    History and common sense.

The only time TSW didn't get a three route release with the yearly update was TSW2020 and Peninsular Corridor.

I have gone back to that post and added those images as attachments, so hopefully you can see those images now.

Hard to say what it could be, but if I had to wager a guess the first image has overhead wires, so it might be the German route while the second picture with more greenery might be the U.S. route?

What I find more unusual is all the stuff surrounding the frame. Is this some sort of hint that TSW is getting a dedicated photo mode? Or is that just done in post-editing?

I see both third rail and overhead in the image with the rocks (they might be the same screenshot?)

I’m waiting to see what mediocre feature is badged as mastering the machine ( and then dropped on the next route)

So I went ahead and put the two images in roughly the positions they should be and created this.
    Whats in the centre..PNG
So it's clearly what's in the middle that's missing. What that thing is, I guess we will find out tomorrow... hopefully.

Maybe what is missing from the photo above is the BR420 that Maik has been working on, that must be ready by now... only i guess he's under a NDA to tell us we have to wait for TSW3 before he can release it?

So the line is a remastered version of Hauptstrecke München – Augsburg ???

When May 2021 was the announcement of "Rush Hour" and "Spirit of Steam" information about the contents of these packages became known much later.

According to information from Epic Game, a possible release date for TSW3 has been announced in 2023.

Accordingly, the announced routes are likely to be released before the release date of TSW3.

The environment looks southern and the track looks like it might have a dual gauge... so... could it be a Spanish route? ;) But I'm probably wrong and they've just tricked us with all the "flying to the destination" posts...

I love trying to crack teasers like these, more please

It would seem a bit weird for DTG to do a new country after dismissing that possibility as highly unlikely so many times on stream...
At a stretch it might be an Austrian route, where to my (limited) knowledge they have a lot in common with German railways?

    Ooooh interesting.

    A few observations.
    • Concrete sleepers, together with the OLE means it's relatively modern (or used often enough to be upgraded) track.
    • Superelevation is present, perhaps ruling out some older UK routes.
    • OHLE height seems more EU to me, aren't the wires usually slightly higher up in the US or is it just a stereotype I invented out of thin air?
    • Don't think it's high speed track, isn't that usually painted white to aid thermal expansion or is just an italian thing? Also it just doesn't look like a HSL.
    • 150 200 F35 (or F3.5) what does that mean?

  21. Looks like a top contact third rail to me non covered which rules out the US and most of Europe?

Those are just camera settings, it's implied that this is a photo.

stuff relating to a camera taking the photo... F3.5 is the aperture setting, ISO 200 is the film speed (used on digital cameras as a way to increase or decrease sensitivity)

So i guess it's showing off the new photo taking feature in TSW3?

I'm not knowledgeable in these things, but could they be camera settings. Maybe this is a hint of the inclusion of a more detailed picture mode in TSW3.

LOL 3 people saying the same thing at the same time :)

Thanks. Yes now that I think about it I think I recall something along those lines. Maybe just filler to make the image cooler or a hint to a better camera system.

It is due to the very dry conditions we have had over the last few weeks.

Due to many parts of the UK not having seen rain in months a ban is in place to prevent steam engines being allowed out onto the main line (and even some preserved lines). This is due to the increased risk of lineside fires posed by steam engines, as the vegetation is incredibly dry and parched. However as discussed above, things seem a bit patchy at the moment.

Point is (and going back to the original post that brought it up), it's highly unlikely that either of the two currently operational Jubilees would be steamed just for DTG to gawk at it for a bit. And besides, "breathtaking scenery" is hardly the first term I'd use to describe Carnforth Motive Power Depot! Although It would be amazing to visit no doubt. And obviously no flight would be needed to get there, unless Sam was driving the Pendolino up from London and tried to get it to take off like the TGV.

I believe that's an advanced deception tactic called "lying".

On the topic of the photos, it doesn't look like it's British, so the sinking feeling that no new British route is coming for the foreseeable future has only gotten stronger for me. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be another modern German route that I can't tell apart from the bajillion previous ones. The roadmap implies one is coming anyway, but I'd be disappointed if it was used as the first look at "the future of TSW". I wouldn't say no to a new ICE route though, especially if we could really let it loose. I'd prefer to see Acela though personally.

With all the gripe about TSW not having more countries, I am wondering if this is Austria and if we will get a OBB service crossing into Germany perhaps. So Munich - Salzburg maybe.

I think TSW3, if that’s what this is, will include this new route that we are speculating and the German and American route a long side it. They just finished doing a ton of work getting steam into the game which was for a British route so I’m not surprised they are leaving it for a bit.

This simple sentence epitomises the TSW forums.
The rational majority may just "SMH" and not reply, some will, and then there are the perma-triggered, ready for any announcement with vitriolic anti-DTG slander.

Just read your stupid statement tsw2.

That is the dumbest statement I have ever read on these forums, and that is saying something ffs.

You may have the wrong end of a stick. Nobody else has mentioned Epic announcing anything, certainly not an ambiguous ‘possible’ release date. Every day is a possible release date. There was a fake TSW3 page on a dodgy resellers page that had 2023 on it but that’s all that was, a fake entry.

The lighting and ballast in those chopped screenshots remind me of Riesa - Dresden a bit, maybe the new German route?

New countries require lots of new assets, so as far as the truthfulness of those statements goes, it seems fairly legitimate to me.
Then again this whole thing could be a complete mislead and instead we're just getting another TSW2 route bundle like Rush Hour...

Don't get your hopes up. It's a looped 24hr stream and the only thing worth listening to is what I would suggest sounds like an unshown high speed train passing.

    Enjoy your screensaver.

Could the time not just be an overlay. Imagine having a youtube video up for 24hrs with everyone looking for clues.
No such thing would ever happen :D

I am almost sure it’s something like the Arlbergbahn in Austria. The catenary fits, the HUGE mountain that really looks awesome fits, and also the scenery in gerneral! Another thing is, that I googled the Austrian catenary and they look exactly like that on mountainous routes. And the train sound like two Vectrons or a three car passenger EMU- of which Austria also has a ton…
