I would propose that It's nothing to do with an ego boost, the wind, the stars or any non entity. Are there things that are incorrect still, yes. The premise of my post was, and is, that whilst I fully appreciate there are irks still, that this post has swerved massively into a collection of people just moaning [again]. Yes, we all want to give feedback, and we should, but think about it constructively. I've moaned in the past, god I've moaned, but then I've also tried to be constructive too. Some routes might not get fixed, they might be our favourite route, something we don't want fixed might get fixed, it's luck of the commercial draw. We all [I believe] recognise, want a 100% working piece of software , but, we all play knowing there are some niggles to be teased out still. My.own right or wrong perception is that this post is just another repition of the 40 odd page one. We've seen that feedback is getting and does get through, we know there's no free dlc yet it still gets churned up time and again. I think for all the berating of "we won't get any updates " there's only been about [when I saw yesterday] about ten people recognise and thank for it. That was free for the "I'm not buying anymore tsw but still want my one to.have new features ". And yes, there is a "it should have worked at launch" argument to which I cannot place an opinion against as my issue may be different to others. As for changing my opinion, yes, and I'm comfortable and proud of that as I see and share feedback, good and bad. Surely no one wants to be negative entirely.
The overwhelmingly vast majority of posts in this thread are constructive, and I’d imagine the ones that aren’t are out of pure exasperation that virtually nothing changes, ever. The reason we’re all here is because we get some enjoyment, however small, out of spending some of our free time simulating railways. Until recently this has been the only show in town and we’ve all had no option but to push, cajole and hope that things would get better for years now and other than a few notable exceptions have hit a collective brick wall. The tide is changing in that regard and high time too. Unfortunately this is one of those games where any moments of positivity are generally quickly whipped back into line by some issue or other, often pretty major. The issues are so many across virtually all aspects of the game that even if they are small the cumulative effect drives people mad. Which brings me back to the original point. Up until recently there has been no other option, and if we want to simulate trains this and TSC have been the only opportunity to do so, warts and all. Although I’m sure they have their merits Derail Valley, Trainz, Run8 etc have not turned my head at all. SimRail is different, and has the potential (still potential in my eyes) to change this. I like TSW, and have spent a lot of time and money on it. I’ve spent hours and hours modding in my own cack-handed way too, often learning as I go. But we are 7 years into this franchise now - crappy looking UI’s (the flow of TSW4’s is ok but the images they’ve used are damn awful), broken services / scenarios, lighting that is different but still bad, performance problems, audio problems, lack of pretty standard features (DX12, DLSS, FSR etc), immensely variable quality and on and on and on (we’ve heard it all before) are showing absolutely no sign of even being acknowledged as a problem, never mind being fixed any time soon. I’ve now paid for at least 4 different versions of this game, each of which has come with its own issues. The latest is absolutely riddled with them, and the launch routes are full of basic errors. We’re told they were going to fix them yet the patches we’ve had so far have been full of nothing. For example, ECML still has two fundamental problems over and above all the little ones (one of them borderline game breaking if you play this as an actual sim) and DTG haven’t even acknowledged they are a problem. So, far rather than rant at people for starting yet another thread moaning, we should be asking why this is the constant theme running through these forums? There has been one overwhelmingly positive thread that I can remember and that was for JT’s first route. Oddly enough a quality, detailed and virtually bug-free (within the realms of JT’s control) DLC had positive feedback. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to square that particular circle does it? So many different people of different ages, socio-economic backgrounds, gaming platforms, nationalities and walks of life all coming repeatedly to the same conclusion over a number of years? There is only one common denominator I can see & I’d venture that the players are not actually the problem.
Upvote from me, We are all here because we enjoy the hobby and by and large TSW. But that doesn’t void the need for constructive criticism and consternation at DTG business practices. The screens and details we are seeing about the quality of Maintalbahn are frankly shocking and that’s from official preview material. Lord knows what will be revealed when people actually start playing the route. Any company worth its salt would be looking at those shots and the feedback, deciding this isn’t good enough and pulling the whole thing for a rework. But not DTG, we get the high fives, pink headphones and pushed out regardless to join the ranks of increasing unfinished or bugged DLC. It was not always so. Been doing some bits and pieces on TVL with the Pacer (BPO being a beacon of shining light in all this) and driving through “Ironopolis” at dawn with the sun rising is an elemental experience. DTG need to recapture the innovation and spirit of that period of DLC building, not this current churn out any old LOVE and hope the muggins, sorry valued customers, will just lap it up. No more!
