Caledonian Sleeper for TSW Potential Routes for the Caledonian Sleeper: Fort William to Glasgow Queen Street Aberdeen to Dundee Glasgow Central to Carlisle Inverness to Perth Edinburgh Waverly to Carlisle London Euston to Crewe Crewe to Preston Trains: Class 67 (fort William, Aberdeen, Inverness) Class 73 (fort William, Aberdeen, Inverness) Class 92 (Glasgow, Edinburgh Aberdeen, London) Class 90 (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, London) I think TSW needs a sleeper route and this would be perfect. This (aside from the night Riveara) is the most well known sleeper service in the UK being one out of two of the only sleeper services. Operated by Servo, the Caledonian Sleeper uses a variety of trains from the Highlands, to the lowlands, to then England's. (pun intended ). They concist of MK 5 sleeper coaches and MK 2 seated coaches with sliding powered doors. There is also a train managers office near the front of the train that has door control switches and cameras. The Caledonian sleeper is a well known train and costs alot to go on meaning you also have to book quite far in advance. Having it in TSW allows players to go on it/drive it for a lot less. To conclude, this would be a great train to see in the game. It would bundle in with the aforementioned routes nicely and could layer into a few other routes when they get made. It would provide an interesting bit of rolling stock for WCML and other routes. Let me know your thoughts below and thanks for reading. See below for an in depth look at the possible routes: TSW Aberdeen to Glasgow Queen Street Trains: Class 170 Class 158 Class 43 HST Class 73 Caledonian Sleeper The route roughly takes 2 hours and 25 minutes and just like the GWR route, the trains can reach their maximum speed. It would allow the sleeper to come to the game. It would be great! Lots of scenario opertunities on this route. Stations: Aberdeen Stonehaven Montrose Arbroath Carnoustie Broughty Ferry Dundee Perth Gleneagles Stirling Glasgow Queen Street I feel like this route would be perfect for TSW as it’s such a scenic route and we already have the class 43 HST. It would also bring more DMU's to the game. Sleeper only goes as far as Dundee from Aberdeen. It also goes from Perth to Stirling. Both sleepers are all stops between stations. Glasgow Queen Street - Fort William West Highland Line 2022Today I'm suggesting the West Highland Line Glasgow Queen Street to Fort William set modern day in 2022. Trains: Class 156 (Scotrail) (2022) Class 153 (ScotRail Highland Explorer) (2022) Class 73 (Caledonian Sleeper (Serco)) (2022) Services: Fort William to Glasgow Queen Street (ScotRail) Drive this Class 156 to Fort William from Glasgow Queen Street. Call at stations to Creinlarach, Uncouple from the train and set up you can at the front of the Middle train. Wait for the front train to go and then when the signal is green continue in the West Highland line calling at stations to Fort William. When Arriving at Fort William you need to Board the train, Uncouple it and then end your service and shut down the train. Caledonian Sleeper (Fort William to Glasgow Queen Street) Drive this Class 73 Locomotive in Caledonian Sleeper Livery (Serco) calling at stations to Creinlarach and Stations to Glasgow. This service can operate the other direction as a morning service. Stations: Glasgow Queen Street Dalmuir Dunbarton Central Helensbrugh Upper Garelochhead Arrochar & Tarbet Ardlui Crianlarich Upper Tyndrum Bridge of Orchy Rannoch Corrour Tulloch Roy Bridge Spean Bridge Fort William Class 156 Departs Corrour Scenarios: Super Sprinter - Drive this Class 156 Unit and Operate a service from Fort William calling at Creinlarach and Glasgow Queen Street only. Misty Mountains. Drive this Class 156 from Fort William to Creinlarach during heavy snow fall. Time for Bed. Drive this Class 156 from Glasgow to Fort William stopping at all stations and then put it in at fort William sidings for the night. Sleepy Ahead. Prepare this Class 73 for service and then drive it as far as Glasgow Queen Street on it's Caledonian sleeper service to London Euston. I can see the CS being dlc items for a wcml route; Either a northern or Southern one don't really matter.

Is this the Caledonian sleeper where the passengers climbed into thier beds and went to sleep in Edinburgh only to wake up and still be in Edinburgh! If only dtg could make the full route. How many hours would that take in the jubilee?
