TSW2 switched to 4.26 with the release of Rush Hour.

That makes sense. I remembered they didn't go directly from 4.1x to 4.26 but wasn't sure about the steps.

    No. It's that simple.

  7. Are the flickering fixes only applied to the overhead wires or are they applied to fences, poles etc?

TSW2 at launch was based on UE 4.23 (an upgrade from TSW2020's 4.19). The Rush Hour update (late summer 2021) upgraded the engine to 4.26.

I have to ask myself why we bother posting questions here for the roadmap streams? I listened attentively to the video yet am still ignorant as to whether the above (or any in this thread) were answered. Are the questions deliberately cherry-picked, and/or were only those asked in the live chat answered? I know they can't get through all questions, but I thought the premise of this thread was to "book early".

Quite a few of the questions from this thread were covered, two of mine were, one about training for safety systems (there won't be any) and one about transferring Game Pass player's profiles (should be fine as all you actually need is the save game installed, no need to actually be able to play TSW3).

I was actually quite amused as my Game Pass question was read out word for word other than I had called TSW3 'obsolete' and JD, quite fairly, skipped that word.

Of course it is cherry picked. If the highest rated question didn't align with marketing (i.e. If xbox audio hasn't been fixed for example) they wouldn't address it. Only bland generic elaboration type questions are ever addressed through these threads.

They specifically covered that in the stream, they said beta testers said it sounded better but they hadn't actually changed anything.

Hopefully this link takes you straight to that part of the stream.

Oh sorry I was using that piece as an example. I really have no faith that that issue will be any better since as you say they didn't do anything and yet many people complained of it throughout TSW3's lifecycle. I barely touched it so it was no affect to me. As for beta testers opinions with this game... I'll just keep quiet on that topic. ;)

Interesting thank you. Looks like it was right at the end when my concentration was flagging!
It sounds positive, but Matt’s attitude speaks volumes “Expect it to be the same as it is”. They obviously don’t know what’s causing it and do not want to invest time in fixing it, which is baffling as I thought they had a dedicated audio engineer now. Fingers crossed then it has magically resolved itself as intimated.

It's ironic that the engine upgrade was free, and now a tiny batch of functionalities that were supposed to be there two games ago... is paid for.

Wondering if in the new UI, there will be an icon or something per route that shows which routes are TSW3/TSW4 with the improved lighting. Install all the routes so I have layers, however gets overwhelming to remember which ones improvise the new lighting/clouds etc.

  17. This might help. Link takes you to a table with all those details included in it.

    "Blue Add-ons
These routes support the new lighting model introduced in TSW 3"

Where is the logic in the above Diagram about Dresden - Riesa? I thought it will get the new OHLE and new Skybox? Why is it marked with green?

If you own it or if you just buy TSW4 with the route together in a bigger pack it should have the new features when you use it with TSW4?

I hope it is a typo, that's why I ask here and hope DTG Alex can clarify it.

I hope they work on the sound of the BR 146. The BR 185.5 on Dresden-Riesa has the same sound as the chte 146, but the one in the spie does not. Fix that please!

DTG Matt already said their is no rework on the locomotives or the sound on this route.

  23. My understanding is only TSW4 routes will have TSW4 features. Thats also indicated in the table. It also fits with DTG statements regarding support terminating for TSW3 and older. See below taken from FAQ. My underlining of relevant sentence.

"What is considered a legacy Train Sim World game?
Legacy Train Sim World games are those that are no longer being updated. This includes…

    • Train Sim World 2020
    • Train Sim World 2
    • Train Sim World 3"
    And
"Will Train Sim World 3 continue to receive updates?
There will be a short window after the release of Train Sim World 4 where Train Sim World 3 will receive updates focused on improvements to tutorials, scenarios and the Trenton – New York timetable. After this time, there will be no further updates."

Will the trains' PIS (mainly 146 and 143) be fixed for TSW 4?

I'll find out -remind me what the issue is there

  28. You might want to update the FAQ and compatibility table to clarify the meaning as its easy to draw the conclusion that no additional upgrades means exactly that. There is an implication that there are upgrades (otherwise why exclude 'additional' upgrades- additional to what?) but the information is confusing to say the least.

  30. Im confused. TSW4s feature set including TSW3's TOD4 lighting and volumetric skies? TSW4's feature set is TSW3's?
Ummm... or is this because its a TSW2 route and its being bought up to TSW3 and TSW4 spec (despite DTG information in the FAQ to the contrary)?
One would have thought "in addition to" might have provided more clarity if so.. EG TSW4s feature set in addition to TSW3's TOD4 lighting and volumetric skies..

