More a curiosity. I've been hitting this game for a while now. I was just curious what driver levels people have gotten up to ? Is it a 99 cap?
My level is 152 with 182 gold medals Level 17 on SKA with 278,641/300,000 Level 25 with BR406 with 223,779/224,000 and I’m not sure on what the cap would be if their is one
No cap that I know of so far - Level - 381 Gold - 555 Silver - 68 Bronze - 11 Still going strong - (727 hours in)
I'm on 110 I think, I've played 430 hours. If you want to get your level up more then Bakerloo line will get you there. I'm pretty sure you get 25,000 points for every service. I've played SEHS the most out of all routes.
Hope this isn’t thread bumping, But I’m wondering where everyone stands with their levels since 2021 mine is; Level: Level 367 (Last time: 152) Gold: 514 (182 Last time) Silver: 9 Bronze: 10 Miles driven: 17,821.46 Miles Walked: 395.55 Best Route: Level 27 on SEHS with 528,421/550,000 Best Loco: Level 40 with BR403 with 365,292/374,000
452 gold medals 181 silver medals 57 bronze medals Miles driven: 21,951.35 Miles walked: 335.21 Best Route: Bakerloo line (Level 113 2,680,042/2,700,000) Best Train: 1972 stock (Level 261 2,576,114/2,584,000) Level 755
Level 255 420 Gold Medals 24 Silver Medals 5 Bronze Medals Miles Driven 11,427.30 Miles Walked 2,151.63 Hours Played 728.2
(Legitimising the necropost by contributing) Level 88 - 55/10/11 Apparently you don't get a medal for flipping the train into orbit, who knew? Casual question, while I know quite a few people don't care about levels or medals, right now they serve a basic purpose of indicating your overall progress in the game. Medals in particular are a decent way of having a "checklist" of routes or services completed. What would you change or add to make the system more meaningful?
Level 1622 with 2388 Gold, 166 Silver, 83 Bronze Most leveled train and route is 1972 Stock with level 138 and London Underground Bakerloo Line with level 87 52246.37 Miles Driven and 1093.35 Miles Walked
I’ve started afresh at each increment, so have levels in TSW2020 and TSW2 on PS4, TSW2 on PS5 and TSW3 on PS5. I don’t have an exact total to give you but it is around 2000, probably a little higher, comprising level ~600 in each of the first three incarnations and currently 195 in TSW3 because most of my play has been in the low scoring Cajon Pass. It’s the first route in a while where I have completed every service and scenario though, and have repeated many services again. No idea on medal totals but lets just say bucket loads of them.
The level is going really well, isn't it? You have done a lot of work. It's true, there's so much to do that you could play every day and never finish.
...the reward system is fine the way it is. Maybe you could introduce a ranking system like in the military. From a certain number of points, you go from being a trainee engine driver to a professional engine driver. I think there is already something similar at DTG's fishing games. But whether it makes sense for train drivers is questionable, at least newcomers in TSW could be more motivated by it. BTW: currently at rank 371 in TSW3, but will land at 0 again when I switch to PS5.
Typically in actual North American railway "train service" you would start out as a Trainee Brakeman, then a Brakeman, than a Trainman, then a Conductor and it would end there unless you wanted to become a Locomotive Engineer in which case there'd be a new range of steps to complete involving that job as it is a separate trade and set of duties / knowledge than Brakeman/Conductors. Probably would also begin as a Trainee Engineman and graduate upwards to a full Engineer. Though how many steps there would be is unknown to me, I would assume only the 2 with extensive probationary and monitored working experience between the them. Oh, I am only level 47. So the next lowest guy to post so far. I don't mind the medals, they do what they should as DTG Protagonist mentioned, but they are not required IMO. For me they indicate where I need to improve so will often re-run a service that ended as a Bronze to try to improve it. Most of my low scores are from speeding due to trying to get screen shots from outside of the train and not paying attention to the HUD. A more true to railway ranking would be kind of cool but not needed IMO. And if was implemented there would be conflicts between North American and British / Euro ranks / terminology anyway so probably best to leave it alone.
I'd like it if they added some form of leaderboard system, I'd hope hackers wouldn't be too much of an issue but otherwise i think it would be nice to strive for the top. Either that or some sort of tick or reward for completing a whole route
I commented on one of ur yt vids ages ago saying about my level, im still tryna catch up, it's the final push now , i wonder if there is anybody out there even higher
Thanks for sharing useful infos about the North American ranking system! I totally agree that a ranking system would increase the motivation level. You could create a simplified variant fed from all three common railway countries and engine drivers who have reached a certain rank can still receive a kind of trophy in a future showroom. Similar to racing drivers who have won a grand prix.
While I've no clue what medals I've got, I do know I'm on level 1820 ish. In answer to Sam's question - so kind of ranking would be nice - or have it combine with mastery where you can unlock new decals for livery editor instead of waiting for a new route - which the majority of decals arent useful anyway
Getting on for level 500 now, won’t be long for that milestone ticked. in reference to Sam’s question I would say maybe a ranking system for everyone who plays TSW, I think it would make it more competitive and make the system have a bigger meaning than a personal “position” it could maybe show the top 10 plus where you stand if not on that list. apart from that make the medals always achievable…. Without a lot of forward reverse to fix it up.