Yes please The Aberdeen Sleeper stops at: Aberdeen Stonehaven Montrose Arbroath Carnoustie Dundee before heading towards Edinburgh via Kirkcaldy The Inverness Sleeper stops at: Perth after coming off the Highland Mainline Gleneagles Dunblane Stirling before diverging towards Falkirk Grahamston and Edinburgh A normal HST stopping pattern is: Aberdeen Stonehaven (1tp2h I think) Montrose Arbroath Carnoustie (idk the frequency) Broughty Ferry (idk the frequency) Dundee Perth Gleneagles (1tp2h I think) Stirling Glasgow Queen Street Hope this explains the stopping patterns a bit
I wouldn't mind that, I love Pendos, the worrying thing is the length from Euston to Crewe, it is quite far, I don't think that's possible for TSW yet
If London to Crewe is ever made it is unlikely to get the Caledonian Sleeper. It is very unlikely to ever get made for any route in TSW as it doesn’t really fit with what TSW is all about. Just count the number of services the Caledonian Sleeper has each day and that should sound the alarms. The best that could be hoped for is normal passenger stock and a locomotive that already exists in game representing the services on a route (where it makes sense) as long as there are suitable stopping points on the route. Players could then make their own livery for it (or get one from CC if it’s allowed) but the carriages wouldn’t be sleepers just ordinary passenger stock.
Done! My Caledonian Sleeper Livery by TSW Nathan posted Nov 26, 2022 at 3:14 PM Caledonian Sleeper Coach Livery by TSW Nathan posted Nov 27, 2022 at 11:31 AM But it won't be the same. The whole point of having the train in a route is to have the actual train. Not just the painted on exterior
Totally agree but the only chance CS could come to TSW is as a DLC for either West Highland Line, The Highland Mainline or the Edinburgh-Aberdeen Line via Kirkcaldy, Dundee and Montrose
A Mk2 open coach isn't a viable solution to a Mk2 seating coach or a Mk3 sleeping car, those need to be modelled as sleeper vehicles not loco-hauled coaching stock
Well...what about Fort William to Glasgow? That would only have one train if it wasn't for the sleeper (not counting freight as I don't know the service patterns)
Only freight which goes up the WHL is the Alcans from North Blyth, WHL is the only chance of CS appearing on TSW alongside the 156
Hmm, yes and no, for routes with plenty stops perhaps, but some routes, such as Glasgow-Carlisle s just an hour of green lighting surely? Euston to crewe would be ok because rugby, brum and international and others but it would be a long route.
Similarly, we could have got sleeper services for GWE, but unfortunately they're not very practical from a gameplay perspective as the time taken to model all the appropriate stock for a handful of additional services isn't really worthwhile. For a similar development time, we could instead get something more useful like a Class 700 which has far more gameplay value and reuse potential.
Yes but Carlisle to Glasgow could bundle with Avanti West Coast services on the WCML North. It could also bundle with Glasgow Southwestern Line
WCML North and Glasgow Southwestern won't merge, 2 100+ mile routes joined together, just now it is a big no no but in future there is a possibility of that happening
Yeah, I know but just now it's one or the other I'm afraid until a) 200 mile routes were to be made and b) mergers were a thing
Okay. It is still a route with good scenery. And personally, I'd prefer it to Schnellfahrstrecke Kassel-Würzburg
I have also posted this in Rivets Forums. Jasper likes the idea but things some of them will be too long.
I believe some of these trains/routes also use RETB. A token system between the driver and the signaller also working as a GPS
Excellent Idea and it's 1000 miles for This is actually a TSC route called WCML North Glasgow to Carlisle. WCML over Shap Preston to Carlisle is 90 miles for the Caledonian Sleeper
Class 170 The British Rail Class 170 Turbostar is a British diesel multiple unit (DMU) passenger train built by Adtranz and later Bombardier Transportation at Derby Litchurch Lane Works. Introduced after privatisation, these trains operate regional as well as long-distance services, and to a lesser extent suburban services. A total of 139 units were built, but some were later converted to Class 168 and Class 171 units. These trains are currently in use with West Midlands Trains (formerly London Midland), CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Transport for Wales Rail, ScotRail and Northern Trains.ScotRail is the largest operator of the Class 170, with a fleet which formerly comprised 55 3-car sets but has been reduced to 30 sets. All units are allocated to Edinburgh Haymarket depot. (Credit: Wikipedia) Class 158 The British Rail Class 158 Express Sprinter is a diesel multiple unit (DMU) passenger train. It is a member of the Sprinter series of regional trains, produced as a replacement for British Rail's first generation of DMUs; of the other members, the Class 159 is almost identical to the Class 158, having been converted from Class 158 to Class 159 in two batches to operate express services from London Waterloo to the West of England. The first privatised incarnation of ScotRail inherited a 46-strong fleet which continued in service. Following the introduction of newly built Class 170 Turbostar units on primary express services in 1999, the Class 158 fleet was reduced in number by six, with those remaining cascaded away to secondary routes such as the Far North Line.
