You have got to be taking the ****!!!! TSW3 isn't even a year old and a new one is coming........ They said on TSW3 announcement that it would fix all the issues TSW2 had nope they were in fact 10 times worse, and now within a year and yet another broken title they release yet another effing version that WE have to PAY for!!! And before anyone says NO ONES FORCING YOU TO BUY IT!! Yes they are as if you want any routes in future you will need this version to have any form of access to them!! DOVETAIL X FOCUS Same company as exactly as before nothing has bloody changed....... IM OUT, I'm now officially done with the entire franchise..... not paying AGAIN for a third time to fix a game I already brought 3 TIMES!!!!!

So nobody is forcing you to buy it then. Stick to the old game and the old routes.

Why? Would you wanna buy a new route? You clearly had enough. You are not in tune with TSW4 as the song said "I just can't get enough" ;)

You can add me to that list as well.
Preordering TSW4 Deluxe in 20 minutes, and can't wait for it to come out.

Keep looking. There are lots of people who aren’t asking for free stuff all the time. Just a minority who kick and stomp their feet whenever they don’t get specifically what they want and it isn’t free.

im quite looking forward aswell, need to perform my critique by seeing if things work first but that should be done on Sep 21 or 22 so if good I’ll cash in on the pre order discount then. (the deluxe is my best option)

Well i guess when tsc literally does the complete opposite and is still successful, I guess that would get some ticked off. But hey, DTG are broke and in desperate need of cash. Or at least, that is what some think anyway

If I'm reading it right, the Deluxe edition is going to sell for £54 and includes three quite long routes (even if the section and era of the ECML isn't everyone's cup of tea) plus the Flying Scotsman. Given the cost of three individual routes together is now £90 at the new retail price of £30 and a loco pack probably £15, that's over £100 if you purchased the items in the normal way.

Just treat it as buying a content bundle and the fact it comes with TSW4 (with better scenario editor and a route editor) is a nice little bonus.

And let's put things in perspective... MSTS when it launched in 2001 (22 years ago) was a then eye watering £50.
N3V still put out a new version of Trainz every two or three years and charge £55 unless you hook into their subscription service.

If all else fails, the malcontents can always wait until Christmas when it will probably be on sale for less than £30.

I'm hyped to finally have the Azuma in game. It's the only reason I still occasionally used TSC.

That £52 isn't even including the 10% loyalty discount if you own TSW3 on steam, and 15% preorder discount on steam.
So can reduce it by another 25%, it's an absolute steal money wise.

I was just about to edit my post to reflect that, so even better value.

I mean again put this in perspective. I paid £25 for Stray which is a lovely game with a bittersweet ending (imagine a grizzled 62 year old shedding a tear over a robot in a computer game) that just leaves you sitting there thinking like no other game does. But you can speed play through it in about 3 hours and the whole thing is very linear, not to mention I had to resort to invincibility mode to get through a couple of sections. So I love Stray to bits but TSW4 offers massive gameplay value by comparison.

Yep, if you even like one of the routes, and one of the trains. It's cheaper than buying the respective content separately for TSW3.
If you like all 5 things like I do? Great value.

Well you will be VERY VERY wrong then, as I am completely stepping away from the entire franchise now, and replying whoever said I want everything for free.... No what I want is a game that is fixed before they release another version of it!!!! You can all be dovetails little sheep and preorder it but I definitely won't be!!

It's not about asking for free stuff it's about a lot of the community just wanting the things they were promised like the bug fixes for example as well the constant promises and statements made by DTG to get things done only for them to essentially lie and put them behind a "new" paywall release and say that it's a brand new game. Take the promised updates for the older TSW2 routes for another example? Where are they? It's been over a year since DTG said they would release shortly after TSW3 was released, then when asked about them to be met with excuse after excuse, other fixes that were there from TSW (or older) that still haven't been dealt with? Where are they... Again just met with excuses. These new things that are getting added are put behind yearly paywalls that should be part of a core update is what people are complaining about as well and it's people like you are causing it by voting with your money and constantly turning a blind eye to the issues at hand.

    Vern,

The point you’re missing is I, at least, have zero interest in any of these routes. To me they all look dull as dishwater frankly. I don’t want to buy them. I might, at some point in the future like to buy A N Other route, or received promised fixes / content for DLC I’ve already purchased. I don’t use any of the other stuff (livery designer, scenario planner and so on) because it’s all very poorly implemented and to be blunt, if I want scenarios I’ll go to TSC where they are much much better.

I don’t wish to be forced to buy this stuff to be able to continue purchasing content going forward.

No one is saying you will preorder it. You did not like the routes you said. But most of us are sure you will buy it eventually as you were already contemplating what would happen if you want a route in the future.

We are just so sad to see you go for now but we are also happy because we know you will be back

I know, i know :) But finally having the right tools to unleash the creativity and quality that the passionate train community has is something insane for me. Sad that they didn't deliver on that promise way back with the original TSW but getting it at all is huge ;)

Indeed. Most of the posts in the Suggestion section for this or that obscure route, can now be directed to the route editor.

Or on on a more practical note, it might give those planning to try the editor ideas for something to do.

I seriously think I’m done with it. I’m gonna sleep on it but right now my mindset is to withdraw all the mods I’ve made for the game from TSC and call it a day. I’ve had one ready to go for Glossop for ages but just can’t be bothered with it anymore.

This is clearly now an annual thing and I want no part of it. I won’t let the door hit me on the arse on the way out either.

So console will truly be the best way to experience to enjoy TSW? Are you really going to give console players that victory? :o

Trouble with that is he won't be able to play the new stuff will he? So that is a statement that simply doesn't wash as an argument. The game should have been updated for free re. each core update and then the customer buys all the routes with us all having the same base game and making our own choices, not having them forced on us. It strikes me as a cash grab. Also DTG are going from multiple rolling stock on routes released with TSW to just one measly unit per route now. All it will do for me is send me back to TSC and make me think what good value for money that is by comparison. Even 80 miles is nothing running an Azuma on it. Big deal. Most routes on TSC are that, even slow routes.

Wow there are people who are not happy? £39.74 gets you 3 routes + 2 loco DLC + Updated Dresden route and a load of new features. What more can you ask for?

My biggest complaint (other than fracturing the playerbase with the PC editor) is that core gameplay improvements are practically nonexistent:

    Volumetric fog
    Improved OHLE appearance
    Suspension improvements (not at launch)
    HUD options

That's....it! All the other stuff is primarily aimed at creator's club, not, you know, the actual experience of driving trains.

Timetable mode is (or maybe was at this point) the core of TSW, and that doesn't seem to have received any meaningful updates.

Personally, i want to drive trains, not build routes and paint wagons.

It’s a great price, effectively £13 a route and that’s before throwing in Flying Scotsman, the reworked Dresden to Riesa and all the other new features.

I will be pre-ordering it on Friday. Whilst I am still a little disappointed with the scope of the ECML route, the Azuma looks like it could be fun for a high speed run and looks very well modelled. I like the look of the features of TSW4, the new scenario planner and the editor could open up a whole lot of new opportunities. I like the look of the US and Austrian/German route too.
