    Glasgow Queen Street -
    Fort William

    West Highland Line 2022
Today I'm suggesting the West Highland Line Glasgow Queen Street to Fort William set modern day in 2022. This route wouldn't just be in 2022. There would be two eras available one set 1980s and one set in 2022. Sadly I don't have a list of trains or services from the 80's right now but I will try and get back and edit this soon with more information.
    Trains
    Class 156 (Scotrail) (2022)
Class 153 (ScotRail Highland Explorer) (2022)
Class 73 (Caledonian Sleeper (Serco)) (2022)
    Class 37 (British Rail) (1980)

    Services
Fort William to Glasgow Queen Street (ScotRail)
Drive this Class 156 to Fort William from Glasgow Queen Street. Call at stations to Creinlarach, Uncouple from the train and set up you can at the front of the Middle train. Wait for the front train to go and then when the signal is green continue in the West Highland line calling at stations to Fort William.
When Arriving at Fort William you need to Board the train, Uncouple it and then end your service and shut down the train.

Caledonian Sleeper (Fort William to Glasgow Queen Street)
Drive this Class 73 Locomotive in Caledonian Sleeper Livery (Serco) calling at stations to Creinlarach and Stations to Glasgow. This service can operate the other direction as a morning service.

    Stations
    1. Glasgow Queen Street
    2. Dalmuir
    3. Dunbarton Central
    4. Helensbrugh Upper
    5. Garelochhead
    6. Arrochar & Tarbet
    7. Ardlui
    8. Crianlarich
    9. Upper Tyndrum
    10. Bridge of Orchy
    11. Rannoch
    12. Corrour
    13. Tulloch
    14. Roy Bridge
    15. Spean Bridge
    16. Fort William
    upload_2022-9-20_7-56-51.png
    Class 156 Departs Corrour

    Scenarios
    • Super Sprinter - Drive this Class 156 Unit and Operate a service from Fort William calling at Creinlarach and Glasgow Queen Street only.
    • Misty Mountains. Drive this Class 156 from Fort William to Creinlarach during heavy snow fall.
    • Time for Bed. Drive this Class 156 from Glasgow to Fort William stopping at all stations and then put it in at fort William sidings for the night.
    • Sleepy Ahead. Prepare this Class 73 for service and then drive it as far as Glasgow Queen Street on it's Caledonian sleeper service to London Euston.
There are some scenarios. If you like what you saw leave a comment or a like and if you want to see more Scottish suggestions from me then please follow me. Thank you for reading and have a nice day!

Good shout again apart from the period. I suspect the majority of players have little to no interest in driving Sprinters at 40 MPH on this scenic and challenging route.

Knock the era back a few decades and I would grab it without a thought but as has already been said here driving sprinters at 40mph with their limited visibility blocking the beautiful scenery outside the cab does not interest me at all.

I’m of the same view as oakleymoss#1362 - any Scottish route at this point. We were a little short changed with the CCL only offering the 314.

As separate point, another vote for present day routes, although I get why people on this route specifically would prefer another time period.

I don’t see why routes can’t come with both modern day trains and some older ones too. It gives people the choice for present day immersion or nostalgic trips down memory lane in the older units.

If you could post some info here about the older periods of time for the route then that would be great OldVern.

I believe that 37s formerly ran the WHL.
    In my old West Highland Line: Fort William - Mallaig suggestion I forwarded two eras;

    Modern - 156 + (Jacobite DLC)
    Transition - 156 + 37

And this could apply anywhere on the line, minus the Jacobite stuff. The transition allows fans of MUs and Locos to have their fun.

Thanks, do you know if there was an older version of the Caledonian Sleeper back then?
    Or any Freight Service?

Most of my information is in books…

The 27’s and to a lesser extent 25’s dominated services until around 1983 when the Class 37’s were gradually phased in, initially steam heat but by the mid 80’s the ETH fitted 37’s were cascaded in. An oddity for a time was the “Ethel” a converted Class 25 to provide train supply for the Mark 3 sleepers and Mark 2 aircon stock on the Euston to Fort William sleeper service before arrival of the 37/4’s.

I have linked this into the Caledonian sleeper routes because it's a great opertunity to get the sleeper on a route. Especially one as scenic as this!

This would be a great thing to be implemented in TSW. Very unique to Scottish Highlands and a very interesting system!