How did we get from the "enjoyable" days of Main-Spessart Bahn, Dresden-Riesa, Tees Valley Line, Köln-Aachen and Northern Trans-Penninnes to the days of buggy, unplayable and not fun DLCs such as NYT, Bremen-Oldenburg, SOS, The already dead Maintalbahn and much more... Like How ?? How old DLC are better than the new ones ??? The only recent "gems" are from 3rd party devs. Niddertalbahn and Blackpool Branches are both incredible... Why ? Because the devs love trains and they take their times. Slow but good... This seriously sadden me to be honest. The DLC I still play now date from TSW2... Edit : Grammar
I just noticed a post of mine earlier in this thread where I mentioned my opinion on this whole ‘I like pink’ nonsense has been moderated as ‘highly insensitive’. For what it’s worth I find that having paid hundreds and hundreds (actually probably thousands) of pounds for TSW software over the years and the passengers still being broken is more likely to be classed as highly insensitive (actually, let’s be honest, nothing is highly insensitive as we’re not 7 years old). I find glossing over / ignoring the glitching passengers in that stream disingenuous, and the fact that my mentioning of this pink obsession being a bit sad and tired warrants moderation, but a fundamental element of the game still being so broken doesn’t attract the merest comment is ridiculous. I can’t help but feel that some priorities are a long way out of whack somewhere.
Got to agree on the TVL looking great (shocker right?). The lineside industry is honestly done really well. The only things missing from the route is the new skybox, and the need for some more grass in a lot of the fields along the side of the track. That's literally all it needs. Considering the age of the route, it is very detailed. Certainly puts some of the newer offerings in perspective.
Can't say it better myself Redbus. Also, the chemistry between Sam, Natalie, Matt, Adam and JD was natural and hopeful and top notch on the streams (c. 2021). Newer players should watch one of the 4-up challenges with Sam in it and play along and you will see what has been left behind.
I got to this thread a bit later and that part was already moderated. So that's what it was? Wooow... didn't expect it to be such a horrible, mean, inconsiderate comment!
This will probably get binned (as, although not identical, it’s almost word for word) but all I said was I don’t get why someone having pink as their favourite colour is such a big deal, to such an extent that they keep banging on and on about it. I said that honestly, no one really cares and that it’s not funny or quirky, it’s just a bit sad to keep harping on about it. I’d hardly describe that as ‘highly insensitive’ but there you go, horses for courses. Wish I’d seen Vern’s post
Nothing is as bad that it can´t get worse. If there was any proof needed, the DTG acquisition by Focus is a vivid example. And what didn´t we have high hopes, but nooooouuuuu ... the flywheel started to spin even faster. Too bad, a real letdown for the hobby.
If I reposted I'd probably get a holiday. However it sums up the priorities at DTG. Funny to relate, just came back from Sainsbury's where Steam Gift Cards are back in stock - yay! (Reckon it must be seasonal). Treated myself to £20 worth thinking I might drop it on Linke Rheinstrecke in the tail end of the sale. But after seeing my post entirely redacted they can stick it, along with Maintalbahn.
Hello everyone, I want to add a few words in response to the mentions through this thread: There have been edited responses in this thread which have been either direct attacks on staff members with hurtful comments or would foster an un-inclusive environment, which we will not tolerate and go against our code of conduct on these forums. I will remind everyone of our Forum Rules, and our Code of Conduct announcements. This is intended to be a safe space, where everyone can feel welcome to join in the discussion around Train Sim World, sharing their feedback, praise or constructive criticisms, favourite screenshots and their thoughts with the wider TSW community. We do not enjoy taking action against comments, we'd rather be building our community larger and encouraging as much conversation as possible, but we will not tolerate users who go against our conduct and by doing so you may find you lose to ability to post, or even access the forums entirely. We do welcome the discussion, and in the meantime, this thread will remain open. However, if this continues in the manner it has been then expect the thread to be locked and further actions taken. Thank you to the vast majority of users who follow our rules and conduct each day
On that note - would someone from the staff be willing to join the discussion and address the lingering topics in recent threads? A lot less needed to happen in the past for some reaction to occur. From the fanbase's POV, the game is in a dire state, yet there seems to be no reaction to the concerns, and issues raised, and recent patch notes are honestly laughable. You say you welcome the discussion, but the current forum situation looks more like the community talking into a wall when it comes to important topics.
