Not really sure what to make of this too be honest. I already have two of the routes for TSW (on the PS4 Pro). It would be nice if the GWE route was fully finished with the electrification between Reading and Paddington as well as including the full Heathrow shuttle route and trains as wel as the IET's and is it 387's that replaced the 165's?

Also I expect the Scenario editor would be released for the PC (shame its not released for the Xbox and PS). Hope fully there could be a conversion tool so that PC based Scenarios could be used on the consoles. Still not convinced though.

A new modern, electrified GWE route would be a brand new route and DLC. There's no way they could just upgrade the current one for free.

No news or teasers about West Coast DLC on Twitter. Probably tommorow or this week

Are you gonna solve ghosting problem?
    Are you gonna improve antialiasing?

    If no; don't bother

Yup, they are. Which is why I promise I'll be more careful with my guesses this time and put them in spoilers.

There is technically one teaser image- go to the main website, click on "TSW 2020," and scroll down a bit, there should be this picture there:

In fact, while we're at it, I think I figured the route out already... see the baseless speculation thread for more (un-spoilered, sorry) details.

Peninsula Corridor, San Francisco - San José. Many of CalTrain's platforms look like that.

Still looking forward to figuring out the details on rolling stock and the like, and DTG has surprised us before- this guess could be wrong.

The UI and HUD upgrades are the one thing I am looking forward to seeing. I have been saying the UI has been needing an overhaul since the there were more than 3 routes in the game. I thought they would have overhauled it during the rebranding to TSW so this is long overdue (and appreciated) :D

FANTASTIC news - Thank you Dovetail!!

I'll be on the edge of my seat for the next month - TSW is one of the best train simulators on the market, and is something I've dreamt about since I was a little kid. Any additions / modifications / enhancements are welcome news - especially refreshed scenario and activities content. I also love that TSW 2020 showcases the LIRR (IMO one of TSW's strongest routes), and hope to see some additions / expansion to that route set.

My wishlist for TSW 2020 is...

    - LIRR M3
    - LIRR Port Washington branch or additional track beyond Hicksville
    - Additional scenarios for all routes

My overly-optimistic HOPE for the west coast route is BART. Since Caltrain has already been modeled in TS19, I'd think that TSW would want to branch out (Northeast Corridor notwithstanding). BART seems like a logical choice for TSW, as it has great diversity of landscape (urban, suburban, semi-rural), long stretches between station stops in its suburban territory, but is not overly lengthy (routes are 30-50 miles in length with long highway stretches).

At any rate, I'll be happy with whichever west coast route DTG has chosen!

Another big THANK YOU to you lovely guys and gals - keep up the great work!!

Finally - any thoughts on the BART prediction?

That journey mode ("start on ANY route") sounds a bit like the seamless transition from one route to another (e.g. NEC to LIRR or vice versa) we (or, I...) have been craving so much :)

Based solely off the picture, I agree with your assessment. However, the wishful thinker in me wants to say BART, as numerous BART platforms use the tactile platform edge in this arrangement. I realize that there is no third rail or black boarding squares in the teaser, but I think that would be too obvious a giveaway.

Picture snip below is from the Caltrain platform at Millbrae (source: Google image search, Milo Conway January 2018) - looks strikingly similar to the TSW 2020 teaser, and supports your Caltrain assessment.

    Still hoping for BART!

Why do you insist on stirring up crap and potentially putting the future of the beta team in jeopardy?

I have decided a while ago not to buy anymore TSW addons till the developer tools are released that had an announced release date of December 2018.
If the dev tools are part of of the game that can only be accessed by buying the 2020 version of TSW I, along with a lot of other 3rd party devs would be very disappointed. We are still waiting for proper TS dev tools documentation from a long time ago. It makes route building a real pain as you have to design around the qwerks of how the game engine operates and there is no documentation to say thats how the game engine works.

I think the new base route selection is necessary, but I hope to God that this doesn’t turn into another annually-rebranded game like TS1.

    This is awesome news! :D

"Check your performance during each scenario with the new Action Points system which rewards you for completing objectives and driver accuracy. Then see how you can improve on the new debrief screen, which now shows you how you did against the varying speed limits."
Finally, we can get more feedback on our driving style than just the arrival times. I always wondered whether I braked a little bit too hard here and there...

I dont have an issue with this and it definately looks like there will be an annual refresh (It's been roughly 12mths since the rebranding from CSX:HH to TSW).

If we get a slew of new features and UI upgrades, why exactly is this a bad thing ? It also provides a cheaper upgrade path for people who are missing routes from their collections...

The way I read this is.
    A new US route added
    All current TSW routes upgraded.
Scenario movements happening within service mode.
    More optimised console versions.
    Graphical improvements.
    Better sound? Hopefully.

So, I read the whole page, and now I have some questions, and some speculations:
    First the questions:
•Upgrade for the current routes; Is this meant, that the routes will be longer (for example the Msb up to Würzburg) or how is it meant?
•The new DD Edition will have a current UK route, a current German route and the new US route?
    Now two speculations:
•For the journey mode, maybe when you start on the RSN (for example) and you drive a freight train to the end, you not get to the menu, the game loads and then you come out at MSB, where you are starting in the same freight train and have to drive on the MSB...
•Maybe they will update the routes, that at every station the timetable is hanging (at small stations a paper, at big stations on a monitor)...
Cause at the moment, the plan where the timetable should be, is filled with a paper, saying „under construction for a better railway...
Hope you know what I mean, and sorry for the bad English:|;)

Do you mean the picture on the thumbnail?
When yes, I don’t think it is, but it would have been so cool, to get a hint for a new country in TSW, especially Switzerland...

I think Route Upgrade is better textures, better environmental sound and interface. For consoles, possibly more improvements

I cant seem to read anything in the Article that mentions Route Upgrades. It just bundles different routes together than you would get now if you purchase TSW. And if you dont own some of the routes, you can upgrade your Collection for cheaper.

It will probably include bug fixes for existing routes but i dont believe that they have done any major overhaul to them.
But to be sure we need to wait for the full list of changes coming with this update.

Hopefully, I so want to get the Class 52 off WSR and onto GWR (where the scenario for the 52 meets the mainline). Though again, they would have to make the 52 able to run on the GWR first

    Scenario and timetable
Ie. GWE aggregates scenario playing out within the timetable on service mode.
We’ve started to see this sort of thing on Tees then with the NTP freight pack. With movements only seen previously in scenarios playing out as AI during services.

Maybe someone at DTG noticed that the "wait for passengers to enter"-time is wayyy too long. Usually, my experience, the Talent 2 for example stays no longer than 30 seconds with doors open...

Or is it just me being impatient? ;-)
Maybe this parameter is modable in far future ...

It's unrealistic and should be removed. We should be able to shorten our stops when running late.

Where did this 'Route upgrades' come from? As far as I'm aware, it isn't mentioned anywhere in the article and seems like it just something someone made up on here?

There will be no free route extensions or anything like that. As far as texture visuals go, I doubt any changes will and can be made for existing routes or DLC.

The visual graphical issues such as flickering and shimmering as well as sound upgrades are related to the Unreal Engine, and it will be up to the developers when they feel it is the right time to upgrade. Any changes and updates that are made, these will be part of a core update at some point. Note it will not be included in this upcoming one.

I don't think there will be any changes to the routes (like destination boards or timetables). They did changes on the game engine, but the routes itself probably never were touched.
Also nowhere in there article is a mention of such things as route upgrades/improvements. Flickering on the other hand MIGHT be fixed, if they changed that part of the engine. Don't quote me on that though, this is imply speculation and hoping
