Anyone else suddenly finding it impossible to open the editor. It is crashing every time at 75%. It's a couple of days since I last used it when all was fine. I've ran TSW4 to make sure there isn't a verification problem but that hasn't helped. Checked the Epic Launcher and it doesn't mention any editor updates being required.
DTG Matt anychance this could be looked at. Appears to be version mismatch again. It's now caused though issue where anyone with latest game update can't open editor at all.
So this happened before and it was because the files version mismatched and the editor didn't like this. They resolved it by updating editor. What confuses me is this time with the big update they've not got a update to editor rolled out which surly would have been learnt from before.
I have started up the editor today, everything worked fine, but then I installed the update today which was only for the BR 111 and then the same crash as it was already described above - I was already looking forward for the next steps in the editor and then it just crashes because of a small update...
Has an update gone out to editor cause on discord someone has said there's is working fine and has had an update to do.
Is this happening even with the updated version from the Unreal Games Launcher? (1.0.11, if I'm not mistaken.) I haven't tried it since I updated, and now I'm worried.
Just going to @ Matt and Alex to make sure DTG is seeing this. DTG Alex DTG Matt have you seen this? I know we'd all like to know you're working on it!
So basically, it's a version mismatch so the editor is fine to update but if the game is updated to latest then it'll fail as the versions in editor won't match ones in game. Your best option is to rollback the game update to the previous one using the depot if your on steam. Then manually grab the core pak and place it within editor files, the core pak in game files you'll need to add ignore extention to so editor uses one in its files and not one in game files. It's something I don't think dtg have hang off when it comes to when they need to do a patch for editor and when they don't have to.
Sometimes I forget that working on TSW4 and the editor is what they do for work! Not sure I'd trust myself not to somehow mess up my install trying to revert it. Truth to tell I should probably use the weekend to relax about all of this nonsense. Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Muff released a patch on Discord that should fix the editor crashing, I haven't tried it yet though https://discord.com/channels/373055767642898433/373057621306900491/1228500498173394954
Just to confirm: I have the same issue since updating TSW today (editor crashing on start up). I'm hesitant to apply a patch to the editor but on the other side I guess we'll have to wait until after the weekend to expect a reaction or fix from DTG so I might patch it anyway. DTG Matt , please add checking and patching the editor to the release checklist for future TSW updates, especially if they are rolled out just before the weekend.
Ok guys, yeah i released quick patch on discord but that dont include any informations... if you want file with readme then its possible to download it from my page here: http://www.trainsim.cz/?mod=article&showid=2766 What is the patch doing ? This patch is just changing the maximum version of asset files. DTG released core update for the game and some assets are now marked like version 67 while editor support maximum version 66. This patch change that number so editor support asset version 67, its not changing anything else... its safe to use. Sure you can wait for DTG to update the editor - funny is that they released editor update on thursday and they dont include that version changes.
you sir , are a legend ! moc vám dÄ›kuji za vaÅ¡i tvrdou práci, velmi si toho vážÃm (google translate)
Sorry, but I am very confused how to use the patch, especially what I have to select with the file Directory. I am not an expert at running patches and other custom updateing programs, so I am afraid I will break something else. Thanks for fixing the editor though!
Thanks for posting this, I have by chance installed the editor for the first time tonight, and this was not exactly how I had thought my route building endavour would begin (then again, I didn't think it would go without problems, but this is a tough start :-D ) However, like Trainspotting Norden I can't seem to locate any Win64 folder when ting tswcz's patch (the prompt tells me there is no patch file to update, don't know where to look in the first place really). Thank you for the effort though.
The only thing atm you'll have trouble with is cooking the content, there's an unofficial way of doing it but right now the cook option is missing.
For anyone who cant find the Win64, make sure you are looking at the Editor files and not the TSW game files. So for me, my Editor is installed on my I drive in a folder called TSW4Editor. Yours might be different but from the folder TrainSimWorld4MOD it should be the same. I:\TSW4Editor\TrainSimWorld4MOD\TS2Prototype\Binaries\Win64. SO open the TrainSimWorld4MOD folder. open TS2Prototype. open Binaries and open Win64. That's the folder where you install the patch.
My problem seems to be that I have formations that I have created in the Public Editor that now aren't showing up correctly in game. I think the issue may be to do with timing but so, at the moment, I'm just looking to see if anyone else here thinks the same way. I have had 6 car CL484 units running up and down the GOBLIN line quite happily for the last week or so in Scenarios created by the in-game Scenario Editor. Now, all of a sudden, this particular formation fails to appear in-game if selected for a piece of AI. However, select the same formation for a Player service and it DOES appear in-game??? The problem is NOT with the path at that works correctly with other formations. The problem is NOT with the formation as I can select it for the player service OK in the same scenario. The problem is NOT with Scenario Editor as I can see this same formation working correctly on the same path in scenarios I created a week ago. So is this all about timing? Could it be that I created some parts of this scenario with the game in one sort of state and then finished off that scenario with the game in another state? (There is a good chance here that I created the Player service for this scenario 24 hours ahead of when I created the service that now doesn't work). If this is the case then can I fix it? Will it fix itself when DTG get back in work on Monday? TBH this is all a bit concerning (and I'm sure that you have all discussed this before). The Editor is a key component of the game so I am a bit surprised that it can be left 'unattended' after each set of 'upgrades'?
Thanks for the reply. Yeah first things first there are a lot of things to learn the basics of. I have not found the TrainSimWorld4MOD folder at all, might be because the editor never booted once, so there might be something missing. I will reinstall anyway and/or wait for this to be fixed.
You have TrainSimWorld4MOD for sure if you installed editor because thats the main folder of the editor. Then inside that folder there is TS2Prototype\Binaries\Win64. If you dont know where is your editor located then go to your Epic Launcher, it will help you with location. I can do the patch like i did for unlimited stuff but then many AV programs will block it even if its false alarm. I think DTG will probably release fix on monday or tuesday so you will not need that patch anymore.
Cooking is not available in the public editor at present, at least not without installing a mod. I understand that those who have installed this mod are now finding their cook button has disappeared since TSW4 was updated.
For those of you wondering where their 'Cook' button has gone then have a look at my thread below and read it from post 12 onwards. (Nothing stopping you reading it from post 1 though.......it is a nice thread ). Gameplay - Didn't Think I Would Be Able To Do This. Watch out for the bit about .dll files. (The info on this can be found in the thread below......post 41). Creation Sharing - [editor Mod Download] Tsw 4 This all worked for me and got me my Cook button back. (It won't however solve some of the other issues associated with the recent Editor update. You will need the patch and, possibly, DTG to sort that out after the weekend). Good luck.
Looks like DTG has fixed the editor. I'm now on version 1.0.13. Update in Epic Games Launcher if required.
