DTG Natster called me out in a post for bad language. The phrase was “Don’t give a ****”
I can’t remember whether I asterisked it out or whether I used a word but I wouldn’t have used a swear word on the forum. What is the protocol?

Can I use the term with asterisks? Can I use it with an innocent word such as fig or monkeys?

I’ll try to avoid it at all so as not to cause controversy but I would be interested to know.

I would say that you should speak on here like you would to a six year old child or your grandmother. Absolutely no need to use profanity in other words.
I'm sure you're more than capable of making your point without using even allusions to such language (ie saying "I really don't care" in the stated example)

Or as i did growing up in a crazy religious nut household, be very rude without saying anything rude at all, its a skill that when you learn it language becomes a very fun game to play with in conversations with everyone you meet in life......... :D :D :D :D

You definitely can’t use asterisks as that’s basically the same as just typing the word and is also what people do to avoid automatic filters. When talking about trains and sims there’s really no need for swearing, even if you are having a bit of a grumble about something.

There's some profanity and quite a lot of inappropriate and tasteless comment on the forum that seems to go unnoticed by the moderators. If it's really egregious, I think it's up to the rest of us to call someone out and sometimes we do.. Can't expect the moderators to read everything. However, this forum is almost pristine compared to many others I've seen.

Comparing this forum to GTAForums is like comparing an Iranian prison to the St Pancras Hotel.

If you bothered to have read the rules for the forums you would understand why you were called out. You are not allowed to use any foul language whether it is hidden by asterisks or not. Please follow the rules everyone is allowed their opinions but they must be kept civil and polite.

But I didn’t use any bad language. Theoretically, the asterisks could mean anything e.g. toss, monkeys, fig although I agree that the asterisks suggest something rude. As I said, I can’t remember whether the asterisks were mine or the system censoring it but I certainly wouldn’t have used a swear word. In any case, I’ll avoid this in the future.

Thanks, I appreciate the replies but I would also like some official feedback from DTG as to what is acceptable e.g. if I use a “clean” word, would the phrase be acceptable?

I’d suggest the forum rules may be a place to start.

Wait, we can’t swear on this forum?! That completely ruins the immersion for me. How are we suppose to emulate the sophisticated and eloquent language of a proper driver?

You’re booked spare but a driver has gone sick so you’ve been called in to cover his turn? Let every driver you see know how he is a lazy, skiving, <insert choice of words here>
Guard doesn’t come with a cup of tea for you? Ensure you have a good moan about him in the messroom with some colourful language.
The signaller puts a freight train ahead of you? Call him every swear word under the sun.

So, you see, a driver has many words up his sleeve for such an occasion.

Drivers of class 321’s have to be really careful because there is no soundproofing between the can and saloon space- could clearly hear the aws and dsd going off while sitting near the cab
