so not long ago I bought TSC from instant gaming. I checked whats in the game however it seems to have only included the routes that I bought in steam. So routes like the wales, US and german route wasnt in the game. Is this normal?

    Not sure what you mean.

You had TS on Steam already and bought a version from InstantGaming then?

Each year's TSC edition came with a different route bundle.

so basically. I thought my train sim classic from instant gaming, which was this one. https://www.instant-gaming.com/en/12836-buy-steam-train-simulator-classic-pc-game-steam/

However I didnt get any of these
    • Bahnstrecke Riesa - Dresden
    • LGV: Marseille - Avignon
    • Mittenwaldbahn: Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Innsbruck
    • Northeast Corridor: Washington DC - Baltimore
    • North Wales Coast Line: Crewe - Holyhead

Which i believe it was meant to be included with the classic game?

Indeed InstantGaming were advertising the routes in that bundle, and you did not receive them. When you entered the key, Steam must have told you "You will not receive an extra copy..." as you already had the contents of that apparently falsely advertised bundle.

You should contact InstantGaming as you've wasted your money for nothing (DTG can't do anything here I guess - IG simply sent you the wrong key, I guess the 2023 version which included Huddersfield, Pegnitztalbahn and LIRR).

Always better to purchase directly from Steam. Safe and refundable.

Now I understand why DTG went back to naming it Train Simulator Classic 2024, to avoid bundle confusion.

according to my mate the routes he got when he redeemed are below so looks like Spikee was correct

    Raton Pass: Trinidad - Raton
    Pegnitzalbahn: Nurnberg - Bayreuth
Long Island Railroad: New York - Hicksville

I don't know. I'm old fashioned and only buy on the Steam Store or directly from trusted developers like Searchlight, DieselWorkshop, JustTrains or ArmstrongPowerhouse, never key resellers (got a RailWorks disc from eBay, but as expected the key had been already activated, so just for the shelf.)

You could contact Steam support - maybe they can decode the key, list the bundle contents, and you can then prove that the bundle was not what was advertised. Then hand that over to Instant Gaming.

A simple email to IG describing the issue would be the first thing to do. Maybe they'll even just send you a new key without asking, just try.

If you own the DLC already you will not get a second copy. You will only unlock what you do not have in that bundle no matter how much you paid for it. Also it may be that the Steam Key you actually purchased was only the base game with no DLC! Buyer beware! If it sounds too good to be true….

While the description suggests it is TSC24, the screenshots suggest it was TSC(1) that you got. If you got routes, were they:
    • West Coast Main Line South
    • Tehachapi
    • Leipzig - Riesa
    Or were they:
    • Pegnitzalbahn
    • Leeds to Manchester
    • Long Island Railroad

In that case then I think you should ask for your money back. You won't lose access to the routes though, so you won't lose out.

If you used PayPal you should be able to force a refund if you believe you wasted your money, although at £3 I don't think you're out of pocket. The silver lining is that the three routes you got are quite good ones.

I'd keep a look out over the next few months at the Humble Bundle website, as there is usually an annual Train Simulator bundle that contains hundreds of pounds worth of content including the game itself. Humble Bundle is a reputable seller and most of the TS and TSW bundles have been official DTG promotions.

The bundles on Humble Bundle come and go, and there is no TS bundle on at the moment. You'll probably find a thread on the forums when a new one starts.

    ah i see.
I got way too many routes i want to get. Currently i am trying to prioritize getting the entire WCML up to glasglow (the instant gaming kinda screwed me on one of them). For trains i really wanted the (also applies to AP's /EPs) Class 91 and MK4, Class 67, Class 68, class 86, HST (all of them), PEPs, MK3 EMUs (319), electrostar EMUs. And goodness not to mention the routes that I need to get to use those trains... and then hope to complete the entire GWR line from london to penzance, and ECML. (Theres also a BML i want to get but itself is already a full route).

If you want WCML you will need to investigate ATS! They have the Missing Link and the whole run in 6 consecutive scenarios. They also have the whole integrated ECML in one sitting.

thats what I needed too. The fact that it also requires the Crewe to Holyhead route makes it more frustrating because TSC comes with it (and because of my mistake i didnt) now i need to make an additional purchase. Not to mention the numerous of add ons and from AP. Everything cost up to an utter fortune that i will need to slowly get. Let alone the rolling stock sides too...

i have done it. But on trainz instead.

But rolling stock can be worked round by swapping what you don't have for what you do using RW/TS Tools or LocoSwap.

i am a very beginner of TSC so i have no idea what are those.
I also want class 67s because of the crewe to holyhead route. pretty sure 67s and currently TfW services goes there. So i want to operate a mk3/mk4 set between the 2 locations too. But unsure should i also priority that- or HST first. At the moment the tactic i have is to buy things 2 things at the same time. Unsure what pair with what though.

They are utilities to help us configure the game as we want. RW Tools; and it's update, TS Tools allow us to edit assets as well as routes and scenarios.
I'd go for the North Wales route and class 67 first; you'll probably have a version of the HST installed anyway so reskins of that could be sorted out.
What Kuju/RSC/DTG rolling stock assets do you have?

