I discovered TSW3 by chance a day before launch. It's now easily in my top 5 favorite games throughout 30 years of gaming. I put 446 hours into it on the PS4, 208 hours since upgrading to a PS5, and I own all the DLC. On the flip side, encountering services and scenarios that can't be completed due to bugs are some of the most frustrating gaming experiences I've ever had. I don't understand why DTG can't/won't move faster to fix content that is unplayable. I have submitted tickets for each one that I've encountered; none have been fixed yet. I frequently see other players complaining of the same incompletable services/scenarios. The dispatcher improvements that may address only a portion of these issues have now been on 4 consecutive roadmaps. Currently, the cab car for the DB BR182 DLC is undrivable, rendering 50% of that content unplayable. An entire journey mode chapter for the BR423 New Journeys DLC is also unplayable. The time that it's taking DTG to address these issues really doesn't seem fair considering that they are still charging full price for those products, with no mention of these faults at purchase time. It has been my impression since the days of MSTS that train sims are a complex undertaking that may be prone to bugs, so I try my best to be patient with DTG. The title question of this post was asked facetiously. I don't think us players should have to pay more money to fix content that we've already paid for. Even still, the frustration amongst players is palpable. Time is passing, and unplayable content is not being fixed. It does crazily make me wonder if I or others would consider paying some kind of priority bug fixing fee just to have our issues addressed. The bottom line is that players just want to play and complete the game as it was designed. If TSW3 was a terrible game, there wouldn't be so many bug complaints about it. Players complain because they love the game and want it to live up to its full potential as the 10/10 game it could be. DTG, can you please find a way to get bug fixes out to us players faster, especially the ones that render parts of the game unplayable/incompletable? Thank you!
Many of the issues we encounter are due to TSW2 content played under TSW3. It says it's compatible, but it's not 100%. DTG do not seem interested in addressing these issues.
And furthermore, many of the issues in TSW2 are due to being ported from TSW2020—many of which are still unfixed. Cheers
I've only played TSW2 and TSW3, and I can see that some of the issues I encountered while playing TSW3 do not happen when playing the same route under TSW2. Those scenarios that cannot be completed in TSW3 worked fine in TSW2.
I moan a lot about TSW for this very reason. Well, that, and the amount of money I’ve spent on the game to have so much of it not work properly. I fired up SEHS yesterday to see if I was being too harsh with my recent posts. My initial reaction, as always, was maybe. It actually felt good for a bit but within minutes things starting getting annoying. Firstly the lighting, always the bloody lighting. It still totally ruins this game for me. Then I was trying to figure out what the incessant bizarre white flash was across the 395 windscreen when the penny dropped it was the 3rd rail sparking. It just looks so awful and amateurish. Then I had to nip out so saved the game. When I got home to resume it the train doors wouldn’t close so I’d wasted the previous 50 minutes of gameplay. This after saved games are supposed to be mostly fixed. SEHS is also only as good as it is because of the mods available for it, the stock route just isn’t half as nice. This game has got so much damn potential and I honestly don’t think it would take much to fix the big stuff. If only DTG would stop the rollercoaster for 5 minutes and do this it would improve the experience for everyone (them included) going forward.
Is it generally better to play all of my TSW2 content (XSX) in the TSW2 game rather then in the TSW3 game? I'm about to start a new profile from scatch this would be useful info before starting thanks.
They are partly fixed... You still can't reliably chain multiple timetable runs and resume without losing the clock and objective data. Had that on a couple of random routes lately. Harlem which I repurchased yesterday, known for its signalling idiosyncrasies anyway, definitely throws the towel in on resuming with trains ahead of you simply stopping and refusing to move. Nice(ish) route otherwise, but what use is an intensive commuter route if you can't start chaining runs together to get a full shift in?
Yes, I don't understand this either. A logical mind & process would be working away at these problems one by one (maybe multiples at a time if the staff count allows it) until they have been eliminated. I liken it to our town council here who instead of starting at one end of town to fix the streets and sidewalks and sewers working diligently from one side to the other till it is fixed and renewed fully in a steady & logical fashion is instead scrambling all over town like lunatics fixing random things and not seeming to accomplish much of anything while the existing problems compound. Why is this so hard a thing to do and manage? It shouldn't be. With dedicated time, effort, and personnel working it through one at a time it could be steadily improved without much fuss. And I do agree, the complaining here by invested players/fans is out of love for the game and the desire to be able to fully enjoy it as it was intended - without the issues. I commend DTG for all they've done for us even with the bugs. Nothing is perfect and sometimes unexpected things & conflicts happen when adding in new additions. We all understand that. What is frustrating is what appears to be a lack of immediate and dedicated response to it. Though we cannot know what they are actually doing, this is how it seems on the customer's end. Particularly when there's issues that are as old as the first versions that remain unrepaired. I won't name them because most are well known to players and DTG alike. I have stated in another discussion that maybe they should come to a full stop and focus on repairs instead of new content. With every new bug and every day that passes with unfixed bugs I believe this more and more to be what needs doing. Sorry for long post, sometimes I talk too much. The games have problems, but I still love them, just wish fixes would happen more regular.
Not necessarily, at least for now, because a fair number of bugfixes for older routes have been rolled out for TSW3 but not, so far, for TSW2.
As I recall, the only patch for a TSW2 route was the red light issue on BML. There was also a scenario for a loco DLC that I don't own. Is two "a fair number"? Or did I miss any TSW2 route fixes?
Swaths of fixes right after launch? That's not really "bug fixing", that's "we released the game as it was, warts and all, and now we address the things we should have addressed before launch". Same as it happened with BCC, BRO, and now with EDN. What else did they fix since then? There's a fair number of scenarios that cannot be completed due to permanent red signals. There's a fair number of achievements that won't pop after all the work has been done. Anything about those?
If fixes don't mean fixing bugs to you then I can't imagine what you're looking for. All of the Preservation Crew updates for routes got offloaded at the launch of TSW3 but still have yet to be released for TSW2. Cheers
This whole TSW2 situation is a real cluster F. TSW3 really should have been a free upgrade for the base game, not because I care about the cost but because at least that would eliminate TSW2 holdouts and the need for DTG to split their efforts on these now 2 forked releases.
I guess I'm seeing a huge difference between issues they knew about prior to release and issues that were raised by players after the release. Might not be obvious, but both these groups are a strong indication of the DTG attitude: on one hand, they are happy to release software they know to have issues, and they address most of these issues in the weeks post-launch; on the other hand, they are very slowly (if at all) fixing player raised issues.
I am indeed. We were talking about problems when running TSW2 content in TSW3. You pointed to a plethora of bug fixes that were applied to TSW3 on Sept 6th, just 4 days after TSW3 was launched, as proof that DTG are indeed fixing problems with TSW2 content being played in TSW3. And my point is this: those are fixes that should have been in the original TSW3 release. DTG should have delayed the release until those fixes were in. But they promised a pre-order release for Sept 2nd, so they launched TSW3 despite the huge number of known issues. If you lump the fixes you pointed to as being part of the original release, as they should have been, what other TSW2 content problems have been addressed since? Just the red lights on BLM and one BR187 scenario.
TSW2 content wasn't available to play during the pre-release period, only the launch routes. The TSW2 routes and updates released for TSW3 simultaneously. Cheers