The problem is, we just want all the issues we experience to be resolved, and to have routes released in a playable state, is that too much to ask? I agree about the personal attacks thing, it isn't warranted, but people are just at their wits end and losing any and all hope that their issues are resolved, which from our perspective doesn't seem to be a priority, as indicated by this thread and others. I hope this post doesn't come off the wrong way, and apologise if it does, but I hope that from this, you try and understand from our point of view why these threads exist at all; they are the last thing we want on these forums.
A lot of these posts have come up and quite obvious that staff have been avoiding them. We dont want to take our frustration out directly at specific staff. We just want answers. This isnt a big community like Sports game and Call of duty etc. (10s of millions of players). Most of us posting in here all know each other around the forums. We've played these games for years and have directly been ignored in these types of posts.
chieflongshin Don't you think it's coming over as highly patronizing telling people to just get along and accept that the product they have paid for is highly flawed at times? (and imho absolutely not worth the price demanded) I just imagine I'm in a refund queue at the info desk of my local hypermarket, and somebody comes to me telling me that I just should just enjoy the product I've bought despite its flaws. Well you can imagine what would happen. Nothing that's been said in here stops you from enjoying the game. But, knowing DTG's history well, they only act when under pressure, so I fully support the OP. You could argue, don't buy if you don't like, don't buy immediately and wait - but what about the glaring issues that have been introduced by patches AFTER we've bought the DLC? Without the possibility to refund? You buy a car and the lights don't work and then somebody tells you "well it's driving, don't expect everything to work 100%." No. If I see catenary poles right on the tracks of my route that weren't there before, I expect the developer to commit to fixing it asap. I will not change my expectations. I love trains and train sims, but there's nothing much to like about DTG for me. Not replying to reports on their forums? - CMs are busy on other social platforms. Not fixing glaring issues? - Console crashes have priority. I'm sick of excuses and this business model, that's why it's refreshing to see other devs that do it differently. And realizing how much we've been trained by DTG, a company making train sims for more than a decade, to accept the unacceptable.
Pretty much, I just want some Bugfixing and Polish. I really don't think that is an unreasonable thing to ask for. The rear doors on the 377 are still stuck open on Brighton Main Line. The audio on the 380 is still really bad. The rain is still falling through tunnels. Passengers still don't appear on Trenton. The PIS, DSD and Train Numbers on the Azuma are still broken. Still haven't had the promised Midland Mainline Update. Mods are still mostly broken. Still don't have Formation designer, or suspension added to the TSW4 base game trains. The editor still can't official cook packages, has to rely on a hacky community work around. The wipers on the GWE HST still don't work. One of the German cab cars has no rain on it's windscreen. These are just the ones off the top of my head, when are these all getting fixed?
….but look at this PINK VAN ! ! ! Ha ha brilliant etc. That’s the context of my comment regarding this pink nonsense. It’s a colour, the vast majority (almost all?) of us really don’t care about it. We do care about the broken game however. ps The rain on windscreen thing affects loads of units/locos, the 385 being one of them. It’s infuriating and basic and nowhere near good enough. How many damn times has Edinburgh - Glasgow been patched and yet that hasn’t been fixed?!
Well some little funny things about dev in certain route are obviously cool ! Only if the route itself is : good, without bugs,...
Remember, Sam wasn't only vocal pointing out the obvious laughable flaws, but he was also a data guy. He ran the annual feedback survey. Notice how that went away along with him. Seems to suggest that DTG doesn't care a lick of what you think, want, or envision for the future of the franchise. Hence why the random pink object will always be an unfunny deflection of attention away from an obvious flaw seen during a live stream.
