How does this community manager, have the brass nerve to sit there, and swear at his own customers. this isn’t a good look at all. Rivet, If you had just listened to the community, taken on board their advice, and fixed things up. The community wouldn’t be as hostile as it is now towards you, you dug yourself into this mess.
Jaaaspeeer my good buddy... remember this? I would like to let you know that, whilst you may be right on the base setup of such a route (even though many community made route projects have gone far with that too), such simple things as scenery and timetables are easily improvable... what you were saying is just hilariously disappointing, and a spit right into modders' and other creators' faces. ("spit" part quoted from MrSouthernDriver :P) I am pretty sure you don't understand the effort that goes into making these community-made improvements when not even the developers can properly do something. Let's see how long this post stays up until DTG removes something or the entirity of it.
if you read this post (post No. 23) you can see in the quote-reply that the word "bullshard" is still present.
FROM JASONPFC (DISCORD) incase anyone missed it, I’ll probably get in a lot of trouble for this after the weekend, but bugger it
You can get a boatload of TSC DLC for buttons here... Got myself a solid 7 routes, plus some scenario packs/locos for 22 quid. Same goes for TSW but I don't play TSW on PC anyway so I'm out of this one in that sense.
I basicly just bought the whole Rivet Catalog for under 100 Euros...dependencies for Swiss freeware in TSC. According to Paypal my case is still pending and I´m waiting for my 17 Steam codes. I don´t think saying this is a big deal... they are not swearing at anyone. It´s just a phrase.
doesn’t matter if it’s not directed at anyone, it shouldn’t be language used by someone professional, like a community manager, you would never see Alex or JD say that stuff, would you?
Perhaps Jasper wasn't, but it is a swear word and that is against the rules, whether or not we agree with them. But 100 Euros is a brilliant price for that much content! Well done!
I'm not condoning the use of bad language... But I do feel Jaspers comment is being blown out of proportion in the terms of its context. I think it was meant in a playful and jovial way. I'm not saying it was the right choice of words by any means, but context does matter. But it is a forum and probably doesn't come across in the most professional way as a developer... Just for future reference! What I would say is, I hope with the closure of Rivets forums this may make them more active here. However I do wonder if they are closing their own forums because the amount of terrible reviews that were evident on there as it could effect future sales of their products by having that on their own forums.
Could have been worse I get that and isn't the crime of the century but he's a community manager needs to be more professional if we swear even a harmless one it would get deleted ect
With all due respect, people here do NOT give this sort of consideration for random members on the forum. If I or anyone else used BS in a post we'd get dogpiled on with one or two whole pages of being called a clown over it. And there would be little to no one defending it, and the one or two that did try would also get dogpiled on as well. I think this argument could have its place when talking average users, but not a company representative (which goes just as much for DTG and others as Rivet), they 100% should know better.
With Rivets games forum and store shutting down do you guys think Rivet might be merging with another developer. As ever since WCMl and people saying Rivet helped make it I'm getting worried that Rivet might join DTG in some way which will be a nightmare, especially if they announce this before Christmas than we'll be suffering a nightmare before Christmas.
Sorry about the swearing, it’s a rule on these forums and I need to follow it as everybody else. Don’t understand why people think that was directed to anyone here, definitely not the case! Not heard about that, you‘re talking Class 170 running sounds? And what system are you on? You should have received an email - and if not (& you emailed us), we‘ll get back to you as soon as we can. Not all products are available through our own store, we stopped publishing them through our own store a while back (mainly because we need to buy individual keys due to how UE licensing works).
Rest assured, we‘ll make sure you won‘t suffer from any nightmares. In all seriousness, we‘re not merging with any other developer or going out of business. We are making sure our team can spend their time on what matters most.
Jasper when can we hear about the upcoming fixes and enhancements for Fife circle that’s coming alongside the Leven Extension ??. Leven from what we saw on the screenshots looks great by the way. Looking forward to seeing it all. Especially Leven station.
I have... Paypal is also saying, the transaction is pending and waiting for response from the vender.
Same here, PayPal transaction, got confirmation that it is paid but pending in PayPal. No email received yet.
What a moral mob in here. I have no issues with Jasper's initial response, as two posts had that subliminal message "they are gone, yippeeh". We're all using these words that are not really bad but just another phrase for "nonsense". Jasper is a human being and was being flamed horribly before, as if he were a criminal. You wonder why the forums are not the #1 place for devs anymore?
As an old sailor, I really don't care about salty language. I do however care that the two Rivet products I might have been interested in - Bernina and Fife Circle - don't appear on their store page and thus apparently aren't discounted.
Not surprised by this. I'm surprised DTG hasn't shut these forums down honestly. As for the language no offence taken, but there sure are alot of Captain America's here who seem to still live in the 40's.
It's easy to feign self righteousness on the internet, and DTG community staff are great enablers for them. It's the perfect storm, or should that be flurry seeing as we're dealing with snowflakes after all.
