() So in today's stream not much new has been learned what we didn't know already... BUT... (ca time 20:50 in the stream) Sam talks about how the feedback on the cut Branches will keep coming and should keep coming. So why don't we listen to him? Let's "get the level of attention to make changes" This might be a hopeless attempt, but if we really care about things getting done (especially angry German railfans), let's try and fight for it. It has been mentioned times again, that forums are too small of a customer base. So let's spread the word out - DTG Facebook, Twitter, TSW Discord (ok, those probably know well by now), streams, etc. (Of course be civil, no insults needed, that doesn't help!) If we want the best route in TSW2, it's time to get heard. It's an estimate of 2-3 months of work on the route according to Sam, so it has to be worth it even for them. Get more people to care about the cause and possibly the "bean counters" (was that the correct expression) will notice. Something like LEGO 501st Battle Pack... or Snyder Cut (hopefully better though ). And yeah, many people might say this is stupid (can't completely disagree), but hey, not like there's much more left to cut from the route, right?
Absolutely. There is nothing wrong with a peaceful protest. If DTG sees the enormity of the feedback wanting the extra branch lines in Dresden, they might change tack. There is no harm in trying anyway. If it ultimately doesn’t work for Dresden, we can make it known we want more from the DLC we are buying.
You know how you can hurt the bean counters, (executives) voting with our wallets. I don't blame you for doing this but this is a lost cause imo. DTG aren't gonna change their minds hence why I wont buy BRD. I may get the season ticket but will uninstall BRD if I decide to get the season ticket. I'm interesting to see how nec and BML are like though
Oh don't get me wrong, I am still voting with my wallet, but (sounds backwards) I would like to give them my money... if they deliver. So why not try this as well.
Voting with your wallet is impossible when a single route is $30 and the pack of 3 is $40 - if you even think you may be interested in 2 of the routes, you are throwing money away by buying them individually rather than buying the pack, saving money and getting the 3rd route at no additional cost. This means 'voting with your wallet' means boycotting all 3 routes, which is really not ideal.
I made a poll/thread where I'm trying to prove people will vote with their wallets by paying more if the branches are included. I truly wouldn't mind paying a tenner for the added developement time.
I had already made a thread on the Steam TSW discussion: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1282590/discussions/0/3055114073632567397/
I agree it's not ideal (here marketing worked pretty well, I guess). I would like to try the other routes, but yeah, to stand by my point I will probably ignore all three. I have a ton of unfinished journeys anyway Yeah, with both branches... go for it, DTG, ask for another 5-10 euros. 15-20 if you also add Friedrichstadt and the parallel section through Cotta (very frequently used by freight trains)
Such a pack, perhaps even with a 146.0 or some other loco thrown in, could be a good tryout for extensions. Most people will probably still own the route, and I can't think of any branches more in demand than those on BRD.
We all know deep down that DTG have NO intention EVER to extend existing routes. Having lived in Germany as a child I feel especially insulted when we get desiccated bits of routes like Duisburg-Bochum, Matt Peddlesdon’s fave route, because it’s indefensible, and I feel the Lack of knowledge or interest in German routes at DTG feeds this sort of attitude. Hear them laugh when they butcher the names - ha ha! Since Dmitri left the quality of streams and output has fallen dramatically, although I think Sam has the right idea he is merely defending the incapable I won’t touch the Dresden route until it appears as advertised. I mean, WE didn’t demand the branches, did we?
But we do have them compatible and get DLCs for them... and sometimes something gets fixed or improved.
I’d rather have them with some bugs, rather than not have them at all. Besides, Adam and his team are adding new features to the preserved collection, so we’re effectively getting benefits (for free) that those original routes never had. But this thread is supposed to be about the Dresden branches, so we should probably get back on topic.
Snow on trees, and branches is lovely to look at, but we have to deal with wheel slip. Excited to see DTG keep the branches and give us a spectacular, long route!
I’d rather have the 104-kilometer route than the 65-mile route, please! (Yes, it feels more exciting traveling at 225 km/h rather than 140 mph.)
Hey, Bean Counters! According to the polls, 95 % of people would like BRD to be postponed to get the full experience, 94 % wouldn't mind losing another German route the get complete BRD and quite a bunch would consider paying more to get the complete route. (It's "just" the forums, I know, but a serious majority of forums... and I would bet other platforms would also prefer the original BRD) Take the chance and deliver the full experience, the original BRD. A big complete route offers a lot more for players than generic routes we have. Seems like people would take a smaller number of complete route networks rather than a bunch of A-Bs.
I think it went from another community attempt to get change (in a serious fashion) to another community attempt to get change (in a light-hearted fashion) Looking on the bright-side is the best way to go about things!
Rangierbanhof Dresden Fredrichstadt does make sense because there's the Blue DB BR363 standard with Riesa-Dresden that can be used here. Since Friedrichstadt acts as Riesa-Dresden equivalent to Cumberland Yard
DTG: Here, have Riesa to Dresden! Coming as part of Rush Hour! Players: Does it have the branches? DTG: About that...
Totally agree until the bean counters say “We’re down this year, we’re going to have to get rid of some of our higher paid artists or we’re to have to cost out route development and shrink the time” Then we’d just end up with more half baked cakes I’d imagine and no branches. They should put a bean counter and their excel spreadsheet, copy of Sage and their I love small routes mug on the streams. See how well they face the music with their AAT qualification. It’s amazing how in every business the ones that cause negative customer change stay sat hidden away and the passionate fall guys take the brunt.
