I'm a bit surprised about the quality of the display font...

Looks very different compared to this one:

    Hi metr0p0litain,

Thanks for noticing, I've noticed this as well before posting and I was assured that this is what the display looks like unless you get really close, we will have to wait till release to see it better.

The image looks pretty close to the camera to me and it looks naff compared to the dot matrix version. If it's an LOD issue then it should have been fixed before sending it to Steam, but Steam will have the release version already so there's no going back now. I get they might have had issues with dithering on the dots, but even so, using several LODs could have been used to solve that. It's regarded by many as an important feature so it's a shame it won't look its best on release, but fortunately it's something that can be easily and quickly fixed.

True! You have to be very attentive, but you see yourself circulating. Good job, DTG. It was something very expected. Thanks.

Why doesn't the internal display on the train work?

I was hoping that they would work. But hopefully they will by release.

The screenshots are supposed to be from the final or near-final product, so if they're not working now I don't expect them to work at the time of release either.

The Passenger Information System (the thing that controls every passenger electronic/mechanical display in TSW) is, what I assume so, still heavily in development.

We started off with mechanic blinds which display things on NTP, to dot-matrix displays on this upcoming DLC. They will only continue to develop the system and will build on top of what they already have.

So the next thing may be, for example, working displays inside the train. Then on to platform customer information screens, and then functional announcements. But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves at this stage on time.

Not sure if they are but this was posted on their twitter kk.JPG k.JPG
They might be internal boards or lights.

I do not see the interior information panels as important for a virtual passenger. As a driving-oriented simulator, a good simulation is much more relevant for those who act as a driver, and therefore the effect of rain (which seems more like milk falling than water) and how the controls react when the virtual driver manipulates them is more priority. However, each one is very free to assess the effects they want, and DTG must try to satisfy all without sacrificing a good performance, which is the most important.

The dot-matrix display isn't an advancement, it's fundementally the same as the blinds in NTP. It may seem more advanced, but if you understand what's going on under the hood, it's not the impressive feat it seems.

    Basically on NTP:

It’s supposed to be a texture on NTP as they’re blinds. There’s nothing electronic or digital about them. In the latest German DLC, this is where we see the introduction of dot-matrix displays. Depending on the angle, it may not be apparent at first.

Also it may not necessarily be hard to display them, but it’s what’s controlling them aka ‘under the hood’ where most of the work takes place.

It's a piece of software so they are both inherently digital and act in the same manner. In NTP you click a handle and it scrolls through the names, in MSB you'll press a button and it'll change the display. Whether it's handles or buttons, they are both elements the player can interact with and the output will be 1s and 0s.

Same goes for the AI, the code will look up the final destination and select the appropriate texture/model/animation to give the correct destination on the display. It's pretty simple to code.

The other thing to note is that it's not an actual dot matrix, the individual dots are not turned on/off, it's a texture which looks like a dot matrix, exactly like the image I posted above.

Mkdog45 I just had a look at the dostos in RSN and it looks like your suspicions are wrong. It appears that it's just the light.

Unfortunate that the clip demonstrates the sleepers still popping into view at very short range. :( Hope springs eternal that this will eventually be fixed.

Are Hochschule and Südbahnhof vom ROB stations going to be modeled or ever used considering there are no German diesels trains to run on the unelectrified branch line?

Yes, there's also an issue (probably with LODs) causing the shadow of the sign on the right to pop in. Maybe it's because I have keen eye having done QA testing on plenty of TS content, but I notice these little things, and once I notice them once, I will notice them on every instance of that sign along the route. The sign to the left does it too as it's the same asset, so correcting it would be a simple case of fixing that one asset and re-exporting it. These are the things that QA should be picking up on.

Now that I see it, it is quite distracting. It looks to pop in with the sleepers as well so hopefully it can also be remedied with the LOD tweaks in the ini file I have set up.

Go to the Steam page for this DLC and there's a link entitled "View the manual" on the right hand side after scrolling down a bit.

What it is is a small update to NTP:

'The lighting issue in a section of the Standedge tunnel has been fixed.'

We decided not to create patch notes for this in order to avoid a clash with MSB release.

We won't know because yet again there are no patch notes.

Poor excuse in my opinion. It's perfectly possible to release patch notes without compromising marketing for MSB.

You read this thread earlier this month where a patch was released without any notes and the community clearly voiced that they wanted patch notes. Yet again, the community asks for something quite reasonable and they are ignored by DTG. I'm not suprised, it's DTG's modus operandi and has been since day one; The Community Manager has changed but DTG have not.

Exactly, thank you for restating the problem Anthony.

Every other software developer delivers patch/release notes with every single software update, as is standard across the industry. DTG are seemingly insolent with regard to their customers, as well as the industry within which they operate, and have decided that the norms of the industry are not applicable to them.

I think the new CSX physics were released today. I had someone test them for me, since I am not at my pc today, and he said that the physics felt different.