Series X and yep, the class 170. I posted about them in the feedback thread on this forum along with others back in May but basically there's no running sounds when moving unless you're accelerating or braking. If you're going along and go into idle the only sound you hear is the engine idling.
In the meantime, the St Ives branch still has the wrong speed limit in the Up Direction, even after all these years…
Sense of entitlement here is a bit much. 75% off a 2024 product? Do go on. Rivet are shutting down their own store as it clearly doesn’t make them enough money. They’ve prepurchased keys to products, what are now older products, that they now need to shift at an attractive price before the store goes down or else write off. This sale at least gets some money back to cover that cost. It’s just business. Nothing to do with the products themselves. Next thread, please.
Most of it are old TSC routes, that are all very decent... beeing able to pick them up at such a huge discount is great. Just a shame that the transaction is not going ahead and there seems to be problems. I hope they can work it out soon. PS: At such a low discount it´s also wise to pick up West Cornwall Local... it layers on the just trains routes.
It was clear that Jaspers response wasn't aimed at anyone, but considering some of the comments I wouldn't be surprised to see some swearing! Personally I don't see the need for swearing but at least it was in the open, not the often intimated swear words you see on many posts which are far more prominent and offensive and do get aimed at people sometimes. I get that not all Rivet products are as polished as they could be but I have several and enjoy them, although on the same level there are some like WCL with the poor class 150 sounds and the incorrect St. Ive's branch speed limited which I rarely play as they do need an overhaul. They have been a very innovative developer. However you don't actually have to buy from every developer. Just don't buy their products if you think they are too poorly made, rather than wishing they would disappear, which would affect those of us who have bought their products and do get some enjoyment from them. They are still in business so presumably people are buying them!
Yes, but keep in mind that he's in his job here, being a representative for the company, acting on their behalf. That is a difference to any of us regular users, being even costumers of their company. I couldn't behave in this way to costumers in my job either. And this even independent of the fact, that the people they respond to here, are the people that secure their job. The community are the people who pay their loans with the sales of their products indirectly. There have been enough evidence and proof how Rivet's community manager behave to costumers in not a friendly way before, so its not unreasonable to get back to why they behave in this way. Also they don't seem to take care much of the feedback for their products, even vent on their costumers for providing constructive feedback in some cases. Rivet Games themselves seem to have no problem with how they community managers behave to their costumers. I can't remember one time, where one of the Dovetail Games community managers ever closely reacted in this way, doesn't matter how hard the accusations in this Forum were, taken for example JD's response here or Alex' response here recently. They keep cool, don't take it personal and before they say anything, they think about how people could perceive what they're saying, and might change words for it. Only that's professional and how it should be. I wonder how Rivet Games staff would have responded to these messages. Community managers are not developers, though. I can't remember one time, where we actually had the opportunity to meet or talk with an actual Rivet Games developer in here (at least in the time I'm in the Forum). Who are they actually? DTG's Matt, Lukas, Brandon, Liam etc. are in here, Skyhook's Tom has been in here, TSG's Maik has answered questions, but the developers of Rivet are actually kept secret under any defense. It's something different to have the ability to talk to an actual developer, than talking to a community manager, who just acts as the middleman and maybe can't transfer thoughts in each of both directions and can't answer certain things on its own. I hope that with the closure of Rivet's own Forum, they might become prominent in here. Maybe if people would know more about the processes and the restrictions behind the curtains of Rivet Games, people wouldn't be as angry and frustrated about Rivet Games. DTG is a good example for how communication at least should be - even some things indeed remain unanswered - but in general, there is a communication between the developers and the community in this forum, and I'm very thankful for it that Matt and the team do respond from time to time. With the comparison to Rivet, we can see that this is definitely not the case for developers of other companies. This might come out a bit more harsh than intended, but I personally feel there is something extremely wrong with Rivet's communication to the public and their costumers. There might be very good developers in this company, kept secret and hidden from the community, but the communication between costumers and company on the community front, at least at some cases which have proven evidence, beyond all limits. If this changes, the situation between community and Rivet Games might become more healthy and satisfying, and this for both sides of the argument.
RobertSchulz I don't think that's swearing, it's the same as saying "Rubbish". I'd rather communicate with a real person with emotions than listening to corporate empty speak robot talk. If we all are getting overly sensitive, communication will be impossible eventually. We all should take a look in the mirror first. Wouldn't you be offended if people are almost cheering and wanting you to lose your job? I'd answer like Jasper did. He's not needing to bow down to anyone. People are taking this game way too seriously. If you want 100% realism, that's only possible by modders because it doesn't pay commercially. That's the case for TSC, even for ETS2, where ProMods deliver the final touch like Bescot, londonmidland & friends are doing. Don't complain, find solutions. Way to go. You don't like what Rivet are doing, stop buying. But leave it for others to play if they like it. It's no use crying for a WCL "fix", setting up your own expectations (it was never promised, you got what you have paid for), to then rant about being disappointed when there was no appointment at all. When I'm reading "Rivet should not be allowed... " I'm thinking of authoritarian regimes. Instead - why not put pressure on DTG to open a way for consoles to use mods? There is ways. Called mod.io.