I think the 800 really struggles to accelerate to 125mph even with gravity assistance when going downhill

To be fair I think most software companies will 'cherry pick' to make themselves look good but the trick is spotting to what degree they do it. Some companies do not give a toss and will only answer the most bland of questions. I don't think DTG is as bad or as good as some.

One thing I'd like to know was that Matt was asked if there was going to be anything done with GWE (I think it was Matt) and he said nowt would be done to it in TSW3, what about TSW4 I wonder?

We go through the questions and try to answer as many as we can, sometimes summarising multiple similar questions in to one, we will skip something obviously salty, sometimes we need to skip it because we dont have a clear answer - though we would usually try to say that.

Yes, we do cherry pick, but we do try to pick as many as possible and do not shy away from difficult ones.

No plans to make any changes to GWE - though I do want to go in and fix the derailment issues on DLOGW of course, I just haven't got to it yet. GWE's a special case route unfortunately - its set in a very specific time window (Sept 2015) where movement either side of that requires fairly substantial changes to the track and huge changes to the scenery. Plus, the signalling underlying implementation is significantly inferior to what we have now and would need ripping out and replacing. That route has a lot of challenges to overcome for anything remotely substantial as an update.

    Matt.

A little off-topic perhaps; although I really enjoyed watching the recording of the roadmap Q&A and found it very useful, Matt's contribution was spoiled a bit by the very poor lip sync on his feed.
I'm guessing there was something wrong with his routing through the (OBS?) mixer, as his audio could have done with an additional delay of at least half a second to bring it back in sync.
Otherwise it was a very slick presentation and I liked the format.

(I'm a sad old retired TV broadcast engineer and these things probably bother me too much.)

There are two questions that concern me:
    1. Will existing mods work in TSW4 (sound and vegetation and environment improvements)?
    2. Will the route editor provide an opportunity to improve the sound, vegetation and grass, environment objects on existing routes? Or will it be possible to make such improvements mods?

Dtg are working with modders to allow mods to work but there's no guarantee. There is no official mod support and just due to how game development works, mods can stop working.

You can still make mods through the editor but you can't change baked in content so like timetables so if you want a busier timetable, you have to start from scratch. More info in this thread.

Sorry to ask again for trophies/achievements when transferring profile. I have seen you answered on the stream, but I didn‘t really get it.
Team is actually working on unlocking achievements for collectables which can‘t be activated again, get it.
But what about the rest? We have to do them again is stated, but what?
For „complete all scenarios“ do we need to do all again or just one of them to trigger this?
In FAQ you say for „do xy miles with the train“ we have to drive this one - how much? Just one Mile? Or will I need to drive the BR182 another 1820 kilometers?
For „reach level 20“ do we have to do just one new level or do another 20 levels from where we start?
And how sure is it that it will work this time?

Other thing, please, for TSW5 (whenever it will come) think about leaving trophies/achievements for old TSW/2/3/4 content behind and give us more for the actual content. Will be more fun with the new stuff and you won‘t have those problems with transferring and popping achievements.
And be more consistent. There was said in TSW2 era, there won‘t be any new achievements for locos. The moving on to TSW3 we suddenly got trophies on Playstation for BR187 and Class313, which haven’t been available on TSW2. The loco-pack one came again with new achievements, but loco-pack 2 got none of them. On TSW4 we can see at an early entry, there will be achievements for Flying Scotsman but not for Vectron.

I would really like to see this, I miss having a full range of objectives to earn trophies like we got in TSW2 and have no interest in re-earning old ones again and again and again.

Thanks for that especially on GWE. Could I ask if GWE is able to be imported into TSW4 given it's age? I was hoping you were going to say they are plans to do a new GWE from Paddington to Bristol but that is a dream.

It's already been said many times, your legacy content gets ported over to tsw4. Gwe is a legacy route that was upgraded to tsw2 standards and ported to tsw3 without issue. Exception being the old nec route, gp40 and sw1000r switcher for obvious reasons

You weren't switching from TSW2 to TSW3, were you?

Didn't work for me in TSW3, trophy did not pop up in the transferred save. I guess creating other profile and completing all scenarios again would make it trigger, but I ain't gonna do it. Same goes for training modules. So basically 2/3 of all trophies.

You don't have to drive it an inch. Just sit in it. Start a service. That's it.

You need to reach next level.

No, started a new profile on TSW3 because I read of the many problems here.
I‘d like to collect the trophies but don‘t wanna do all the old stuff again and again. Takes too much time that prevents from new experiences

I was hoping that Matt would say there would be a new GWE as he said the existing one would not be updated in TSW3.

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask if I have understood correctly. In an editor, you can attach a BR 182 to an IC car, save it and then build a timetable with it in the scenario editor, for example, or?