I'd like to see medals that are actually achievable - with scores set for gold medals that it's possible to achieve during the service. I'd also like to see all of the trophies to be achievable - "Complete all of the scenarios" or "Complete X services" should mean exactly what they say, rather than "Complete all of the scenarios... on a new profile because we're ignoring everything you did on TSW2 and transferred over and will continue to ignore it on this profile no matter how many times you repeat it". That kind of experience devalues the whole system and makes me reluctant to even bother trying to get any of those trophies on the DLC I may have previously played on TSW2. "Complete all of the route tasks" - well, yeah, I've completed all the route tasks already, but until I trigger *something* else on the route, I'm not going to get the trophy, so now I have to start a new profile and redo the mindless trudge from one end of the route to the other to collect those ridiculous whatevers that some bright spark planted at the mid-point between two stations? No thanks.
As it stands Level 756 1,006 Gold 59 Silver 20 Bronze 32k Miles driven (if counted correctly, there was an issue back in TSW2 days), 150 Miles on foot. Regarding your question in terms of improvements I'm okay with the current medal system if the needed AP for each medal are set correctly. Could be a bit more difficult to achieve gold but I don't really care about them... instead a little AP system overhaul with the inclusion of active/ inactive safety systems in the way APs are gained or even a comfort measurement based on accel. / decel. rates for extra points would be my kind of thing a bit more...
Here's my level/medals, not overly fussed what medals I get I more enjoy the driving aspect of it all, at least I don't have to deal with any petty messages that TSC would give you if you didn't complete a task correctly or on time lol
im on lvl 529. i have every DLC except for the new scotish route as i think its not well done, but ill probably buy it in a sale
I'd have the game award additional AP points for using the safety systems correctly. To go along with this, add a platinum medal that can only be achieved by driving with the safety systems on. Say you get +2 AP for each time you successfully use a safety system during a run, considering how often they go off during an average run - all those +2's would soon add-up. Livery designer decals being unlocked by route/loco levels would also be a nice, small incentive for levelling up. I don't know if you've seen the TSW tracker by chrisvazquez7 before? PC - Tsw Tracker: Track Your Progress In Tsw | Dovetail Games Forums Something like this would be really great if it was to be incorporated into Dovetail Live. You could access it in-game via the Dovetail Live section, it automatically tracks your overall profile progress. Have a leaderboard where players can compare driver, route or individual loco levels to see who's the most dedicated driver! Compare your profile progress against your peers. Some privacy options could also be added for those who don't want to share this stuff with other players too.
I'm kind of with this too. It could be similar to the forum leader boards or based on Services completed % of services you've completed (calculated against overall amount you currently own ad against number of services dtg released in total) Miles travelled Time in game etc Currently they add no value, unlock nothing, reward nothing so leader board is only logical thing to me. Equally, if I won another decal for hitting level 1000 I wouldn't even look at it (same as mastery ones)
Level 342 But tbh I never gave a damn, I had to look it up yesterday in the evening. What´s so important about this number? I´d consider it if it would ....... say, unlock and widen the restricted camera views, in example. Or open some scenery entries. Or deliver a free DLC of choice... I guess that could be an animation for people to chase for it (or to cheat, alright).
Consider the reward systems we already have: action points medals collectables achievements mastery Personally, I like mastery most. I used to like achievements, but to redo most of them for TSW3 really sucks, so I more or less have given up on them. Collectables are nice as well, but it depends a lot on the creativity of the people who develop them and they do not always make sense. For the longer US freight routes they can be really hard to find,e specially if you are missing one.Searching of of Sherman Hill for one snow fence is not very encouraging. Flipping trains into orbit would be great for an achievement, but my guess is the devs will be in big trouble to create that one and make it work properly. The main problem with all these rewards is that they should be fair and work properly. Neither is the case. So please do not try to add anything new, but make it fair and more enjoyable.
I’ve said before but I think achievements that were included in TSW2 should not have been bumped up to TSW3. This would’ve given DTG a clean slate and allowed them to continue adding 10 new achievements per route rather than the current 3. Matt did bring up the counter-point that new players would be buying older content for the first time and would find that their newly-purchased TSW2020 route for TSW3 would have no achievements. I don’t see why there’s a limit on achievements on consoles, it’s just a really arbitrary choice to limit developers like that…
If TSW achievements transferred to real-life... Wake up "yawn" and walk bleary eyed to the kitchen, open the fridge door to grab some milk... TADAAaaa CONGRATULATIONS you have opened the fridge door for the hundredth time. And???
300 and change currently. But that's after the multiple profile resets forced upon me on PlayStation.
200ish on TSW3 but I only started playing that lately. The same profile I imported from TSW2 when TSW3 launched is now at around 300 in TSW2. It was around 180 when I imported it to TSW3
For me I'd like to see a global/friends leaderboard stat in game to see how I compare with other people and who is the lord almighty of it all.
My Level is about 380, 180 from driving since TSW 2020 and 200 from playing around with ts2.dbg.playerprofile.SetDriverLevel