Sorry to hear that, could you show us what you mean by that (like with links to the individual posts)? These are quite the accusations, I (and no one else on the team either) would never itentionally behave badly or disrespectful to any community member. Yep - and that's on purpose. Developers get paid for developing, not for chatting with the community. Other companies might have other policies and we don't forbid our developers to chat with folks on the forum, but on the other hand I understand very much why they might prefer not to... Regarding the PayPal issues - we're investigating, please email us at contact@rivet-games.com, we'll try to get back to asap.
Fair tip. From what I see in this useful post + other places it adds wagons and, if you don't have a 37 from another layer, that. For me it would just be the wagons. The WCL route itself is of v. low value to me as I'm aware of all the opinions on it and the 150, and I don't have time to play my collection as it is. Decided it's not worth my money, but if you're looking for the complete Blackpool Branches experience, this is the best opportunity you might get. I picked up Edinburgh-Glasgow as I have Cathcart and I've had a soft spot for the visuals and the idea of the DLC since I joined the game in TSW3-era, however never purchased owing to the negative consensus on it. I'm going in with low expectations, though I'll probably get Skyhook's 158 when it goes on sale at some point to get the better timetable.
Island line is required for the 484 for GWE remaster, don't own it? Won't see it. Just seen this on the GWE remaster and appreciation thread. Didn't know, though did get it yesterday in Rivets sale.
If Rivet are having a sale this I'm my favourite of what they have to offer: Suburban Glasgow It is probably best in the long run to have one feedback forum rather than the two; I've seen situations where Rivet representatives have been unaware of issues discussed here on the DTG forums, and I do hope that there will be some improvement in the maintenance of add-ons. The Fife Circle is an ambitious add-on but sadly not particularly playable with the signalling issues, and even though I know it's just a game I do get affected by people jumping off the platform and bridges into the path of my train; I am formerly a road passenger service driver in real life which I had to give up due to deteriorating health which would have made me unsafe had I not gotten rid of my license and job when I did. Having nightmares about loosing control of the bus affects me and is perhaps why I get triggered by what I see happening on the screen. I would ask kindly that Rivet could consider the affects of people jumping in front of a train in a virtual world which tries hard to depict real life. I do hope that we se the potential of all content develop in the future.
I have qualms with some Rivet products but every time someone mentions the word RIVET here people start absolutely TWEAKING. Might be 1 constructive post for every 10 to 15 in a RIVET thread. And I’m being generous. Exhibit 1A is this thread. Rivet sending a dev in here to get absolutely lit up makes about as much sense as telling a kamikazee to have a safe flight. Hardly anyone wants to come in here and engage with this forum. Real, constructive criticism gets drowned out by all the flaming and entitled comments. The community were warned, but they called anyone who advised toning it down and keeping things constructive “fanboys”. And now they’re reaping what they’ve sowed. Now they have an echo chamber forum where they all just tweak out and nobody listens to them. This place is the perfect case study on misery loves company.
Took me a while to find it since these indicents are now already half a year ago and I'm usually not the one calling out on people but since I was especially asked to do it, here we go. In relation to the Fife Circle release and preview stream, there were these posts user captured from your forum, with this moderator called AmScot01324_Rivet, which some people perceived as unrespectful and inpolite. Then your own post in here, I mean to speak for the community, the replies of AmScot01324_Rivet and this post of yours also were not that much constructive and helpful to be honest. Personally, I think it would have been better for everyone, if you didn't even answer in the first place and kept your personal opinion about ranting people for yourself. I can only imagine what DTG's staff must sometimes think about the people in this forum, but its simply better for everyone, if the public don't know anything of this. This forum is a lion's den and shark tank, yes. And the expectactions and demands by some people for products have been gone extreme. Especially in regard to new third parties and the recent discussion about Alan Thompson's new third party project, I can understand why maybe some people even refrain from getting into the third party programme. However, I still think if we had more input from team members, it would be better for the climate in here. In my opinion, many of the hate towards the developers is constituted of misinformation. Would had the situation after the preview stream of Fife Circle back in March maybe better, if we had known more about why exactly the airport has been cut out, why exactly many of the services and scenery were missing, why exactly there were used a wrong build for the preview stream? Would the reception have been better to give a thorough explanation from a developer side - why things went wrong, an apoligy for it and then list exactly how things are planned to fix them asap? Maybe not, maybe yes. Not bought yet, but I want to. I have a question. I want to buy a few DLCs for TSC in your store during the sale, but I don't have the base game TSC yet and want to wait for a sale. My question is: Do the Steam codes have any expiration date to redeem on Steam - until the end of the sale maybe? Or can I redeem them whenever I want (maybe next year or so)?
RobertSchulz You could buy the base game from Rivet too, they sell a Swiss Deluxe Edition of it for 8,74€ with the discount. And to answer your question, I´m quite sure that Steam keys don´t have an expiration date.
At least, despite Rivet’s shortcomings with other routes, IOW22/484 is excellent (despite the lack of official livery).
