What a dumb take, we aren't devs, we are consumers who want the best that DTG can offer, and it feels like the US gets the short end of the stick of the 3 main releases.
All this is unfortunate as I know Joe put a lot of work into NYT. I think this was first route that would off had a large US passenger and freight which had never been done before. I’m sure is a learning experience. I know some freight routes had to ship out with shorter length for gen 8. Not sure if that would had work on Gen 9 with shorter freight length instead.
I wonder if it would be better to only have the freight services pull from only SPG and HSC, and not the other freight routes?
Whatever happens on Tuesday, I feel like this is going to be a major disappointment. It just depends how bad DTG put on the hurt. Long gone is the euphoria and anticipation of Joe's reports. Not his fault of course, he clearly did a mammoth job. All I can say is that, for those of us with decent PC's: for goodness sake give us the opportunity to experience this route as it was meant to be with a decent timetable. Or just forget the whole darn thing. As an American player I'm tired of drawing the short straw.
Controversial, but in my own personal opinion if they have to ditch a layer, I'd rather them ditch LIRR than the freight. Freight is just more visible throughout a larger portion of where most playable passenger services go than LIRR is. You'll really only see that in NYP and out through Sunnyside (unless I'm incorrect), but seeing freight is just so crucial for my personal gameplay. :/
That is correct, as well you'll see LIRR entering the west side yard when heading west of Penn Station. I believe LIRR is highly requested even though not playable in this route. It would be pretty cool to see the freight motive power and rolling stock along NEC sidings, similar to how there is freight in Amtrak's Boston Sprinter route.
Good afternnon JD. I know is down to the last few ours before full release.Do you have any updates on NYT timetable?
As a quick note RE: Trenton. We have found it is pretty intensive on mid-range PCs/XBS, so please give it a go if you'd like to try it - but there is always the option to revert back to the original if you need it.
For the people they have not enough understanding about the problems that you can get.... It's not you GPU(Graphicscard) but you're RAM is needed! A GPU is always needed but in this case with 4GB ram you get stuck i guess...
Honestly this is what I have been waiting for. I’m so pumped for this and will be playing this nonstop. I can’t wait to see Penn station as it should be
Would have been nice to get the pantographs fixed, but I’m very grateful to Joe & whoever else supported this - time to jump back into the ALP46.
“so AI freight will not be part of the launch build for all players.” There is no AI freight for anyone.
Many thanks to Joethefish and the DTG team. This is much better than I was expecting back in the dark days of February. Pity about the freight layers, especially the playable one, but maybe there's a glimmer of hope for the future. This is my main reason for jumping into TSW4!
As it was for me. I have been waiting for this since before the route was announced. I know Joe put alot of hard work into it. Thank you Joe. If you think about it, Putting all those services (passenger and Freight) into what I could had Imagine was large formations of freght had never been done before. I know the w they will figure out how to optimized it and make it in work the future. Again thank you .
Thank you so much DTG dev team and Joethefish your hard work and testing throughout this process is much appreciated. I can't wait to try out the new timetable. It will be fun seeing all the layers in game and glad to see 2,000 services available. I also look forward to trying out TSW4 tomorrow
I don't really care too much about freight but I'm looking forward to the timetable. My potato laptop will probably struggle lol. Sunnyside yard gives me like 15fps so wondering how much penn station will give me
For anyone after freight on NY Trenton, You will also be able to spawn in Freight train/cars on NY Trenton and run alongside other services on your own journeys, whilst not the same as timetable you could compromise in the meantime by this.
Same time as usual. Early access players only get to play 5 days early but global release is the usual time for everyone depending on time zones
I‘m hoping that when JD said the freight layers will not be avaliable at launch, that there may still be a hope going forward. Fingers are crossed! The remainder of the Timetable sounds incredible, and I can‘t wait to experience the real hustle & bustle of New York!
Some serious work would need to go into it, which there are no plans for at present. Don't want to be Johnny Raincloud, but realistically this will be it for the time being.
i’ve been waiting months for the best excuse possible to splurge on a new gaming PC with a top of the line CPU, RTX 4090, and loads more DDR5 RAM and i think this is finally the excuse i’ve been waiting for. Thank you to everyone that made this possible both here on the forums (voicing your concerns and constructive feedback) and devs behind the scenes (Joe, specifically looking at you ) for making this happen. Cheers!
This has nothing to do with a good GPU.... This is a RAM issue.... Don't run to the shop tomorrow and spend a lot of money for a new GPU instead by for a few dollar new and faster RAM
oh i’m very aware of that but the other components have been holding me back for years anyway. i’m tired of 35-45 fps on medium-high settings. i wanna run this sim on ultra with engine.ini tweaks SO bad. i will probably still wait a bit tho, but super excited nonetheless. I currently have 64 GB of DDR4 ram at 3600 mhz. I hope i don’t see much in terms of a performance hit on my current system with this new timetable :/ Sadly stuck with DDR4 cause of motherboard limitations though
RAM is enough and youre GPU? What do you use ATM? DTG Takes normaly not the highest risks in this game so if you have a 20s series NVDIA or AMD equal i guess no problems.... But for the final answer you should test it!
If a layer had to go, freight is probably the right call. It is disappointing though. At least with free roam we can run our own freight services.
currently running with an RTX 2070. it ain’t bad but could be much much better. stuttering isn’t an issue for me thankfully, it’s just constantly never having 60 fps unless i’m at medium settings or lower and i hate that :/ also i play in 1440p
DTG JD I'm not sure if this was previously confirmed or not, but do we know if static freight in yards will be cut from the timetable as well?
The 60FPS thing is in TSW difficult... The game isn't always capeble to do! So don't expect that. Some routes like KWG is a route with bad fps but there are some routes with some areas only where you have lower fps....
Yeah on 1920x1080 is that a complete other thing.... The most GPUs are far above this screen percentage. And you can not compare this so in FPS therms... It depends on the other quality settings as well... And not the the game settings but more like upscaling etc
I've had stable 60 FPS on my old i7-870 / GTX 1050 Ti combo too. And with 200% scaling, my GPU is actually generating 4K (3840x2160) frames, so resolution is not the point, unless of course you're playing in 4K with 200% which makes your GPU having to calculate 8K frames which is totally over the top.
1920x1080 is another level than play on a 1440p or 4k monitor... I have a 1440p 32inch monitor and I have a 6750XT equal on a RTX3070 and it's perfect to get 60fps on different places but there always places that you're FPS is rolling down and later return to 60FPS that's quite normal but what I understand that you never get lower than 75FPS that's for me totally nonsense and b*llsh*t.... UE is not capable to do that without any lower FPS in some areas... Even if you have a pc like a rocket that impossible. If you compare to like COD where a whole Static map is loaded in one tile you can expect that but not a game like TSW
Believe it or not, I do have stable 75 FPS / 13.33 ms in 4K on my 4070, no matter what my monitor output resolution is.
Yeah if you use the quality like TS classic with blurred edges all over the place and very low antialiasing it's possible but not on a high quality level but have fun with it!
Losing freight hurts. Super bummed as this is my home route but limitations are limitations. Appreciate the hard work by Joe and the team.
You're not well informed it seems. TS Classic offers a much greater range of AA modes by default than TSW. With 200% scaling which makes it 4K internally and TAA it's not blurry at all. But, be happy with low FPS