The problem I see with the editor too, is that it's involking the ideas of 'let the players sort out the stuff we don't want too'. Like players are taking on making their own timetables for TVL because Dovetail won't bring one in with the Pacer. One of the reasons I fell out of favour with TSC was that you paid £25 for 6 scenarios on a route with the followup comments being 'make your own if you want more'.
If a simple thing like that is against my forums' Code of Conduct I'd be very worried about my future.
Well, to be fair, I'm wondering why people forget the QuickDrives (which are the most complex scenarios to create) that come with each TSC DLC, giving you an endless supply of ever different runs with randomly selected AI stock? There's you timetable
Me too! On a related note, playing BPO yesterday, I was thinking that JT has kinda taken me back to the days of SPG and TVL when routes were lovingly created with the player's enjoyment foremost in the developer's mind. What happened to lead us to the endless succession of one electric go- kart routes with little of the original character and promise of TSW?
I also forgot to mention the fact that these game updates are breaking content that worked before. The 377 doors have been broken on BML since TSW3 and not fixed. I quote, ‘I wasn’t aware of that’. How can you not be aware of that? Glossop certainly, but other routes too now have services that can’t be completed because the objectives disappear. That’s a TSW4 thing. The HST windscreen wiper on GWE no longer works. Rain falls through tunnels where once it didn’t. SEHS is an absolute bug-fest where it used to work pretty flawlessly. These are just off the top of my head. DLC that did work now don’t yet are still being sold at full price and as compatible with TSW4. How is that acceptable?
Whiskey tango foxtrot? Has anyone disparaged someone's race, color, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or gender preference? Not that I've seen.
Despite the issues with SEHS, I still enjoy it. All they need to do is stop it raining or snowing in tunnels, ensure that when it snows there isn't any snow in tunnels, and fix the tunnel between Rochester and Chatham where sunlight is in the middle of the tunnel (when weather is clear), as well as fix that crash on HS1 that I informed them about a few times now. It isn't. None of it is.
Someone moaned about focusing on a random pink van in their Maintalbahn stream instead of the actual route.
I like how your name is "solicitr" calling out what is basically nebulous jargon to quell disquiet, akin to legalese lol.
You forgot the PIS, and the numerous issues with the units / locos. solicitr Totally agree D&I is now the excuse to can anything and everything that a given organisation doesn’t like. A very convenient get out clause.
I heard on a thread somewhere earlier that Brighton's 337 door problem has not been fixed in 9 months. Why does it take this long to close just one door? Is it so heavy? The problem of no passengers on passenger routes is even more serious and I think this is a problem related to the core of the game. Imagine Call of Duty or Battlefield without guns. We need a list of what is planned to be fixed and what has been abandoned. I launch the game excitedly with every update, only to be disappointed that nothing has changed.
Without getting into the rights and wrongs, or the should they shouldn't they aspect, this is a privately owned website and forum where the owners and operators can moderate anything they choose to as they see fit
Rule #1 of the code of conduct: Buy all DLCs you can, leave a positive review on purchasing platforms, make a thread in the forum to thank the development team.
I believe the reason I keep getting given is that it thinks the train should be a longer format that it really is and thus, "isn't a simple fix" -__-
Main Spessart Bahn is up there as one of my favorite german routes. It has it's flaws, but it's still nice and enjoyable when there isn't many issues on that route. Also I do like the dostos even if they have been reused so many times
This has been an issue as far back as tsw2. For some reason when taking the service using freeroam, the gangway door wouldn't close. A workaround would just simply going to the timetable menu and select the service you were going to play. It does hurt my immersion a bit since I'm the type of player that likes to do back and forth services and not finish one service and call it a night unless that service was the last service of the day or I couldn't play it anymore due to it going off world
I don't understand how you pointing out the fact that during a preview stream, when passengers were jumping from the platform, they went on about a pink van (which I didn't understand the obsession about something so pointless either) and you merely pointing that out is somehow insensitive? It's not like you used insensitive language. Are DTG moderators too sensitive to even the most minor critiques?
You're basically saying they can remove posts or ban members for pointing out obvious issues that impact on gameplay. Edit: should clarify I am responding to FredElliott who responded to me above.
There was the one time there was controversy over the Rainbow and Trans containers on Sherman Hill, but thats about it
