Here I have a route suggestion. My suggestion is the Woodhead Electric line from Sheffield Victoria to Manchester Piccadilly (London Road), via Penistone and the Woodhead tunnel. I believe this route should be developed as it had many uses it was used for both Passenger and Freight operations, giving diversity of traffic. The routes overhead power supply was almost unique for the time, and the 1500V DC system was very rare within the UK, and now only survives on the Tyne and Wear Metro. The Class 76 and Class 77 of electric locomotive, that were used on the Woodhead Line, were built on the design of a prototype designed by Sir Nigel Gresley this gives the locomotives a air of the golden age of British trains without actually being built during that time. Moreover, the Woodhead line starts and ends in the hustle and bustle of two large towns, but goes through the peak district too see the rolling hill of the heart of industry. This gives varied scenery and views while moving along the line, as you can drive along in a class 506 EMU. As the Woodhead line operated for a very long time the route could be set in the late 1950s, or early 1960s this will cover a point in time not currently covered by Train Sim World . I hope this will route will be thought about, and I hope that people will like it. Class 77 Class 76 Sheffield Victoria Station
Certainly, as they already have the research for it. Although DTG won't develop routes solely because they're in TS already, it does help that they have information already when the demand is high enough and they are considering the route (and i do think there is demand for the woodhead route).
Tip for the future. The title of your thread should be the route you are suggesting. That makes it easier to find in a search. I would love this to come to TSW. The time period you suggest would give a new experience to players too, so I ‘d like to see that.
I would love to see this, the original Woodhead route for TS1 is a favourite of mine, it is very atmospheric, it is a shame the original version didn't include the line to Glossop. I can image that it would look very good in TSW. It would also be suitable for some future steam engine DLC.
The Woodhead Line and check sister game train simulator 21 forms on how to operate class 77/76 due to weak field setting
If you want me to tell you what I mean is that Class 76/77 when you accelerate using the throttle it doesn't reach the maximum speed therefore you must use series and parallel fields to reach maximum speed. There is a Sister game train simulator 21 forum discussion about that
If the route was set a few years before closure it would provide a nice experience with rundown BR blue
The link that I sent was from Train Sim 21 on how to operate class 76 & 77 electric locomotives. Because those operate differently from the electric locomotives we have here in train simulator world 2 due to the weak and parallel field settings required to drive those locomotives.
I have both routes in TS1 and whilst the blue one is very atmospheric, for me it is far nicer to enjoy the route in it's heyday than as an unloved route just prior to closure.
As we already have Trans Pennine for are BR blue run down route it would be nice to see and older route that wasn't going to be rationalised.
DTG are in the process of developing steam for TSW. It is not against their principles to do so, quite the opposite, they are making sure it will be right when it comes.
Firstly they have never said that. Secondly they are working on making steam happen. If they didn't want to they wouldn't...
I would like to say that I said ‘principles’ as a joke. I’m sorry if I was misunderstood, as I was aware steam would be coming eventually.
