Anybody here took a subscription? Has the subscribed content rotated? What is the frequency of rotation?
you're probably right it seems like a very meagre offer, with the oldest DLC included, at least to go by the discussions on the Steam forum and the last rotation was 5 months ago when DTG drops the subscription model, will there be an uproar? doubtful, since TSC is sort of abandoned by DTG already one can only hope the bugs introduced with the latest beta get sorted out, because also other signaling scripts are affected
I could argue in favour of a static sub. Sure, rotation gives access to all kinds of content over time. It also means that you lose access to content. As is, the sub is a simple way to play the game in a way we all praise it without actually investing a lot up front. Namely, mix and match plenty of content, have a good variety. My first few purchases have been in range of 100€ - with discounts. For that price I could play for many months. There is a turnover point, I'm afraid to do the math about myself, but it's 120€ a year or so. Pricier without commitment. As long term investment it's better to just buy the content, but if you just want to try a couple scenarios on each route, it wins. In that case you probably won't care about 3rd party stuff either. I suspect it's either not too popular, or DTG follows the same logic and just leaves it be. Like renting a place to live.
If you're using third party routes (and I do), you're depending on a lot of DLC assets to be present. It's really ok to make this offer for those who just want to casually play it for a while.

Copy the contents (except for "Assets") of this folder to RailWorks. Choose "Yes" to Overwrite. That's all. Needs to be repeated after a verification, so keep that source folder safe. Two clicks to apply
Not here. Already got a massive collection of routes, some hardly played and many probably never to be touched again (especially if you include all the TSW content and other sims too). However like a book collection at home rather than using the library they are always there if you want them. With a subscription, once cancelled it all goes away.
Interesting read on Steam usage for products Average users using app in last 30 days TSW = 667 TSC = 665 TSC Sub = 0 Most surprising is that TSC has almost as many users as TSW. Looks like TSW is losing in popularity. TSC definitely has my vote. Great set of DLC, longer routes and more variety (less boring repetition of smaller routes)
I have a feeling that the "TSC sub" isn't counted as "in use" just like the TS DLC won't be counted as "In use" - so it will always show as 0. I think that would be similar for other subscription based "DLC" though too? Although as for TSW you have to remember there is also Epic Store, Windows Store (Xbox and PC) and PlayStation as well (so there are a few others and consoles add a lot to the numbers too, more so with Games Pass )
I understand that the Steam numbers do not include Xbox etc. I was interested to see that there is still a huge following for TSC. Glad to see that there isn’t just 10 of us still using the simulator.
Numbers for TSC might also include people meddling in the editor, building a route or putting together a scenario. However still think the TSW numbers might be of concern to DTG, obviously without access to the console numbers on top. However none as bad as that tram game they adopted which as I mentioned over in its forum the other day barely scraped over 60 concurrent players.
... However, it doesn't include people playing offline. I have a few people on my friend list who never seem to play TSC but somehow conjure up regular screenshots. I suppose playing a copy counts, though, if online.
Absolutely, plus if I have an extended station stop, running in Borderless mode I like to Alt Tab over to Edge and check the forums etc. briefly.
I always appear offline, a habit I picked up from avoiding a lot of players once I binned GTA IV online.
The reasons i play offline are 1; to avoid any system updates while playing. 2; to avoid any TSC updates that breaks stuff or triggers file verification.
