I am almost certain that it is a feature not a bug, otherwise it would've been posted as a bug already. (Or I have overlooked it) This is for German trains. And I don't mean the track speed limit in the upper right corner of the HUD. I mean the hud speedometer indicator. Almost all speedlimits will be shown hundreds of meters after I pass the actual speedlimit sign that I see on the track. But to my knowledge it is the Loco that counts. So as soon as the Loco passes, the whatever given speedlimit counts...!? So why are these offset? Or are they indeed just inaccurately programmed/bugged? Oh and also I figured that on freight trains the AFB is not working as well. Why?
Dziękuję! (Thanks) So the tutorial of one from DTG is kinda incomplete. He said the Loco counts for PZB as the trigger. He never mentioned that for the speed the whole train must pass. Thanks for clarifying. How about the AFB? Do I miss something or is AFB not working on freight trains? (I think its the 185 Loco)
For higher speed, the train's rear end For speed restriction, the train's head end The Bakerloo - the train's head end in both cases **
Understand. That makes sense. If I may bother you more about my second question: How about the AFB? Do I miss something or is AFB not working on freight trains? (I think its the 185 Loco) (my edit above was slower than your reply) Thanks again already in advance
The Bakerloo one has two versions, both accurate, For the underground yeah it's the head of the train for both upper and lower speeds but once it's on National Rail of Queens Park it adheres to National rail rules apply so its higher speed limit once the rear of the train passes.
Well I turn on the AFB switch. Have PZB on (LZB is not available of course...or at least not for me). Then no matter what I do, the HUD is not showing the AFB setting (pushing the lever up) and all that happens is that the train does not start (when setting AFB speed while standing still) or is slowing down (when setting it up while driving) because then the power lever is not working...no matter what I set. Also doesn't matter in which order I set anything. Simply doesn't work. In the ICE it works perfect. But in the 185 as freight train not. I have not yet tried to drive a 185 as passenger train tho. I know my english is not good. If I haven't made it clear I might make a short clip and upload it to Youtube showing it what I mean. Haha...now you got me. My Grandma was polish. I myself basically don't speak polish
Before you can turn AFB on, the reverser has to be in a position other than OFF. You need to hear an audible confirmation of AFB activation (AFB, AFB). Then set the speed. To start generating tractive effort (I guess it's a bug) you need to move the throttle to about ~ 50%, then the BC pressure will start to drop and the train will start moving. With a longer freight train, it will take a while for the wagons to be unbraked. With PZB & LZB enabled, you will not see a red marker on the HUD, only a blue LZB marker (if you are in the LZB zone. // https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/ask-a-german-loco-driver.60928/ That could be helpful. My English is bad too, don't worry.
As has already been said, the behaviour in relation to speed limits is the same for all trains/routes except the underground portion of Bakerloo, not just German ones. The easy way to think of it is that the speed limits apply to a section of track. When you pass a speed limit board and the limit is increasing, the rear end of the train is still in the "slow" section, and since the front of the train can't go faster than the rear, you still need to abide by the "slow" limit. Imagine a long freight train going through really windy hills, then hitting a flat straight section. Whilst the locos may be on the straight and could go quite fast safely, the end of the train is still in the slow twisty corners and could derail.