Keep in mind that the AP HST packs are being withdrawn. The MTU pack for modern HSTs has been gone for months and the Valenta one will be going soon too, and the VP185 will probably go the same way soon. The HST EPs are going to be replaced with a much more modern pack in the coming months and the screenshots of it look very nice. The original EPs weren't that good so you won't be missing out on much.

There is so much UK DLC I would take my time to build up the collection. If you shop very carefully you may be able to purchase a Steam key which includes the old Welsh coast though I didn’t think it was a key part of the WCML. Sounds like you are very ambitious in acquiring all of this. I would plan to buy these DLCs from Steam individually when they are on sale or if you can pick up the individual Steam key. Acquiring the correct old TS20xx key is probably getting near impossible since there were only a certain qty ever available. You will get there.
As Gary states you do not necessarily need AP rolling stock. You could swap out a 67 with a 66 using Locoswap to very easily replace the rolling stock for each target scenario.

    https://www.dlcompare.com/games/100...st-line-crewe-holyhead-route-add-on-steam-key

I would wait until next sale at Xmas from Steam

    Respectfully

Buy Train Simulator Classic from the Humble Store (humblebundle.com)
Humble Bundle still sell TS Classic (1) if you want to spend the money.

ludwigtails My recommendation would be to make a list of the things you want and slowly make your way through them, and buy trains based on what routes you already have. There isn't much use in getting the Class 91 if you don't have the East Coast Main Line for example. Steam has frequent sales but websites for third party developers rarely do, but AP did have one a few weeks ago and I think JT had one very recently (it might still be active) so keep an eye out.

As a sidenote for the GWML, do not buy the JustTrains GWML or MML from Steam as they cannot be joined together. These routes should be bought from the JustTrains website if you want them to be merged.

Is there anyhow i can check what rolling stock i have currently? Like within a small list?
I will try remember that for when getting the GWML, last time i check i didnt see the full GWML run but i will try and find it.
As for the 91 pack, its because I wanted the mk4s (and i kinda have part of the ECML, KGX to Peterborough) so either 67 or 90 can haul them. Also looking at the MK2s c and d too-

There isn't really a way of creating a list of stock. The quick drive train list is the best option but that doesn't cover everything.

The AP Mark 4s are quite old and support with trains that aren't the 91 is flaky. There are some mods that get the 67 to work with it to an extent but I haven't had much luck with it. I can't remember if the AP Class 90 (which is even older) can run with the Mark 4s but don't assume that it does.

Of course this only applies if you're driving from the DVT. In TS almost anything can pull anything as long as there isn't any special scripting that prevents it.
I meant to write GWML, I'll go and fix it.

screw it, i dont want to download another thingy. So I will just check the list and see what I have (only UK stuff).
801, 43, 365 (all base from ECML KGX to Peterborough), 59, 66, 465, 375 (from chatham routes), dont know where the 377/1 and /3 came from. 450, 444 (Portsmouth direct line), 360, 90 (from GEML to Ipswich and 90 AP packs) also MK3 A and B, 158, 37 (EWS), LMS Jubliee and 4f (from settle and Carlise), 390, 221, 350/1,/2,/3, 377/2 and 378 (from WCML South). And also putting the things that i am not suppose to have, which was the transpennie route, 142, 158, 47, 03, 08. And thats pretty much it at the moment.

read above the earlier post, in a nutshell instant gaming gave me wrong add ons when i bought train sim classic from their site. They gave me the 2023 version instead of the current version.

Works perfectly for me without the AP bit, so the 91 pack would/could be a worthwhile purchase. Add to that he's got ECML-S so there's scope to use it.

It is up to you what you buy from them.
Sometimes people buy an older version because it is a cheaper way of getting the DLC that comes with that years release.

I remember buying it in 2015 or so and it was the first TS DLC that I bought that was so bad I wanted a refund. The sounds were awful, the textures were ugly, and it barely worked. I couldn't get a refund so it remained uninstalled for years before I got the AP pack.

I'm glad you're alright with it but I'd really suggest the OP to not touch the DTG one and immediately jump to the AP version.

Not even kidding their page is literally showing train sim classic. But instead its Train sim classic 2023 (or i dunno a previous version before classic?)

so buy both at the same time?

If we are talking about Class 91 then it is necessary to acquire the DTG Class 91 first before it can be enhanced with the AP version so you would need to acquire both if you want the AP one to be the one you use

Train Sim Classic didn't have a year suffix in 2023 so Train Sim Classic IS the 2023 version and Train Sim Classic 2024 is the 2024 therefore the latest version

Until 2022 Train Simulator had a yearly suffix - from 2023 it last the year and was just Train Simulator Classic - some people buying TSX were getting confused.
From 2024 the game gained a year suffix and we are on Train Simulator Classic 2024.
But the game is still basically the same as when it was released in 2009.

If you were to buy an older version of Train Simulator it would add the routes + trains that came with that year to your game.
It does not give you another version of Train Simulator and you stay on TSC 2024 - or whatever year we are on.
