I am confused. As I understand it, this thread is designed to help people find threads that are currently topical. Surely, however, if they are topical, they would be fairly close to the top of the forums, and so would be fairly easy to find anyway. And what's with page 74? Also there is now a 104 thread. Matt4081 started it.
The idea is so that when a route after release becomes relevant again (maybe it gets an update, or a loco DLC, whatever) - people can simply carry on the discussion rather than start a new one and lose the old one forever. At least, for newer routes. Just a sarcastic way of saying "if a thread ever dies, but it needs to undie, you can find it here." Added. Thanks.
Agreed i would ask the mods to move this to the Guides section that way it will be accessable and easily findable. General section for this thread is not the place.
I considered sticking it in guides, but it's a master thread for topics in this forum, not a guide. Nobody will go the Guides sub forum to find a thread in the General Discussion forum. What mods should do is pin it here. (It would stop topics having 5 threads over time, and leave discussions with a bit more value.)
but all this thread will do is cluttert up having threads specific for each route is what users will be wanting to find not this. If you are looking for a specific topic you scroll through the forum threads see for example "fife circle" and will click that.

This is a very good idea mate, perhaps something like TSW discussion hot topics index would do the job for the title? Also a pin in this section of the forum would be most useful.
ideal name would be "TSW Route encyclopedia" As it has a full list of current routes and up coming routes.
Perhaps combine both mine and your names to get 'TSW discussion encyclopaedia', seeing as it includes more general threads at the top of the first post.
Not really sure what purpose that would serve. You can already sort threads by answers, views, etc and "watch" your favourite threads.
Used a variation of that one, cheers. Encyclopedia suggests, to me at least, that the thread would have a bit more by way of summaries for routes.
Not everyone is familiar with the forum's functions, the search function can be quite awkward to work with at times and not everyone was around for the old discussions to know which thread to look for. Besides, a pinned page with links that has one/two entries for everything major is easier than having to search every time, no? ETA: I mean, I am doing this for that reason; to make things quicker and easier... I see no problem in it?
It's a really good idea to list route specific or useful information stuff but I can't really see the point of including general conversations into the mix because there are probably hundreds upon hundreds of these threads that will always be classed as important or popular, but not enough for them to be highlighted as being so.. Take the XBox audio or broken achievements for example. They're both ultra-important to those affected by these issues but because they will never be resolved they'll just lay dormant until such a time when they get bumped and become topical again. The same could be said about ongoing save game issues, the addons manager and I dare say a whole host of other themed conversations that could be classed as priority discussion or worthy of permanent recognition, but will invariably just clutter up your itemised listing. I think that due to the sheer volume of these potentially important general threads it would be far easier if a short sticky on how to use the forum tools was added for the benefit of those who are unfamiliar with them. Or better still, why not add a quick overview of these tools at the top of your thread (with a useful and far easier to manage list of keywords) and kill two birds with one stone

Well, I'm back after my month in exile, and straight back into it. I've added pretty much everything that's come up in April that I've spotted, adding the following: I don't know when this was unpinned but idrc, I'll keep doing this, just because I can and it's helpful. For me, at least.
