIUI DTG have used the same ballast texture for both the high-speed and conventional lines, so one of them is always going to look a little wrong. The current implementation is a compromise.

DTG were lazy with the ballast and only used one type across the whole route, so I used the ballast you’d see on the ‘classic’ section of the line, although it may look a bit off on the high speed section. Ultimately, there’s no win-win situation thanks to the way the route was built.

No problem, I'm sure it'll look much better regardless, currently only playing the route in low light settings/spring/autumn. Reshade to change appearance.

    Cheers for the response!

What would you prefer? Indifferent, complacent, uncaring, disinterested, sloppy...

I think ‘pushed for time’ or ‘rushed’ is probably closest to the mark but either way, it’s not really good enough.

Some more fixes to the concrete texture around Stratford International, blends in much better with the surrounding scenery compared to the horribly dark and off putting concrete used by default.

Do you have an INI file you'd be willing to share for ReShade? Are there ones out there already for TSW2 (or should I use one from TSW2020)?

Lovely stuff LM. Your ballast looks darker than default, is it the lighting or have you modded it? Mine is a light grey colour.

It's amazing what can be done in what.. less than two weeks since it was officially released. I think a big thanks should go to DTG for allowing people to do a great job on what was/is currently an average route.

Hi, I changed it so it more typical to what you see on the classic section of the route. Unfortunately DTG only provided one ballast texture for the entire route so I can’t have two separate textures, one for the high speed section and one for the classic section. So this will have to do. It looks great on the classic section, if I must say so myself.

You are far to kind to Stratford.

I’d buy it just for the londonmidland touch alone. See why the community would benefit from the editor; maybe not to have access to code but able to make it look like it should. Props for doing this without an editor!!!

Can anything be done about the cars and trucks? I have no idea how DTG have made them 200% glossy but....or trucks with brands on them, say ASDA, Network Rail vans etc?

Did you notice that on a number of them the windows are now opaque? The cars were obviously on the ‘optimisation’ list because now, at least 50% of them look rubbish. They looked good before.

Great work being done on this route, LM. Hats down this might make me get the route with a 15-20 % discount instead of 30-35 %. :D And it's basically just about toying with textures DTG could've done in the first place. I can only imagine what happens when people like you and trainsimcz get your hands on the asset placement (the giant donkeys were a spark of hope :D).

The worst part about this patch is not the patch itself, but the fact it has to exist in the first place. DTG really had to screw up possibly the most anticipated route for TSW2...

After DTG's failed attempt to add a decent looking light to the dials, I decided to fix it myself.

A before vs after comparison showing the improvements.

    Changes:
    - Higher resolution numbers
    - Circular back-light as opposed to almost hexagon looking
    - Dust effects added
    - Fade around edges to emphasise a 3D look.

Looks very nice will you be updating this when they illuminate the pointer? I guess you can't do the illumination yourself.

Hi. There’s no illuminate provided by default currently so I am unable to do anything until DTG add this to the pointers.

If/when they do, I will update this patch.

To be fair the dials as DTG have done them could well be spot on to how they are in reality as they appear to be edge lit by LEDs hence the weird look. The issue is just the needle not being illuminated. Would be interesting to see an image of them in reality as any cabride videos i've seen don't show the dash and I haven't found any cab images that confirm either.

    ***EDIT***
I've just found a couple of images showing that the dial illumination as done by DTG is indeed as per the real thing (Except for the needles of course).... One shows the both dials illuminated from the outer edge and the other shows the individual LEDs around the outer edge of the right hand dial, (Just to the right of 80kph, just to the left of 70kph & just to the left of 50kph), so it would appear that the only issue with the DTG dials is the needle not illuminating. The lighting of the dials themselves is indeed correct.

DTG did an extremely sloppy job of this. It didn’t look good or more importantly, useful, at all. They simply slapped a wonky looking circle on top of it.

I may adjust my mod to include the LED spot lighting.

Oh i agree it wasn't as good as it could have been. My point was that the dial lighting is indeed from individual LEDs around the edges of the dials in roughly the positions DTG have placed them so therefore doesn't light the whole dial up equally but the edges brighter than the centre.

Is it an illuminous pointer lit by the surrounding lighting irl?
In anycase, yes it was as if that fix was done in anger. Was dull and served no function.
